Can he play as a forward? Having Amad play as a wingback just seems like a real waste of the talent

Nah Amad is good at RWB and coupled with Mbeumo the right side of our attack is upgraded massively

I’m tired of watching Dalot or Maz be our main attacking outlet

True, he's also been wishing Gykoroes and Osimhen transfers into existence so we might get one of those. If that happens then we need to get him onto Baleba from Brighton.
Croadyman has been the best poster on here for years.

And I trust his opinion. To the Gyokeres thread!

I think you’re significantly misprofiling Cunha and Mbeumo.
I hope so! I'm not writing either off, for what it's worth. They're both clearly talented players, and @V.O. has made excellent points in Cunha's favour in his transfer thread.

Whilst I like the players all these fans saying it’s a fantastic signing need to give their head a wobble. Have you seen our success rate over the last 12 years?

It’s not just about the player. The squad has to be built to suit players, something we’ve lack for so many years. I even seen people suggest Mbeumo covers RWB.

Kvaratskhelia was covering left back in the CL final at times.

Mbeumo interchanging with Amad will cause issues for the opposition. Fluidity in positional play is important in football nowadays as we saw from PSG in the CL final.

Mbuemo isn't going to be playing as a RWB. He's been brought in to play as a 10 and maybe occasionally as a striker, same as Cunha.

Here's a clip of him playing in the 10/SS role.
Tormented City. Whether he'll be good in a low block remains to be seen but what's clear is he makes very good choices.

Eh? If you read this thread, the main reason everyone is so excited about Cunha & Mbuemo is precisely because they not only fit the system Ruben plays. Also because they are serious upgrades on what we have, have both proven records in the Premier League, are the right age both coming in to their prime and after great seasons with their clubs. They compliment each other, can rotate or work in different formations and with Amad as wing back it has the potential to offer us insane pace, power and goal threat.

Ruben is literally buying these players to build the squad that's fits and works the way he wants it to.

Class player another upgrade. Takes us from hitting long range low percentage to technical, interchangeable ability to beat players THEN play final pass.

Proven records is simply not true. Both players had a good season last year and an okay season the year before. That is no guarantee of success.

We also signed Maguire, Shaw, Wan Bissaka, Matic, Mata, Fellaini, Mount in these years of obscurity. Just because they’ve had a good year in the Premier League doesn’t mean they’ll do it here.

We still need a striker. Someone like Gyokeres would really give the opposition something to think about when playing us. Not that we are going to strike fear into anyone we are playing but we won’t be one dimensional depending on just one player to bail us out.
For me Gyokeres has a certain amount of risk. He's scored a lot in Portugal but players doing well in other leagues doesn't always transmit well to the Premier league and this wouldn't be a cheap signing. I'd rather have someone who's performed in the Premier League even if they weren't a superstar. Someone like Ivan Toney who's currently in Saudi would make more sense to me.

Who could we have signed to make you excited?

Eh? That's just nonsense. United still have a huge pull in the football world, players dream of playing for Manchester United. Mbuemo has been quoted as saying Champions League isn't a priority or deal breaker for him. He was also a United fan as a kid. To add to that he's almost guaranteed a starting place and huge amounts of game time at United where he would be up against Saka for a starting place at Arsenal.

Arsenal don't really need a player like him anyway, they just need to get a striker.

Mbuemo, if he signs, knows he will have a chance to be part of a rebuild and could help take the club back to where it belongs. With a new stadium planned, it's not all doom and gloom at United it's just many can't see any positives. Luckily, it seems like Cunha and (hopefully) Mbuemo both can.
Still a big club with some appeal but we cannot attract top players anymore.

Your point about Arsenal is pretty much what I said, they're not seriously in for him because their main priority is a striker.

Mbeumo and Cunha are the perfect style of players to compliment Zirkzee. We have to buy a striker but when Zirkzee does play, he'll be a different player.

I think you're being a little unfair there. Both those players have performed well since they arrived in England. Cunha scored 15 league goals and got 6 assists last season and the season before he got 12 and 7 assists. His first season he only scored 2 but he only arrived mid season and only played 12 games. Mbeumo got 20 goals and 7 assists in the league last season, which is insane. The 2 previous seasons he got 9 goals in each and 6 and 8 assists respectively, playing for Brentford. Those are very good numbers at a mid table side.

Mount came off a bad year at Chelsea.Shaw has at times been outstanding and at one time was one of the best left backs in the world. Mata was a true fan favourite. AWB was ok, Matic was a Mourinho purchase the same as Lukaku and both were to fit his style of play. Fellaini was a Moyes favourite so it was obvious he was going to be signed.

I think you're just throwing names out there and missing the point you originally made of it not being just about the player and the squad being made to fit the players etc, when that's exactly what Ruben is doing.

Newcastle and Brentford fans are losing the run of themselves this evening. Geordies slamming Mbeumo for displaying such a lack of ambition, presumably for wanting to join a side that has made 5 cup finals in 5 years over a club who just won their first ever trophy on colour TV.

While Brentford fans are claiming "surely Christian Eriksen was all the proof he needed not to join United". The same Eriksen who has won 2 trophies and played in 4 finals in his 3 seasons at the club. They seem to think it's a given they'll finish above us next season, despite this year being the first time they've done it in close to 100 years.

Our banter era would be the greatest spell in the history of these clubs and they still can't fathom why players want to join. This is us at our lowest and they think it's going to last forever. I spent the first 25 years of my life being as gracious and understated as I could when we were winning all round us, but when we do get our shit together again, however long it takes, I am going to be an unbearable prick to all these clowns.

I'd be absolutely buzzing with Cunha and Mbeumo. I love the strategy of signing the best players in the Prem that we're able to get as well. It makes complete sense.

We've signed a lot of players during that time though who were either very young and had no track record at all or whose track record was entirely in another league. If we're going back to signing players who've performed consistently well in the league we play in then there's much less of a risk factor, at least imo.

I dont think people are seeing it yet but he is going to be a very affective utility player for us. He will play at RWB against certain teams, and he is also a very efficient passer of the ball, he looks capable of playmaking as much as direct attacking.

I just hope he trims his beard alittle more :)

It’s true, isn’t it? Everyone was saying that if we got a striker and a goalkeeper, we’d be set. We already have a world-class number 10. And apparently, we have no money — yet we spent £100 million on two more number 10s

We have a world class no10 in a 4231. I'm not sure we have a world class 10 in the way Amorim uses 10's. He's also in his 30s and the subject of a 9 figure transfer bid from the Saudis.

I love that Cunha and Mbuemo are 26 and 25 respectively.

I never mind signing younger players but we desperately needed prime aged players who are ready to take responsibility and perform.

I really hope we can agree a deal with Brentford.
Yes!

I also love that both have a few years evidence they work in the PL, and both have really good injury records too. So many green flags with these transfers!!

We need a striker and a goalkeeper, we’ve got no money — and we go out and sign two number 10s
We are a team that has seriously lacked goals and we've just signed two attackers that combined for 35 PL goals last season. Hilarious stuff.

I'm sure the other positions will be addressed when we move on a few players. Doesn't matter what order we get business done in.

The world class no.10 we've got was moved to CM last season because we had no playmaker. Plus he's over 30 and selling him could almost completely pay for these 2 signings, which looks like it might happen. The whole attack is crap, just signing a striker doesnt fix that.

We don't have any world class number 10s. We are looking to bring in the two of the most productive hybrid 10/wingers in the league and ditch the rest due to us not being able to score in the league for the last two seasons.

Anyone saying that obviously didn’t watch us last year. We hardly ever got the ball into dangerous areas, and that wasn’t just because we had a poor striker
