Rolled back the years last night. Hopefully a few more performances like that in the remaining Europa games.

Defensive liability, attacking hero.

Don't think if we'd started Bruno in CM instead and Mount/Mainoo in #10 that we'd have blown that lead. But it's hard to argue with his influence on the comeback. That winning mentality is incredible.

I see the negative bores are in here. Like fleas on a dog. But my oh my. Thinking back what a performance that was. Maguire I gave MOTM. Bruno was immense. Yoro too, great character. Dalot was great. Garna too. Everyone really did their utmost. But on reflection, what a performance from Casemiro. He was unbelievable in guts, in positioning in possession and out. And his passes won us that, no question. Love the guy. Still buzzing from that awesome game
Thank gps there is some common sense, he was immense last night, that was RM premium Casemiro. I truly believe that he and others are just in a dark place because of constant noise about the club and the league position. Last night he was on point.

He was exceptional at the end of the game, his inability to run is still a problem but it’s much less noticeable in Europe as opposed to the Premier League.

Hopefully someone is persuaded to take him on over the summer based on his recent performances, his quality with the ball is still very good when he gets a bit of time.

Vital to our EL ambitions. His European experience is invaluable.
Wonder what his record in Bilbao is.

Bruno, Casemiro and Maguire the three leaders were absolutely amazing yesterday.

Casemiro will be absolutely vital for us in the next Europa game but we should most definitely let him go next season. He has served us well in moments but we need younger and more consistently energetic players who are not past their prime if we want to build for the future.

He has done well since Ruben decided that we are going to play a little deeper. His experience is invaluable. His passing can be bit erratic but can be devastatingly effective too when it comes off. On top, his is excellent at set-pieces. We need to make sure that he is available for all three remaining Europa games.

"his legs have gone" they said, me included...

well he found a new set last night...and rolled back the years with a really strong performance.

He’s been great for a while now. But that was excellent again last night. Really happy for him to have a bit of a positive experience here, would have been a shame for somebody like him to have a poor end to their career and for us to be responsible.

Fully agreed, been happy to see him doing well and he offers so much on, and likely off, the pitch. He is a willing runner into the box and tries dangerous creative passes which we need.

When only one player is trying to be creative it makes it a lot easier to nullify which is why it's important to have midfielders other than just Bruno who like to try and get the ball into dangerous areas.

It's one of the worst signings in our entire history.

Ha ha, as if.

He’s not far off being our most important player now and he absolutely was that in his first season.
We’ve made a feck tonne of expensive utterly shite signings that have failed miserably to make any contribution so this post is an absolute car crash.

I’ll also add Madrid spent more money on a 29 yr old midfielder 24 years ago.
Bayern spent a feck tonne more on a 30 yr old in 2023.

Age doesn’t decide how good a signing is, in that case RVP would be rated low, but contribution does.
Cas shits on the contribution of many an expensive signing.

I for sure didn't see this coming. Solid in midfield and 2 vital assists.

Don’t say it too loudly, but the system has helped our midfielders a lot. Having the 3CBs behind them allows them to be a bit more adventurous in the positioning. They can move forward at times and we’re not be countered on constantly or concede 20 shots per game. It also condenses the space and leaves him defending smaller areas instead of vast spaces ie he’s no longer exposed.

But yeah, good on him for keeping going and now it’s paying off. He, Maguire and Zirkzee have shown great character to turn things around here.

A question for everybody, do your still want him gone in the summer or is he looking like a good asset now?

If we got money for him / could offload his huge wages then yes still. But he doesn’t seem to want to leave. So I won’t hate having him round as someone who can still do a good job and is obviously a strong character having won it all.

Yeah absolutely. His game on the ball is pretty decent, you can see he has that quality and that’s why he was vital to Real for so long. He’s probably more expensive here as he doesn’t have Kroos and Modric beside him.

As mentioned in my post above though, I think the system has given him some security and it’s meant he’s only got to cover smaller areas, and he has a phenomenal ability to win the ball if he can get close. Ten Hag hung him out to dry with his system.

How much would we get do you think? It’d have to be good money to bring in a midfielder of his quality. Anything less than £30m is a no from me, and even then I think having his winning mentality is priceless too.

If we could buy a top player with the money then fair enough.

Foul on him for penalty and 2 assists. We said he'd be useful for Europa and he's proven it big time. Will still need couple more big performances obviously.

Did we ever get a replay of the handball? Seemed such a weird call by the ref and don’t remember actually seeing it relayed + one of the commentators said the same thing

Fine in the EL but a liability in the faster and more physical PL. Should be moved on in the summer if at all possible.

That fleas bit made me chuckle

No one except a Saudi club would pay anything but a nominal fee from him.

I’ve enjoyed his improved form, but he’s shown he wouldn’t be a good buy for a PL team, and there aren’t any other clubs who would commit to a transfer fee and massive wages for two/ three seasons.

Yeah I think the fee would be pretty insignificant and therefore it’s probably worth keeping him. Especially if he keeps up this form. Ruben has figured his game out a bit better now and it is showing, he’s said so himself.

Also it sounds like he really wants to stay and I’ll never have an issue with a player wanting to stay as long as they’re putting in the effort and not just collecting his wages each week. At the end of the day they’ve committed to us and they are well within their rights to stay and fight for their place. Like I said, I have no issue with any player that is willing to do that.

Added to what everybody else said about him assisting the goals, He's one of the few that isn't afraid to challenge for the ball in the air in both boxes which can be valuable

We missed him when he was on the bench. His legs are gone and he’s prone to a brain fart but he’s miles ahead technically of any of our other midfielders apart from Bruno (not counting Eriksen).
We really need to replace what he brings at his best, if possible.

Win the EL and a Saudi team might give us 20m for him, which would be great business, especially with the wage he is on.
