Personally I think this type of character is exactly what we need on the field. You can say what you want about his legs but there's no reason he can't stay deep and have an impact on the game, we weren't asking a 38 year old Paul Scholes to get up and down the pitch, we shouldn't be asking Case to either.

The way he stares at Dalot after his feck up

His performance shows the need for progressive passers in the centre of the park, makes so much difference. An athletic eriksen would be ideal

Ok he's slow and wrong side of 30 but he gives us a bit of calm and stability. Still an important player for us. Shows moments of class as well which I didn't believe he had in him at first.

Played well, will likely always look better against less physical sides.

Agreed.

I'd also keep him for another year if we get in the Champions League.

His experience is gonna be beneficial in another season of 55-65 matches.

seems like Ugarte surplus to requirements, just an utterly bizare signing because even when Casemiro's goes back to his usual level we then have this talentless shin kicker who is scared to pass forward. Let's hope Casemiro keeps it up

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.

He played very well against Arsenal to be fair and they're a strong side but generally I agree. If we play more of a low block or in Europe he's useful. It felt like Amorim acknowledged that in the post match too.

I'm pleased he got such a great reception when he was taken off last night.

This was very apparent during Eriksens 1st season. Hopefully we finally address it in the next window.

Kind of amazing it's taken months for the penny to drop for the current coaching staff. Just now realising Casemiro isn't suited for pressing high and covering lots of space.

Fans could have told them that day one.

I enjoy watching him even though the legs aren't there. You can see why he was such a good player. Still makes more tackles than anyone.

They did realise, that's why he didn't play when they pressed in that way.

Casemiro is going to be monumentally important in the Europa league.

I admire that he still loves to get stuck in.. I just hate the way he sells himself and goes to ground so easily at times.

Case is still a world class holder. He just was asked to play like prime Kante for a season chasing the ball as a lone pivot

With the lack of playmakers in the team he startet to took too many risks and the pace of the game in England showed him he can be easily found out. I dont know how much faster he was in Madrid but definitely didn't try to make the play. With Real Madrid being so dominant he swept after Modric and Kroos and kept the ball going. Here we didnt have plamakers neither defensively sound players and neither a real structure, woth almost every team these days equiped with a great manager with ability to press , so it was never a good for him here.

I just like him though, he's a good proffessional, shame he's just a horrible mismatch for Amorim's system. I can hardly see him on his wages stay another season.

The man can still put in a proper shift, but the salary Case commands is far too great and needs to be shown the door to a Saudi club that befits a proper Real legend in his twilight years.

Nobody is gonna take him lads.

He provides good quality cover in the 2 midfield positions. We just have to tighten the pitch for him so he's not chasing shadows.

Ronaldo earns 180m (euros) annually in Saudia Arabia*, according to Google. If it's true that Case is paid 350k/week (pounds) my calculation is that that works out to 18m a season. We might just find a buyer of Case's services -- on a free transfer, without question -- for 18m for what has to be the last two years of his contract.

*According to local media, Cristiano will earn a salary close to €180 million for the 2025/26 season. Although this figure is slightly lower than the more than €200 million he currently receives, it remains a contract that reflects his status and importance in Middle Eastern football.

I think they've changed from just buying celebrities in Arabia. I don't think they'll be interested in Casemiro but hope I'm wrong.

While it would be nice to get his wages down I can think of worse things than having a proven leader in the lockerroom. Hopefully he’s helping the younger players learn.

You're probably right about that as I haven't read of the Saudis spending crazy money lately for top players past their peak.

As other posters have noted, it would be great if we could keep Casemiro but on reduced wages. But no professional athlete that I've ever heard of at least has ever voluntarily reduced his wages to remain with a top club. I like to think that if I were already more than set for the rest of my life and the lives of my grandchildren, as Casemiro is, that I would do exactly that -- but since I will never be in that position I will never know if I would actually live up that audacious claim.

I'm just glad we've fought our way back to the point that everyone is not shit at the same time so everyone gets the chance for a bit of praise every couple of weeks. The memory of what an in form Cas looks like has been sand blasted from our memory by the sheer volume of shit we've had to watch over the last 18 months. Good to see him play well again.

Yeah he's actually been playing alright too the last few weeks hasn't he, just not like a player who should be on £350k p/w.

Nah it's dog eat dog I reckon. I'm sure Casemiro has loads of stories of people he knows getting shafted by clubs. I'd say the thought never entered his mind. And there'd be an agent on hand if it did :)

Nottingham Forest 1:0 Man Utd
Decent and had few headers though Sels dealt with those comfortably. Felt he may get 2nd yellow so correct decision from Amorim to take him off.

Absolute beast - such a shame our attack let us down after he constantly won the ball back.

When we replace him - we need to replace him with someone who can actually play football and isn’t just there to run up and down a pitch.

After Fernandes he is the only player in the side with a modicum of quality with his vision and passing

He was ok taking into account he is so immobile. We desperately need a better option next season though as his inability to run is a huge disadvantage.

He's really starting to play well again recently. First choice at the moment for those centre midfield spots.

Good performance and hopefully to follow it with similar one at Lyon as we'll need it.
