I wonder if Conte will turn to a 4-2-3-1 formation to fit all of them in.
-----------Rich
Son --- Kane --- Kulu
Why do we need to fit them all in? We have a deep squad now which was always our weakness before. They will all get plenty of minutes.

Highly doubt he's going to move away from the formation he's played all his time at Spurs including all the game pre season, and a formation used most of his recent career.

Remember he flirted with a back 4 in the beginning with Chelsea, had mixed results, got a bit of a mauling at Arsenal so switched it to his preferred back 3 formation, and then they stormed the league with 90+ points.

Walmart Mourinho getting schooled by actual Mourinho, 0 shot on target against finished dinosaur who only spend 7m so far in transfer window , some modern football that. It seems like Mourinho has giving him the taste of his own medicine, it won't be hard to beat his team as long as you don't give them chance to counter , Roma was more aggressive for the first 30 minutes ,but after they scored, they were happy to surrender possession and sit back knowing spurs wouldn't be able to hurt them, you don't even know whether one of the deadliest duo in the world ( kane or son )! played or not. That should be the blue print for any premier league sides coming up against them.

It's a pre-season friendly mate.

He might win one of the domestic cups, but can’t see him coming close to win the league…

How you guys think your set @balaks? Happy with where you are? Any where you think you need more?
I am happy and am hopeful we will have a good season (top 4 at minimum and optimistic we can get higher). Still think we really need another centre back and probably a progressive midfielder to finish off the squad but I have to be pleased at the business we have done to date.

Friendlies are what really matters. Martial will win the Ballon D'or and Nunez will score no goals based purely on what we saw in their respective friendlies, guaranteed.

I dont know why people fixated with formations. Any formation modern coach used either pep klopp or conte attack with five and reserve five to defend.

This is tactical plan. Depends on players they have these coaches adjusted accordingly. If you have world class pacy defenders and very good dm then back four is good and fbs can move up the pitch. If not three defenders formation best. Conte didn't have world class defenders and good dm like pep and klopp have in their team. So reasonable to have back 3.

I am not believe in coaches like conte only good at back three formation alone. Its easy to get good wing backs than world class defenders and dms in this market. So he adjusted accordingly.

ETH why fixated in getting fdj same reason. He is classy player who can be dm as well as orchestrate team structure. Foot ball not played in formation board. Team who won most games surely have maintain the structure. City Liverpool have that.

Attack well and defend well is winning formula.Who ever the coach may be but maintaining this structure will win most matches. Not particular formation won you games.

So saying conte with three back formation can't win league is absurd. In fact he won the same league with 93 points playing 3 back formation.

Been saying to mates this is going to be the year Spurs win the league.

After Pep and Klopp he’s arguably the best of the rest of managers with ETH yet to prove it in the PL.

Strengthened their squad and has Kane looking fitter than he’s possibly ever been can see Spurs having a really good season.

If he wins it this season I predict he will have a major falling out with Levy the season after

I'd be amazed if Spurs won the league. Another season in the top 4 and maybe even a trophy would be a decent achievement.

PL title - No chance. Not while klopp and pep are still around. No matter how much Conte spends to strengthen Spurs, the other two will do just the same when required to stay ahead.

He may win a cup, but that’s it.

Despite some signings, they still don’t have a squad strong enough to win the title. I’m not even convinced their first XI is adequate enough to challenge for a PL title.

Its not formation its selection and tactics. While its true that lots of modern managers end up with some kind of 2-3-5 or 3-2-5 structure in possession, there are two massive differences between Conte's Spurs side and Pep/Klopp. First, the "defensive" five for Pep and Klopp include guys who contribute a lot to attack. Pep uses Cancelo as a wild card sixth attacker who can pop up in different places and also has a player like Rodri who can get forward at times too. Klopp will push Thiago/Henderson very close to the box. Conte lines up with three CBs and two very defensive DMs. None of Bissouma, Bentancur, or Hojbjerg offer much threat. Second and even more important, Conte's teams just don't press high very much out of possession. They don't generate chances off turnovers to nearly the same degree.

In sum, this Spurs team just isn't going to score consistently enough, especially against teams that sit deep, to keep up with Liverpool and City unless both those sides have horror seasons. They don't have enough different ways to create chances.

Winning the title ahead of this Liverpool or City team will be very hard. They're two of the best teams we've ever seen in the Premier League and even if you can beat one, beating both is a different issue entirely.

Part of the issue is quality, and Spurs are probably one or two world class players short, but the depth that City in particular have is incredible. I fancy Spurs to hold their own in one off games but to beat them over a season will be incredibly tough.

