Agreed.

I think it's a stupid signing unfortunately. I kinda got Cunha, but this just feels silly and just typical of the silly things we've done for th last 5 years especially.

The fact that so many of our fans are excited about it, pretty much reaffirms my belief too.

I'm desperately hoping Newcastle can save us from ourselves here.
Really? And to link it to the Mount deal seems bizarre.
Mbeumo has just come off a superb season, is peak age, peak fitness ,strong and quick. And fills a real quality void.

Mount meanwhile had come off a poor season, isn't powerful, fast or particularly creative and it was a baffling call from day 1. Not to mention his best position was Bruno's position.

Mount was coming off a terrible season where he also dealt with injuries, and we bought him without any real fit in our starting XI. There's very little in common here.

Also not sure why you think this means we aren't signing a striker.
Explained in the post.

Fernandes/Cunha/Mbuemo are all starter level players - for two positions.

This either means one of three things -

Bruno leaves (though isn’t the latest his family is against the move, and the ball is essentially in his court) in which case it eliminates the problem.

Bruno plays the 8. We’re weak as piss when he’s in the middle two, we get walked through.

All three play, and they rotate who leads the line.

Or we go and find another £50m+ on a 9 and one of Fernandes / Cunha / Mbuemo isn’t a starter. Not fond of £50m+ transfers for someone not in the first XI when we have positions that need filling.

So 110M Zirkzee and Hojlund don’t work and we just splash out another 100 on two new ones? Cool strategy.
What the shit is this post?

Funds for more will be generated through sales of players like Rashford, Anthony, Garnacho, those who have shown themselves to not be up to the task of playing for Manchester United.

Bore off man

I'm really exited for this deal. One of the players I have had the best feeling pre transfer about in a long time. He's great attacking and helps pressing as well.

We've (provisionally) added 35 goals in the first 2 days of the transfer period. Imagine how many goals we will have added at the start of September? We'd win every game 100-0!!
Math don't lie.

I'm so happy this could be happening. Big fan of Mbeumo. With him and Cunha joining our ranks we'll have proper skill, physicality and bite in our attack at last..

He's better than Antony, he's better than Sancho. But that's a low bar.

Not sure if he's better than Amad in the right sided now position but if they're both competing for that position then so be it.

Amad could play RWB with Dorgu being the more defensively minded of the two. With Dalot/Mazraoui being the RWB when we need a more defensive option.

I'm not mad about it but I'm not all that excited either. It's a sign of the times signing for us.

Literally just saw this news. I really hope it's true! He and Cunha will be transformative for our attack, even if we only bring in a decent striker.

Bruno has looked far better in this system in the middle. He just needs another midfielder next to him. Even if we didn’t sign Mbeumo it would likely have been Cunha and Amad as the 10. This signing means we can have Amad as RWB giving us another attacking option.

Bruno isn’t really a 10 in this system. And that’s assuming he stays. I do agree he has his limitations in CM too though which is why I’m not averse to selling him for the prices mentioned.

Add in a Gyökerez and we have a proper high energy beehive attack.

Some of our fans really underestimate how big United is. Even in our worst season in PL history, we were never going to have trouble attracting players.

Would forgo any of that front 3 to get a decent keeper. We cannot go into next season with Onana in goal.

We were always going to attract players, but there's without a doubt a certain bracket of talent this summer we're not going to be able to battle for like we could in the past. Hopefully a blip in time.

Mbeumo will be a good signing. I can remember back when Yorke signed from Villa and some people were underwhelmed. This signing reminds me of that.

This would be an amazing transfer. Fingers crossed.

Mbeumo's f*ckin’ magic,
He wears a magic hat,
And when he saw Old Trafford,
He said I fancy that.

He didn’t sign for Newcastle,
Or Arsenal ‘cos they're sh*te,
He signed for Man United,
Cos they’re f*cking dynamite...
I always feel with this song that you should capitalise the "SHITE" and splash water on the back of your head to mimic the spittle of a fellow Red standing in the row behind you.

Like that were finally going after speedy PL proven players. Long may it continue.

At the very least I don't have to wonder about who drank my paint thinner anymore.

I think one of the great draws in guys like Cunha and Mbeumo is the tactical flexibility they give you, Cunha can play all across the front line, he is a versatile attacker, having multiple players of that type in the team creates an unpredictability and fluidity that most of our best teams have had.

Go back 2 years and it was Rash/Hojlund/Garnacho, 3 head down and run players, of course it didn't work.
Apparently he’s the least versatile player in the league….

Seems an odd take. Mbuemo stinks of Fergie era signing. Player who's proven his worth in the premier league, entering his prime and (hopefully) ready to step up at a bigger club.

Give me a mbuemo type signing over a Di Maria, Pogba and falcao any time.

True, but many were acting as if we'd have to make do with bottom of the barrel stuff after losing the final. That was never going to be the case.

We've already experienced this in the past. Obviously not to the extreme of finishing 15th, but missing out on Europe and then - the following transfer window - still bringing in big names/talents.

Yeah reminds of the Ashley Young signing

Mbeumo would be a fantastic signing, I can’t believe there are some moaning about this.

Said everything I came in to say.

I think this one paints us into less of a corner if we have to change manager than Cunha does, so in that respect I think it's probably a decent enough signing. I still think spending £60m+ on players when we're so weak everywhere is the wrong approach, but if we're going to do it then I think Mbeumo is the right type of player to do it on. Even if he flops, he's quick and direct and works hard so he'll still have a decent squad role.

Hopefully he's not picked us because we've offered him silly £200k~ a week wages.
