There's the guy who is a multiple Champions League winner.
This. Winner mentality is just there. There's the guy who is a multiple Champions League winner.
There's is still some fight in the old dog
You're absolutely spot on and that is the problem that needs rectifying. Our first two goals came from long balls over the top and we played a team who set out to play higher up the pitch and they couldn't defend the transitions. The ball over the top was a big issue for them and our backline was mostly instrumental in progressing the ball forward. But I'm glad Amorim kept Casemiro on because otherwise we wouldn't have had a chance at all because at the very least, he (Casemiro) plays with courage and wants to get the ball forward. That’s why he played the whole game. Outside of Fernandes he’s the only creative player we have
Eriksen has that ability too.He made the difference at the death and his ability to actually pass forward is a weapon in itself when you look at the other CMs around him. The only other CM we've got who can provide that is Mainoo and I'm glad they were both on the pitch at the end.
You're correct he does have that ability. The problem is that against physically imposing teams, we don't score some of the goals we did today. And against those teams (mainly in the EPL) we need need more than just vertical passing and it has to be backed up with pace and athleticism out of possession imo. I'm not asking for Rodri, Carrick or Kroos but it would be nice to have all-rounder midfield players like the ones Liverpool have had and currently Arsenal. Players who can play the box to box role and are a positive both in-possession and out of possession.Eriksen has that ability too.
He is on 350k per week, he needs to leave in the summer regardless.3 assists in about 7 mins (assuming he gets one for the pen?)
What a player. I still think if we manage his minutes he’s worthwhile keeping unless we get a silly offer. Not many of the team have his mentality.
