We will be ok, lots of other options if he doesn’t want to come here.

Lots of tricky midfielders/attackers like Marmoush, Cherki, Reijnders, or even someone like Nypan that should be readily available for those 10 positions.
Stop acting like we can compete with CL teams in the transfer market. We need to get smarter at scouting and identifying non-obvious targets.

I mean I wouldn't blame him one bit for choosing CL football and a manager who trusts him and knows how to use him. This fanbase has got to drop the 'but we're Man Utd!' mentality. Mbuemo shouldn't be a priority anyway, we have our two tens sorted in Cunha and Bruno now lets go get a striker and a central midfielder.
There is a huge difference playing for Man Utd vs Spurs, surely? Especially someone coming from Africa and reported to be Man Utd fan?

We know Arsenal and Newcastle interest was advanced enough beyond just interest because Ornstein and Romano but said Mbeumo turned down actual proposals from them.

Also you're just guesstimating from a gut instinct. BBC say he hasnt made a bid. Ross Harewood and Ben Jacobs so far have said his priority remains Man Utd. BBC say Spurs interested but no bid made.

Absolutely nothing points to him being open to Spurs.

I’ve had a read through their tweets and articles and can’t find anything that says they made proposals to him, just that they had interest. If you can find something then I’m all ears.

Ok Spurs haven’t made a bid, never claimed they had. Just that they were in talks, which usually is what takes place before a formal offer. Especially if they just want to know what price they want and don’t want back and forth.

Ross Harewood? Come on now….

I’d be shocked if he chose Tottenham over us, but I think we can be relaxed given we have lots of options for the two ‘10s’
If we get him, great. If not we have up to 60 million to get a proper striker or midfielder in.

If the price goes above £60m they can have him. We need to learn to walk away from being fleeced

Well lets go through it
- He turned down Arsenal and Newcastle for us, which means its not just CL football for this season thats the pull.
- He obviously had a good relationship with Frank, so there's a factor that he will be attracted to this but theres a big assumption that this is enough to sway him from whats likely 1) a better wage opportunity with us, 2) a better personal brand and sponsorship opportunity, 3) a bigger prestige and 4) a more ambitious project.

It makes it all very far fetched. BBC have said theres not even a bid made, Skysports are just reporting something off a knee jerk.

If Spurs beat are offer, which they likely will if they put in a bid and we dont respond, then Brentford will only accept theirs, leaving Mbeumo with just one option.

If Mbeumo s suddenly now "open" to Spurs, or whatever they are saying, then it is likely because he is getting the feeling that United wont match Brentford's price and that Spurs with Frank is suddenly a decent prospect.

I agree. Great player improves the team. But anything above £60 million is not worth it. Still have Amad who can play there. But I think we will get him. The BBC and Skysports are very anti united. Wouldn’t pay much attention.

Likely only going to be UCL football for one season though.

Wouldn't listen to either Harwood or Jacobs

Not a real journalist.

I'll retract Harewood - I didnt know he wasnt credible.
Also Pocco - its some leap to go from "theyve started talks" to "Franks turned his head"? There's a lot of if buts and maybes in that (so tempted to say "I only deal with absolutes")

I just think it’s something we’ll have to consider. Mbeumo would be an amazing striker but would we rather prioritise Gyokeres given that situation?

It’s crunch time really, but we need to manage it better than we have historically and think what is best for us given the fees involved!

Time to take a break from the caf. I can see all the various outcomes here and none of them don’t involve mass hysteria and bed wetting at some point of the process.

Best to check back in in August and see where we are.

I suppose Frank changes the equation but he walks into the the United starting 11 and get plenty of game time. Wouldn't Brennan Johnson and dejan k compete with him at Spurs? Didn't make a ton of sense to be from a Spurs point of view. Think it is just lazy speculation because the Frank connection.

Our own fans disrespect the club more than the rest of football.

Of course there's a difference and there's a difference in where both teams expect to be over the course of what would be a 5/6 year contract.

CL for one season, in which spurs won't be anywhere near fancied to go particularly far, won't sway most people from a decision that is going to impact the next 3-7 years of their life.

Would not be a disaster at all.

if money instead is used on a starting Striker and a starting midfielder it would create better balance with Bruno and Cunha as AM, someone like Osimhen or Gyökeres upfront

Relax muppets, no player is turning down Manchester United to play for fecking Spurs

This is literally a done deal in my opinion

If I said Frank has turned his head then I apologise, that’s not what I meant. Just that I think he’ll have been trying and it’s possible he will/has. I don’t know how this one will go.

Yeah screw that - paying 70M (+ high wages) is insane. Let them have him.

You're right, I saw July and read June, and its actually longer as its the 26th July.

I'm with you, I'm also going out of the window.
 Too long to wait for a player when Amorim needs to have his squad ready and us muppets need less stress.
I t

thought first day back training at Carrington was 7th July
It is still 3 weeks until that and longer for first pre season match.

And then Mbeumo will say I only want united leaving spurs with one option. The same way Rashford won't entertain offers from anyone other than Barca, and we'll end up with a cheap crappy loan at the end of the window.

In a week we went from beeing feared by rival fans if we would get a scary new front 3, to total fecking meltdown (including myself)

It’s not sustainable to buy him for that amount. The player himself must be furious about this news.

It's rubbish having to be at work, quickly take out your phone, check the caf and reading the thread title

By tonight the bbc will be claiming he is going to take a pay cut to join Frank at Spurs.

We should have got this done before Frank went to Spurs
Think Brendford knew Frank was going to Spurs at the time of United bid so it was always going to be rejected. Now they use that conection to push the fee a bit higher.

The thread titles are fear mongering, purposefully leaving out the updates that he still prefers us

He isn't going to score 20 goals next season for any team in the league. He had a massive overperformance in front of the goal and doesn't offer much in general play apart from a bit of running. The player he is going to replace in the lineup also scored at a better rate.
Our whole set of attacking options didn't score 20 between them last season, so he doesn't have far to go to be the best attacker.

Maybe a different discussion, but where do Spurs improve?
I think they have good players in each posstion and no areals that need urgent attention. Apart from maybe the keeper.

It would be about upgrading what they have and i think Mbeumo is an upgrade on Kulusevski.