If Spurs did do it, it'd be the best Premier League win ever I think. But they're short a few world class players and whilst City can get by without KDB or Liverpool can get by without Salah, it'd be huge if Spurs lost Son or Kane.

Conte is a serial winner.

He has spent very wisely (Bissouma, Perisic-even at full back with his years of experience is a great buy) knows how to win a title and will take the other two to the wire in the league this season imo of course.

We can revisit this at the end of season just so I can told you so

Happy to wrong if it means ETH has won the title :)

Serial winners don’t perform miracles. The problem he has is Pep and Klopp are serial winners too. Unfortunately you can only have one winner. Liverpool and city have better squads, better managers and better starting elevens.

None of spurs players get into city or Liverpool side except for Kane and Son.

Not with Pep and Klopp in there. He needs one of the two to leave and the other to reach a squad rebuild, for Spurs to have any chance, even with Conte.

Their summer is being massively overplayed because it’s Spurs. Bissouma’s the only signing they’ve made that I’d be jealous of. Richarlison is a decent player nothing more, Lenglet couldn’t get in a poor Barca team, Perisic turns 34 this season and Spence is massively unproven. If City, Liverpool, United or Chelsea made these signings there would be eyebrows raised, so I don’t understand how they suddenly propel Spurs to a title charge. They’re still a Kane injury away from being average, which happens every season.

This serial winner of yours was moaning for 70% of last season that Spurs were a small club and he can't do anything about it until us and Arsenal imploded. Also he failed to win the Scudetto ahead of a declining Juve with fecking Chelsea flop Sarri while having outspent everyone in the league with Inter.

Same serial winner that finished 4th in his title defense in the PL.

Not sure what you see in him, but to me he is a discount Mourinho. Or as someone put it above Walmart Mourinho

It's a shame I don't have the name of all the posters who wanted him right away instead of waiting for EtH. because and I quote "he gurantees us a title with the current squad" . Funny, but not as funny as the fact that the same people are now saying that we need 10 new signings to be competitive again. :houllier:

He didn't finish fourth but fifth. But that season I wouldn't blame him. Chelsea board did him for his costa debacle. Morata and bakayoko for costa and matic. You can't blame him for that season yet he won fa Cup against you lot that season.

The only cup trophy he has ironically. Still, he league drop off is inexcusable for someone who is supposed to be a league expert.

because of the disruption with world cup in the middle of the season and lack of pre season preparation, I think we will see a bit of an erratic season especially in the first few months and think spurs will finish at least 2nd in the league.

He’s as much a serial winner as Conte. We can laugh all we want at Liverpool finishing 2nd, but if it wasn’t for klopp the premier league would be dead. City would walk away with it.

Conte is not taking that spurs team to winning the league regardless of how good he is. Klopp is much more likelier.

I was never a big fan of Conte but when he was available for us I believe we should have gone for him.

He would have won a title for United in 2 years as he always tends to do in his contracts and this bit of success would make us a proper successful football club again than being a club that lived in the 90’s.

We would have got some quality players like Kulusevski or Bissouma - arguably even better players because we have more money than Spurs as well.

Right now we have no one in any of our weak spots.

He just kinds of does it at Chelsea and all his other Italian clubs.

He can never win a CL or other cups that regularly but he kind of always wins a title.

For me Spurs are looking like the 2nd/3rd best club right now (I don’t rate Liverpool or Chelsea) with players like Kane and Son the experienced ones that can kill it and still wont find form for a couple months.

When he's done it before, it's not been the same level of challenge as it is with Spurs or Utd currently (and that's not me being bitter, because I'd throw Arsenal on that list).

If I'm wrong I'll throw my hands up and say he's a genius. But this is a different challenge altogether.

we have passed up a golden opportunity to hire this guy twice now, first when mourinho left and he was available and last season and yet both times we chose ole over appointing him, say that out loud and it is absolutely mental and speaks volumes about both our lack of ambition and obsession for living in the past.

And what makes it worse is that our player personnel on both occasions would have been perfect for his set and style of play, a midfield of pogba, matic and herrera would have suited him perfectly and throw in lukaku as well who was our striker at the time and I'm sure if he had joined all those players would still be here enjoying their time at the club under him.

He took the worst Juve ever (coming 7th and 7th) to the title in the following season; he took an absymal Italy (with Pelle, Zaza, Eder, etc.) to Euro 2016 QF and losing to penalties to Germany.

He kind of just does it by 2 seasons doesn’t he?

I don’t rate his knock out trophy football that much but he is absolutely insane when it comes to league football.
