If we're defending deep (so he doesn't actually have to run anywhere), he's still a ballwinning machine.

Glad he's started to string some good performances together. Won a lot of duels.

Had a good game, still a good player in the head just that his body is slowing down, in defensive tactics he can be a good player.

Still great defensively when he has to cover smaller spaces. Plus he's always going to have quality on the ball. Playing a bit more pragmatically is suiting him. Still needs to go but playing to his strengths at least.

Not sure if he's capable of starting 3rd game in 7 days but guess we'll have Ugarte by the Sociedad game?

Good performance from Casemiro. Midfield of Casemiro-Eriksen-Bruno was bit of a throwback to early ten Hag era when we beat Arsenal.

Still has a decent performance in him from time to time, but not enough for the club to not continue to look for ways to offload his wages in the summer.

All true and I will give him credit for what he did today because I have been sticking the boot in on him for months.

Probably should've got an assist for nicking the ball for Hojlund late on as well.

Its a classic, if you play to his strengths he's still a player with Casemiro. A player worth £350k a week? That's another story. But a player nonetheless.

Yes his legs are gone but since we're stuck with him, Casemiro should be starting for us once every week or 2. It's not rocket science that we're more fun to watch and perform better with him.

Manage his minutes he can still be a useful player. All good trying to force a player out but better to just use what you have I think.

Manage his mins but players his age and condition need at least one game a week.

You can't leave Casmeiro out for a month then drop him back in. He will and does look awful in that situation.

I still think he fits into our strongest 11.

I’d partner him with Ugarte/Collyer and let Bruno play higher.

So how much of this is “his legs are gone” and how much of it is that he never got asked to cover so much ground before. He had Modric and Kroos ahead of him, which is about as perfect of a midfield as you can get, and Madrid didn’t exactly play the most expansive pressing type of game.

I’m sure he’s dropped off, but have we just completely mis-profiled the player when signing him and asked him to do stuff he was never really best at doing.

How was he good exactly? We had Arsenal midfielders running with the ball and shooting around our box at will. We got lucky Arsenal were not on their game, I think he was crap.

In short we limited arsenal to low chance scoring opportunities.

He was good yesterday, I can’t believe we almost sold him in January without replacement.
This mis- management of just getting rid of players without replacing them most stop.
We need a good squad to compete in the premiership.

Said since the start that he has that “Rooney” thing about him too

You need to play him every game to keep him sharp, his fitness falls quickly when he’s not regularly playing

I think some of us said it last season that he was given too much space to cover. To be fair early season this year he was also getting caught on the ball a bit too much.

He still has his uses and we should get the best we can out of him over the next year.

The only other midfielder in our team brave enough to make a forwad pass besides Bruno

We limited feck all. It was like most weeks, you will just act all shocked when Leicester score from the same positions that Arsenal failed yesterday. You just can't have that lack of control in the PL and expect a controlled and good result.

He lost Rice for the goal but he played quite well. He's very good in the air and his cushion headers stand out when I watch him.

Hopefully he can do a job against Sociedad.

Yeah last season’s midfield was a joke from Ten Hag. I guess the issue is that we can’t play with 35% possession every week, but maybe Casemiro is good to use in the big games when we’re likely to be up against it.

Amidst the difficulties we've had under Amorim, I think Case is a player who has massively benefitted from his arrival.

Others have pointed it out but under Ten Hag he was asked to cover a frankly ridiculous amount of space in midfield. I'd be uncomfortable asking fecking prime Kante to cover those gaps, let alone an ageing midfielder.

Whilst other aspects of our play have suffered, we are at least a more compact side under Amorim which is meaning that Case no longer has to cover half the pitch and is able to showcase that he is still, in fact, quite a capable player.

Man Utd 4:1 Real Sociedad New
It makes a huge difference having multiple forward passing options in the midfield set up. The Ugarte/Mainoo pairing doesn't have that and it makes them predictable and hard for the forwards to makes runs off. Play Bruno next to Ugarte and the opposition can just key in on Bruno, having someone else who can open the play up is just far more balanced.

Had a couple of shocking moments, firing the ball at Heaven in our box from 10 yards away was inexplicable and put us in trouble.

Played a couple of fantastic passes forward to Bruno though, so he hit both ends of the scale.

Very good performance. I won't lie that I'm not a fan of having a DM that does so many 20-30 yard hopeful-looking passes, but most of them came off today.

Also, did I see him sprint at one point in the second half?!

Could be pivotal if we're to go far in this tournament. The pace is a bit slower and he's creative with those passes over the top. Great performance and great to see him get such an ovation from the crowd.

His passing is so inconsistent and has been ever since he got here. Capable of some classy quick one touch passes but also some mental ones too

He won a foot race! We don't have to add that the other player slipped and lost his footing two or three times. He won a foot race!
