Carabao Cup 2026: Semi-Finals

VAR is a joke , those looking at it are a joke , stioud amount to time to decide if it’s a goal and then the ref has to go and gave a look.
That has to be the worst offside VAR decision I have ever seen.

Amazing how many people don’t realise (including ITV commentary) that you need two people to play you onside
That's a good point. He's behind both of them so presumably he's onside. From what I remember you need to be in front of the last player (normally a goalie) and behind the second last.

Dimwits in Stockley park will ruin football. How did VAR's remit become "review every action and see if there's a way you can intervene, anyhow"?
That is such a shocking decision it's hard to believe.

Var was not brought in for that, we've been on the end of some shockers, but 5 mins looking at that?Ridiculous.

Clearly and obviously preventing him from blocking it? I don't think so
He was pushing Thiaw like an attacker would be pushing the wall of a defence before a free kick. He's impeded him and prevented him from clearing it and he's offside. Interfering with play, not sure what the issue is.

I don't think either of them were getting near it and I wouldn't call what Haaland was doing against the laws or the game in any case. It's a poor decision imo.

Amorim probably popping open some fine bubbly watching this.
Probably could've done a better job at convincing him to come in the summer. Or pushed to prioritize him over Cunha and/or Mbeumo (but instead we wanted 10s and not wingers)

Is there a reason for why we need to break up play and wait for a ref to run all the way over to the bench to give a random dude in the coaching team a yellow card? Can't we just make it so that he talks to the 4th official via the mic and lets him know to give him one?

As a full back, both offensively and defensively, Lewis Hall looks so much better than Diogo Dalot.

How are we stuck with such a poor player as a starter for the best part of half a decade?

Newcastle are shite. Take Guimaraes and Tonali out of their midfield and they're just Everton.

New buy scores two. Efficient, well-run club with good management.

Corrupt as feck, mind…

Because we are run by a bunch of morons. Watching City makes me sad as they remind me of how good we used to be (without being a fake oil club).

Why does Pep try so hard after every game to make it look like gives one feck about the pathetic club he manages.

As usual Pep is conducting interviews of every opposing player when he wins

If we end up with playing 4 at the back long term, I would like us to get him. And I take for given that Dalot will leave some time soon.

He seems very unimpressed even playing for a relatively big club. He's expressing himself and not holding back despite his young age. Gives his all defensively and can dribble. Smart little player.

An offside positioned Haaland prevented a Newcastle player from having any chance whatsoever to block a header towards goal. Seems like a texbook case of interfering with play.

why weren't the thick offsides lines afforded to Wirtz against Fulham not applied for City's disallowed goal?

Im not sure why Semenyo was playing when he should be cup tied because he already played in this seasons league cup for Bournmouth but his goal was rightly disallowed because Haaland is clearly fouling the defender on the line

You might be right but is this what VAR was brought in for?

5 minutes to identify a miniscule offside, that was not visible to the human eye and that not one single person playing or watching even spotted or appealed for.

VAR is just a load of shite, it's killing the game.

I'm not sure why they needed so long, but the decision seems to be spot on
