United makes it official. Hope it works out for him! Shaw probably has the LB spot locked up, but I think CBJ can be a useful utility player with his height and mean cross.

I honestly think CBJ will go on to be a top class left back. He has the ability, at least. We shouldn't need him (with Shaw), so this move makes sense for him and us.
 
Typical our luck that one of our biggest FB talents in recent times had to be leftsided now that we have arguably the best LB in the league \ biggest LB talent in the world playing there.

Why oh why couldn't you be a RB, T-rex arms?
 
Love this kid. He's going to be immense. Leagues and leagues above the likes of McNair and Blackett.

Hope he gets plenty of game time at Wolves.

Will he be Wolves LB starter? I was hoping we'd sell Rojo and CBJ would be our LB for the cup competitions.

I'm pretty sure we'll be playing our strongest team in the EL which means Shaw, and if the only games CBJ got all season were the League Cup Jose would be slaughtered.

He needs regular football, this is a good move, although I'd have preferred a PL team.
 
Good move for him. If he goes there and plays 35-40 Championship games as a starter, he'll be much the better for it. Wolves are being backed financially too and doing well, so hopefully he'll experience a fight at the top of the table there.

Hopefully their strikers will get on the end of some of his balls in. Brilliant crosser of a ball.
 
Defenders need game time, they need a lot of it. So if he is a starter it's a great move.

He's looked class for us every time, hope he gets a busy season and comes back all right. Shame we're not using him in Europa but at least there is more game-time this way.
 
Was thinking he would’ve started for a bunch of PL clubs - Swansea, Hull, West Brom, Watford… But Championship is a tough, physical league so it’ll be good for CBJ.
 
Looking forward a few more years, what does anyone think of grooming him into a ball playing CB as partner to Bailly? Seeing as, if all goes well, Shaw will be first choice LB for 10-12 years, CBJ's best chance at cracking the first XI is to play another position. Centre back probably makes the most sense as he's quite tall and already has some experience there. Blind successor perhaps?

A lot of crap teams in the Europa league, Championship experience will be better as its at least 1 game a week.

Silly joke aside - more or less share the views of everyone else here, I've heard nothing but really good things about Borthwick-Jackson! I do wonder how many of our loan signings we'll be taking on permanently though - is there a chance with CBJ or are United likely to want to keep him?

No chance, he'll probably be ahead of Shaw in 2 seasons if not next season. Phenomenal player by all accounts.

Good signing for them. Even if he doesn't make it here with Shaw in his way he looks like he will be a solid PL player.

Ah come on, a loan move for a talented young player to a lesser side where he'll be guaranteed to start a lot more important games than here is clearly the right move that pretty much any competent manager would make.

People try too hard to reinforce Jose's (lack of) youth policy.
 
Great move for the young lad. Actually thought he'd stay and be used in rotation, but if he's not in Mourinho's plans this season, then a loan at a club where he'll get game time is the next best thing.
 
Good news. He needs consistent game-time which he definitely wasn't going to get here. Excluding Fosu-Mensah and Rashford, I think he has the highest chance of making it here. Just need to get Andreas a good loan too.
 
Does Borthwick-Jackson play any other positions? As everyone has said, it's hard to see him displacing Luke Shaw, which makes it hard to see a future for him here. If he is versatile though he could potentially be a squad player like Brown or O'Shea, though he might not fancy it
 
I would've liked him to stay here but I really hope he does well.

According to Mitten his preferred position is CB.
 
I did hope he'll get a PL loan deal, as he definitely showed he can cope with the PL. But great for him.
Playing time is essential in his development and the championship is a good league.
 
Really pleased he's gone somewhere practically guaranteed of starting from the off but at the same time aware that our squad is weaker with him not around. I totally understand him needing consistent game time to develop, and totally back this move on those terms. The thing is though, he is our best backup choice at left back and with Shaw only just back from a season-long injury, add to that a injury disrupted season preceding that, then it's not beyond the realms of disbelief to suggest he would have been called on a fair amount of times this season. He's already such a good crosser of the ball as demonstrated last season, hope we get the chance to see him playing with Ibra at some point.
 
really pleased he has got a club, was worried he was going to rot in our stands, surprised a premier league club didn't come in for him after his performances last year.

anyway hope he does well, think long term he could give shaw a run for his money if he can keep up last seasons from.
