Bryan Mbeumo | Orny: United still interested and trying to work out a deal

I know it’s a ridiculous thing to suggest as we finished 15th in the league last season but if we get all those players you mentioned I think, with 1 game a week, we could literally challenge for the league next season.
I am still worried about CM. A midfield made of Bruno, Ugarte, Mbuemo and Cunha is, in my opinion, too lopsided. It could be Done with a prime Keane but Ugarte is no Keane.

But yes having 1 game per week will help. Napoli went from 10th to 1st in 1 season despite losing osimhen and then kvara

No mention in the Athletic's Transfer Update about Spurs potentially becoming a threat to this deal. Also reiterates that Mbeumo was Newcastle's top RW target, with no mention of them choosing to walk away due to the money involved.

He come here for the same sort of price we paid for Cuhna.

Two very good deals at the start of the window.

It’s all gone quiet and the window closes tomorrow at 7pm.
We might have to wait until later next week, when it opens again.

Meanwhile, if Thomas Frank is going to Spurs, let’s hope they don’t step in and pull the rug from under our feet with Mbeumo.
If Son is leaving, they’ll be looking for a replacement.

A number of us are afraid this might happen but others are sure it will not.
But until we wrap it up then we're leaving it under a question mark.

Son plays on the left wing, so he wouldn't be replacement anyway. Why would they spend all that money on a RW when Kulusevski and Johnson are best from the right?

It doesn’t make a difference if the window closes. We can agree a deal with them whenever. Just can’t register him until it opens again. It’s not like every club will stop speaking to each other for a week and a bit.

It closes for a temp period but reopens on 16th June
And isn’t it the case that the transfer window isn’t actually a deal window, it’s just a registration window. You can still do a deal to sign a player at any time, they just can’t be registered until the “transfer window” is open. So Mbeumo can be signed at any time, he just can’t be registered until the window reopens.

Bollocks. A club of our size can do numerous deals at once.

Obviously we can but at the same time we need to know how much budget we have left. It might also be if we can't get Mbeumo we go for Gyokeres and sign a cheaper 10. Lots of moving parts to consider.

Yes. Which is why Chelsea were able to sign Quenda in March, you can sign players any time you just cannot complete the registration outside of the windows.

has Ogden had any sources since the Moyes/LvG days? Feels like he's been out of the loop for years.
He has a subscription to The Athletic. He is a fraud mostly, he talks utter drivel on ESPN all the time and makes it clear he is less clued in than the average Caf member, he just regurgitates headlines and throws in the odd guess.

I think so yeah

The new regime knows how to negotiate. Few years ago we’d have offered 60m straight up
They do? Based on what? We will end up on their valuation of player. As we did with all players who INEOS signed so far.
Murtough (worst DoF in history) did same thing. He started with bids of 40 mil for Hojlund and 40 mil for Antony.

Don't get me wrong; i like most of INEOS signings so far (only Ugarte was a miss imo) but prices which they got are not something for which they should be praised for.

Based on the fact we’re signing players less than there club originally wanted or we’re paying in instalments. Rather than chucking all the money in upfront. It also allows us to spend more as we’re saving more.

The thing is.. INEOS haven't gone above 65m on a single signing though, so its not the same.

Antony and Hojlund started at 40 and doubled... when have we seen INEOS double the fee?

Secondly, the wages INEOS are offering are much lower.

Ugarte, PSG wanted 60-65m and we done a deal for 42 + add ons.

We still owe 90 mil in instalments. So, previous regime also did that.

As i said, Murtough/Arnold were awful but there is nothing so far to praise Ineos approach. Except young players. Yoro, Heaven and Chido are top business.

Plus everything that @romufc as just said to you…

Unless the finances of one are linked to the other. Even if we can get Gyokeres before sales we’ll might have to take money from our credit facility and so we need to know how much.
