Yeah very hard to argue with any of that!Of course. You laugh your way to the bank if anyone wants to take him in the summer.
He's been fairly good lately (and was great against Lyon yesterday), but he's one of the highest paid players in the world. He's making far more than lots of players than far better than him at this point. INEOS will accept in a heartbeat if Saudi wants to take him.
You could buy two top talent midfielders for £350k a week. That's more than Bruno Guimaraes + Joelinton make combined (reportedly), for reference. Or MacAllister + Szobozslai.
Doesn't matter, it's quite clear that he doesn't want to go to SaudiHere’s an interesting thought: given his recent performances, I wonder if he might be once again attractive to the likes of Saudi clubs. And if so, would we want to sell him?
Save his legs for the Europa League.
Yup. No Saudi club will make any move until 2026 and Casemiro is happy to collect one more season of massive wages. Next contract will be much less generous. No one except a Saudi club would pay anything but a nominal fee from him.
I’ve enjoyed his improved form, but he’s shown he wouldn’t be a good buy for a PL team, and there aren’t any other clubs who would commit to a transfer fee and massive wages for two/ three seasons.
When he's poor, he's awful, but when he's good he's a joy to watch.
I'm glad that Amorim is actually using him more now. He had played him in a midfield with Eriksen (against Newcastle in OT if I recall) and he had a very poor game, and Amorim put him in cold storage for a few months.
Which I thought was exceptionally harsh, because if you want to get anywhere near the best out of Casemiro, you put legs around him, you do not pair him with Eriksen!
And also foolish because of the paucity of the squad, you cannot have a player of Casemiro's experience and quality languishing on the bench, even if he's not in your long term plans.
Yes, if a decent offer comes in for him, it's a good business decision to move him on, but might as well use him as best as possible while we can!
There’s always ignore powder….That fleas bit made me chuckle![]()
Casemiro of course.Who pissed in your cornflakes?
True. But I think that PL might be to "fast" for him now. The same with Eriksen. We can all moan about his wages, but there aren’t many midfielders in the world who can do what Casemiro did for us yesterday.
It really wasn’t wishful thinking, just a case of opening your eyes and watching the player.
Like so many other midfielders, when exposed it’s almost an impossible job. He’s always been an absolutely brilliant footballer and serial winner with an incredible mentality, that doesn’t suddenly just completely drop because you get one year older.
When he’s played in the right system, alongside the likes of Ugarte who has serious legs, you’d have to be blind to not see he’s still very good.
Indeed. Proven to be an effective treatmentThere’s always ignore powder….

Eriksen is still a really good player and one of our most technically strong players. But, like Casemiro, he is too slow for the PL. I have seen Eriksen play for our national team, and here he performs quite well - most recently in the games against Portugal, where he scored and quite frankly should have scored a hattrick. So he still works against good teams that do not play at the same pace as most teams do in the PL.Casemiro and Eriksen are on different planets. Lyon was a very tough opponent and Casemiro came up huge. Eriksen was a nonfactor.
If we do strengthen the squad this summer and start playing good football Casemiro will still have an important role to play for us. Unless it’s all about getting rid of his wages, we would not be wise to throw Casemiro into the trash heap.
Sorry, just seen this. Yeah, he was excellent, my MOTM last night, and to be honest that was *before* their red card, and his assists, which were the icing on the cake. The media have focussed a lot on the 30mins extra time (for obvious reasons, it was absolutely crazy!), but he was already having a fantastic game. I'd still be quite surprised if that kind of performance becomes the new normal though, but we'll see. He's definitely got that kind of in-built mindset about him.
I might be mis-remembering, but I'm sure there was a lot of chat when he first joined about how he grows into a season; often rusty at first but getting better and better in final third.

Casemiro will decide what happens to Casemiro not the marketIn reality I think the market will decide what happens with Casemiro.
If a bid comes in for him, I don't think there's even the slightest chance we opt against taking that opportunity to shift him and his insane wages out of the club. If there's no bid, then we have no choice but to try to get as much as we can out of him for another season.
And at the very least he's shown he can still offer something in certain games and with certain players around him. And (as Amorim pointed out after the Lyon game) the lesser physicality in other competitions compared to the PL can be quite telling.
I think this is very respectful and fair, they have both been great players but past their best by a distance.Christian Eriksen is an absolute legend of the game, not just for Denmark. But although he came back brilliantly from a heart attack and had a very productive first season for us, he should seriously consider retiring. But if he finds another club in Italy or Spain more power to him and his family. But we are here to discuss Casemiro, whose impact on what so far is the most important game of our miserable season cannot be overstated. I agree with the assessment that he has lost the athleticism that made him a dominant central midfielder at his peak but he is still a class above midfielders in the PL. We won't want him starting in most PL matches but when we're in the barrel against all but the very top clubs I would want Casemiro to help us climb out of it, as was the case this week.
However, his wages are a legitimate objection to his continued employment by the club,
