Do you have verifiable concrete evidence that this is indeed happening? No.
None of us know exactly what is happening. Anything on a discussion board is naturally going to be 70% speculation, so I'm not sure what the point of your post is.

What we do know is that the club has a history of not being very good at transfer negotiations, and there's not much reason to expect that to have changed.

Oh please - you're talking absolute nonsense because you cannot accept you're wrong.

According to you if a club has the money but doesn't want to pay it means they can't afford it? What drivel.

Let's just change the meaning of the english language to suit your fallacy shall we.

Well, ofcourse you are right, so if that is the case... could you show me where we have done the following?;

- Put £7m for a keeper
- 20m profit on sell on feels?

CM and all these others you are talking about, as per most reputable journalists, they have always maintained, United need to sell to buy. You think that is just for fun is it?

You can teach me the English language but You can have money and still not afford something, you do know that right?

I am sure he wouldn't have if we were serious.

Anyway, Semenyo...that's it? Is there a rule that we cannot strengthen any other position before we sign another #10?
No he was part of a list. I'm sure the whole one isn't briefed.

But there's lots of places we can pivot to and they don't have to mean a 10. We can take the £70m valuation they have for Mbeumo and work on say, Watkins and a keeper or Watkins and Dumfries or other combinations, just as an example.

I believe we probably have alternative strategies but we are failing on conviction in hope Brentford will lower their fee if we wait long enough.

They’ve only pivoted because their chosen player has decided to go elsewhere otherwise they’d still be there negotiating.

Besides if United have had the summer Newcastle have had all of you would be ripping us to shreds, literally 95% of their targets have turned them down. I’d rather go in with the team we have now than have to settle for 3rd or 4th choice targets. It’s embarrassing.
I've never understood your posts. You basically defend everything concerning United. Do you think United is a well run club?

What is your point:

That we have been stellar in the last 12 season?
or
We sucked previously but are doing well now?
Or
something else?

My point is that you can’t have it both ways, you either pay what they want or you negotiate - both scenarios have annoyed the fanbase.

It’s been 6 weeks or so I believe since we announced our interest in Mbeumo. The first bid was 04/06 - The second proposal was 2 weeks later on 23/06 which was 3 weeks ago.

Things are moving along at the same pace as what it was between the first and 2nd proposal.

People are getting unnecessarily upset over something that’s going relatively smoothly. Admittedly I would have liked it sewn up by now, but other deals have taken just as long. Look at Carreras at Madrid, Gyokeres at Arsenal and Trafford to Newcastle for other deals that have taken especially long.

What is a good negotiation though? Because it seems a lot of fans on here would rather we just bent over for Brentford and paid whatever to get him in.
Being a bit quicker either way wouldn't hurt.
At this point sign him or move onto an alternative
Preferably a proper number 9

You probably want to spoiler these so as to not wind people up who won't notice the dates.

Remember the days of "waiting for July 1st"?

Apparently we wanted this guy in before they flew to the USA. One week from today or tomorrow then I guess...

I’ll have to do it when I get back, for some reason when I’m on my phone it blocks off all the bold / italic / links etc etc part

There is another way, if the other club is not budging and is being unnecessarily difficult then they need to move on to alternatives/targets. We can't spend the whole window waiting on this guy. At some point you have to make a take it or leave it offer. We fly to the States soon. Have our first season game this Saturday. The first league game is exactly a month away. We need to giddy up.

Also, seems like you want it to happen fast too...

However, any chance to have a dig at others is too hard to miss, aye?

I just like to look at things with a bit of nuance.

We’re hamstrung at the moment by the finances, I would like to believe if we had the funds we’d be signing our other positions whilst doing this deal. We signed De Ligt and Zirzkee pretty close to one another last season if memory serves me right.

I’d have liked it to be done sooner of course but we have to be realistic, we’re tight on money this summer and only have enough for 2 signings before selling, that’s Cunha and Mbeumo. We want Mbeumo so we’ll go for him and we need to be patient and not knee-jerk to other targets and/or buy what they want. Too long been taken for mugs and paying too much, finally stand up and negotiate and not bend to their whim and that’s ALSO wrong.

I don’t believe we’re sitting on our laurels here, I think we’re negotiating but these things take time. Just hope they’re confident we’ll get other players in before we start the season & if not. It is what it is and we support the team through thick and thin.

There’s simply no need to get unnecessarily stressed over things like transfers or even football for that matter. We didn’t sign a player, oh well.

What I always say is “we go again!”

Good god, there’s things like nuance right?

I can also see that they’re wanting to negotiate and the importance of standing your ground but I can also see the importance to get things done at a quicker rate otherwise we’d lose out.

Wanting it to happen quicker does not = give them what they want does it?

If this is the guy they want, and he has made it clear he wants the move, then why should we do anything other than patiently negotiate the best possible terms for the deal.

Moving on for moving ons sake doesn’t seem sensible to me.

They literally said they'd like to have it sewn up by now in the post you replied to. It's not exactly the gotcha you seem to think it is.

What is a good negotiation though? Because it seems a lot of fans on here would rather we just bent over for Brentford and paid whatever to get him in.
Not me - I'd rather we told Brentford to go feck themselves, go with either Bruno or Amad at 10, and spend the Mbeumo money on either a midfielder or striker.

Yeah don't think this will happen now. Shame, exciting prospect for the team. But Ineos have decided its more important to re-educate the market, and I guess if you going to do that, you do it with as high profile a saga as you can. I'm told delayed satisfaction is a good thing, but it certainly doesn't feel like it.

If the Delap>Mbeumo situation is anything to go by, we'll hear who the next target is shortly after Brentford have ruled out signing Mbeumo (Newcastle will get Wissa me thinks). Pacey finishers with low centres of gravity - would it be fair to say that's the profile. Who else fits that mould?

I always assumed that Wissa had a few years left on his contract vs Mbeumo, but this is his last year of the contract, and I'm not even sure if Brentford hold a year-plus option on Wissa. So yeah, as thing stands, they would rather sell Wissa now, for 45-50m, than Mbeumo, who they can keep for another year, and still get 40-45 next year. Not a positive development, with everything considered. I'm just hoping Brentford will slap a 50m price tag on him.

They have

If Mbuemo really wants to come then he needs to start kicking off. Turn up to training and just hoof the ball into the nearest garden every time it comes his way.

Then spend the rest of the afternoon practicing tik tok dances and making passive aggressive tweets.

Surely this gets accepted. Crazy how we went up from £45m fixed in our initial offer to £65m fixed.

They'll accept that.

Seems to be in line with what they initially wanted too so no idea why it took so long.

That'll probably get it done. Did we spend all this time negotiating just to pay them what they always wanted in the end?

Maybe the timing of payments is favorable at least.

We did some dumb things in the past, but paying 60+5 for Mbeumo is not it. So yeah, I agree with what the poster said.

I doubt that. I trully believe this will be settled with 60 guaranteed plus 3-5 in bonuses.

70m it is

If this is true and they reject that...we should throw nasty insults at them and never deal with them ever again.

Oof I don't like that. That's expensive as feck.

Hopefully he ends up being a world class player here but like... I just don't think he is good enough to justify a bid that big.

If they say no to this then tell them to F right off and go get someone else.. We waisted enough time dealing with this club.
