Was one of those sack-o-shite performances from the team last night that makes it hard to judge any player individually. If every pass a player receives is badly weighted and puts them under pressure, and all they can do is release another shit pass that puts the next guy under pressure too, where does the blame go?

Suffice it to say last night was the kind of night where we needed a real leader to sort the team out and it wasn't him. Im not sure Casemiro deserves more blame than anyone, but he was really disappointing in his own right.

I agree with this. Needs a run but obviously would help having better CBs behind him

Think he's been unlucky as well. The yellow that made him miss arsenal was sloppy play but also agreed he didn't need to make the challenge.
The 'choke' could have been avoided.
The second red is ridiculous in the context of consistency
Todays he didn't seem to touch the player...

I'm mixed on this with regards to him
He got booked for insinuating the referee needed to go to Specsavers not the actual tackle

No way?

I need to see that again. I mean, it didnt look like he touched the guy, but yeah, you could be like this towards refs (especially when not playing for a spanish club :wenger:)

Was it me being blind or at times he seemed very gassed, even at the start of the game?

Don't think should be a worry, but we need another CM to play besides him and help him with defensive transitions. At times last night he was going forward and nobody was left behind. Sevillia were recovering the ball and going through our midfield like cheese.

“His passing was terrible”

If there is nobody to pass to, it does make his job a lot harder. Sancho was scared, Martial was anonymous, Eriksen disappeared.

No, it wasn’t Casemiro’s best game by any stretch of the imagination, but he can’t do anything about his passing if there is nowhere to go.

Well it was either that or it was a beer goggles impression he's picked up

He was kinda awful on Thursday. Looked Gassed from like 10 minutes on and like he was running in treacle and just letting people run past him. Then there was his passing which was not up to scratch bar maybe a couple of good ones. Just seems weird that he’s gone off the boil so much during his ban as he was poor in the last game as well I felt.
Sure he’ll be alright, is a long season after all and its probably starting to take its toll.

He has been in awful form since his return from the first suspension.
I like my DM to be a defensive man and wide forward to stay a wide man. There is a reason we have been crying out for a dm because it’s a specialist role but him trying be that box to box guy currently is poor form. I don’t care for dm that score in open play because you were out of position in the first place.
In my opinion he is the best pound for pound dm around but he has not been playing the role right recently. By trying/assigned to also do the role of others weakens the team and leaves us a very open team.
Just play the role how you did it at Madrid and stop trying to be Pele in United midfield. He is the most important player in this team but he exposing everyone by not sticking to his job.

Hard to have match Fitness when he’s banned twice in succession within 5/6 week period? Only himself to blame at the min until his rhythm is back.

He had a ton of really important stuff in between moments of looking old and tired.

Had his pocket picked in dangerous areas a little bit more frequently than is acceptable. Did some decent stuff (particularly after Pastor Fred came on) but generally outperformed substantially by Caicedo.

Mixed performance again but wasn't bad. Hopefully the extra minutes will do him good.

He did ok, better than his last two games despite going a lot to the ground very easily without winning the ball.

We've still not found a better midfielder for us than Carrick since his retirement, unfortunately.

A runner? He needs passer next to him so he can keep it simple and not expose himself

He was trash today
Poor choice of words by me. Runner as in someone athletically capable of going box to box next to him, on top of being decent passing wise also of course.

He had bad moments but he did a lot of good stuff and was positionally good as well. I wouldn't say it was a one-man midfield before Fred came on but he was isolated and because of Brighton's pressing, didn't have that many options. He did dawdled on the ball and got caught mind.

I agree he needs a passer next to him, but he did have good passing moments. He often doesn't dawdle on the ball apart from that really bad moment when he got tackled from behind. Sometimes that quickness helps us unsettle the opposition defense.

Some drama queens in here. He grew into that well and will no doubt hit some great form in the games to come. Then you’ll be back in here wanking yourselves daft.

Him losing the ball in the middle is at the rate of prime Pogba, and he's a Red card walking too.. We just need him though. Now please don't play him with grandpa Eriksen ever again, Top flight footy needs athleticism, otherwise we can say goodbye to any cups..

Made 7 tackles and 6 interceptions. Defensively, he did extremely well. Thought he was better in extra time.

Did get caught on the ball a bit, but think that will work out completely in the next game.

Good penalty also.

He got better as the game went on, after a pretty bad start. Encouraging.

We played better when he became more adventurous. Needs to make more forward runs.

His defensive positioning is still top notch but Caicedo was just faster than him. His long passing is still off, hopefully it's just a result of missing many games and he'll be back to his best as more games are played.

Defensively good and grew into the game as others have said

He does at times look hesitant to tackle given some of the ridiculous decisions and Inconsistency when refs make decisions

Did a lot of tidy work but got caught a couple of times too, which is expected against a decent pressing team. Hopefully he can kick back on now for the remainder of the season.

Feels like every game he gets a completely needless early booking, spends the rest of the game having to pull out of challenges because he can't risk another tackle.

Someone should tell him maybe he should just stop getting an early yellow every game.

Tbf no other Spanish or Portuguese speaking midfielder would take a yellow for that foul especially that early in the game.

Not great. Got ran ragged today by an energetic Brighton team. I'm a little concerned at how he's struggling to get back into position at times, almost waddling back. And even more concerned when he keeps giving it away.

I think we need to find a way to get him back to what he's best at. He's had a few promising forays forward this season, but ultimately I want him protecting our backline, and keeping it simple most of the time. I don't want him having to react to huge spaces, lunging into tackles and and being a playmaker. He's at the tail end of his career, he's not going to do well in ping pong football. Of course a lot of this is needs must at the moment, we need better options around him. He probably did work better with Fred covering some of the ground.

Horrible performance first 45 and excellent after the introduction of Fred.

I thought as soon as Fred came in he looked much much better. Was breaking up loads of play and his passing improved.
