I did. When did he misplace passes?
De Gea is decent with his feet. When he arrived to the PL it was one of his distinctive best features.
The goalkeeping in the PL has changed over the last 10 years though; and now you have keepers like Allison, Kepa and Ederson who would not feck up playing RB for their respective sides.
Now De Gea is average at best league-wise. He is not terrible though, thats such an over-exaggeration and so very Caf.

If he can help get De Gea out of this poor form then it will be a great move. A De Gea of 2/3 years ago is worth many many points. Right now, he has unfortunately cost us quite a few points.

I was thinking that but in the end two heads are better than one. And realistically they must have other responsibilities too, taking the odd session with the academy and stuff.
Yeh. I think this is the best explanation, judging by his credential. Also he may rotate with Hartis and other Gk coaches when they are in need.

People on the CAF wouldn't have signed George Best because he was just some kid from Belfast. It's amazing the entitlement and general arrogance on here. This guy looks to have good credentials to me. Hope he does well.

Now let’s get the passing and set piece coach from Stoke.

Just kidding, good for him, a better job and hopefully helps the GKs.

So average at best means there are at least 10 goalkeepers better with their feet. So who are the other 7 better than him? Hes not top tier, but I think his passing from the back is a little underrated now, perhaps due to the style we've played in recent years.

Yeah, it's a myth that De Gea is bad with his feet. He's good. When we signed him he was probably the best in the league. The overall standard has skyrocketed, with a couple of keepers signed as much for that as anything else. He's still top five or six though. He shows it off less now though - fewer attempts to pick out strikers from the GK, less mucking around with Cruyffs against pressing forwards etc. Good riddance, too. We have two good ball playing CBs now, we don't need our keeper to do their job for them.

Anyway, sounds like a decent appointment, as others have said, based on Heaton and Pope.

Do we get Nick Pope with him too? Only fair since he polished that diamond in the rough

Where are all of the nutters from the DOF, Woodward and Haaland threads at tonight? We need somebody to dissect the club’s recruitment strategy and pretend as if they were sitting in on the interview process.

I will wait.
Bizarre post. There's an overwhelming amount of evidence the club is poorly run. That doesn't mean they're incapable of making good decisions here and there.

Good luck to him, can't argue he's not been coaching well given the state of pope and brexit fc fans seem upset at losing him.

Not sure it's the CM signing a lot of the caf were after though.

I hope he coaches De Gea to save a penalty.............Deeney sends his down the middle.....the whole world knew it except Dave!
De Gea might be the worst pk goalkeeper I've seen playing for United. I can only recall him saving one. Against Van Persie of all people.

He moves too early. Should take a leaf out of the David Seaman playbook. Just focus on saving penalties which are near enough to you. Forget the ones which hit the corners and move only at the last moment. Dave's superior shot-stopping reflexes mean that he is well equipped to do this. After a while, opposing strikers will get spooked and keep thinking they better shoot for the higher-risk corners which increases the likelihood of misses.

If we can afford to hire 2 goal keeper coach (remember there is a senior Keeper coach as well), can we hire a set piece coach as well? And a crossing coach on how to deliver and make run into the box....

I don't recall any ground passes, but he flopped a couple of goal kicks and at least one clearance right into the chest of the opposition.
He also specialises in sending the ball straight into the sidelines.
He's terrible with his feet, one of the worst I've seen at this level.

I remember at least twice. I was thinking wtf, couldn't he just kick the ball out for throw in instead.

To be fair, De Gea's distribution is not bad though, he is capable of passing as we all saw in his first few seasons and LVG and it becomes more obvious under Ole this season. You're making him out as if he was the worst passer and championship/league one level passing. Spain would never pick up if he doesn't have a good distribution

The only problem I have with him is not bravery when under pressure, he'd hoof ball when they apply pressure on him.

Burnley have had Heaton and Pope in the PL era, both of whom have tended to be amongst the top performers in their position.

This is better than having one of De Gea's stooges in place.

His next aim is Dean now. Good lad.
I thought that too. If a freshening up of De Gea's coaching can help him cut out the poor aspects to his game that have crept in over the past 18 months or so that's great, but I'd also like to think this move has been made with an eye on our future with Henderson.

I was joking though, but if it sounds legit then let it be.

It’s a perfectly reasonable post. This forum (particularly threads such as those I mentioned) is full of half-baked halfwits that think they know about the recruitment processes at Manchester United - even though they have, in all likelihood, never held down a serious job in their lives. It’s an amusing dynamic.

If you don’t like that view then I suggest you read posts from elsewhere.

He’s supposed to be a very highly rated coach, hopefully he can work well with David to get him back to his best...

The lad must be grinning from ear to ear, you know you've made it when within 24 hours of joining the Manchester United family you're already on a 2nd page of a RedCafe thread dedicated entirely to you. Craig who ya say?
To be fair if Dave wasn't going through an extended crisis no one would bat an eyelid to this.

I know right? How can people watch the game and not note those freakish kicks is beyond me.
Either they are not paying much attention or they see what they wanna see.
