How about third, a strong end to the season and a Manchester United player breaking a 20+ year record?

Yes, they are all idiots!
Not entirely out of place. Bruno is my favorite player but can be frustrating sometimes.
But this season, he seems to have improved his decision making and has been absolutely brilliant after a below par start to the season in my opinion.

Deflections can count still as an assist if the deflection is negligible, which it was.

There was an athletic podcast recently where they were talking about the rules for it to count and that De Bruyne had one disallowed for what sounds like a similar case. Deflected pass. Technically if there was an inconsequential deflection on the way to the receiving player it should count, which applies here. TBD i guess

Seems very harsh if not included. It was 100% a pass and Sesko would most likely have scored from it, even if the GK doesn't touch the ball.
The keyword is "unintentional". The GK intentionally touched the ball.
But at the same time: it was clearly not a shot attempt.
In a world of common sense it's an assist, but we'll see..
Opta (which I think is used for the PL stats) says:

Comms on the PL broadcast confirmed it is not an assist for Bruno.

I’m struggling to see how that isn’t an assist. That’s going straight to Sesko if the goalie doesn’t touch it. So what difference has it made?

Love Bruno though, has grown as a player and a person since getting the captaincy. A lot of others would have melted under pressure!

It is one on Fantasy Premier League, I know there's harsher rules on official stats at times, especially this season. FPL deliberately loosened up their rules for this campaign so people could score more points.

Nah, FPL always been lenient. KdB had 23 on their platform in his "20" season.
If that’s not an assist, which it probably is not - it shows the absurdity of it as a stat.
Bruno made that goal, and should get the credit for it. But of course you then get those ‘assists’ where the goal scorer does all the work.

True, but they still went even further this campaign. Made an announcement on it at the start of the season.
One of the big differences that was always there was that getting fouled for a penalty counted. Not really applicable to Bruno as he takes them and you can't assist your own pen. Another was that if you shoot and the goalie parries it then someone knocks in the rebound you got one. Bruno on 21 on there now.
Three games to go. Still possible but feel like it'll happen if he doesn't try too hard to do it, if it makes sense
