Unbeaten in 7 (?) European finalsHe's the only reason I feel even remotely confident about the final. I really hope he can make the difference today once again.
Exactly what I feared when the line-ups were announced.Wasn't helped by not having Ugarte's legs beside him, but that's ultimately a result of his own lack of legs.
Wasnt a problem today, Spurs barely crossed the half way line. If anything we probably could've even tossed Eriksen on there and it wouldn't have changed much.Exactly what I feared when the line-ups were announced.
Everyone needed Ugarte's energy. Casemiro and the attack because that duo gives the attack the platform to, you know, attack without having to worry about Casemiro being left alone on the counter.
Before they scored, even though we had the majority of the ball, I think they found it way too easy to get into our 3rd before they shut up shop.Wasnt a problem today, Spurs barely crossed the half way line. Even then they weren't really getting into our third. The only times they did anything was when we handed them the ball because we love passing it from LWB to LCB to GK to CB to RCB to RWB to RCB to CB and so on until we give the ball away. Building out from the back, don't you just love it.Before they scored, even though we had the majority of the ball, I think they found it way too easy to get into our 3rd before they shut up shop.
Agree with thisHe played Casemiro because he offers more of a goal threat from set pieces than our entire attack in general play.
He didn’t score and we lost, but we didn’t lose because Spurs ran through our midfield. They created nothing all game and scored a jammy winner after our captain and talisman gave the ball to them cheaply for the 400th time over 90 minutes.
That said, we should be trying to sell him this summer. We need to build a young hungry squad and a guy with no legs on 400k a week is not the right profile.

I feel for him. Left out for dead by ETH and now Amorim tonight.
He has his own issues but playing him alone or with non-midfielders is just brain dead.
It makes for grim reading. Almost as grim as watching it in real time!Even then they weren't really getting into our third. It was a bundled in cross. Our playing out from the back absolutely was an issue because we kept the ball there all game and didn't bother taking risks to create anything. Spurs didn't bother taking risks to create either, they hardly bothered to attack in the 1st and completely just parked the bus in the 2nd. We effectively lost to a team who didn't bother attacking because we were too focused on keeping possession and being risk averse and not having an attacking threat.Their goal came from our midfield handed the ball over with sloppy passing while trying to attack too fast. Playing out from the back wasn't the problem, it was our careless midfield.
There were no defensive issues tonight. He wasn't played alone.
He just didn't play well. Same as Bruno. Neither passed it well.
Casemiro can't concentrate on his defending, interceptions and passing because he has to be careful playing next to Bruno, who basically also has to be careful with the same things.
That takes away both of their games. Neither Bruno or Casemiro can drop deep knowing they have an athletic cover and neither can the run into the box late.
They both didn't play well but they were both hung out to dry by Amorim's selection.

Congrats on your childs goal line clearance by the way. There wasn't any out running or out-physicalitying going on, game went pretty much as I figured it'd go with us dominating possession and them trying to counter. Hoped we would be able to score with our possession and felt Spurs wouldn't create anything (they didn't). Just bundled it into our own net, it is what it is.
Nah he was just rubbish. No excuses. He's been like this for two years. You don't know what type of performance you're going to get from him game to game.
I've enjoyed him at United but that's how it for players past their best and struggling with their legs. How they're going to perform is a lottery.
To be honest it was an entirely predictable way of losing. Think if you replay the same game 10 times we'd win it more often, but they bundled in a goal and it is what it is. This game deserved a goal that shit, and we deserve exactly what we got from it.I get you're upset, but taking it out on me isn't the right target.
The real events were somewhere in the middle of our predictions. Our midfield was sloppy on the ball which led directly to their goal, we couldn't score, and van de Ven won the final for them, as I suggested would happen. But we did dominate possession and control the game for the most part, weren't beaten physically, and Spurs created very little, as you suggested would happen.
To be honest I think I'd rather have been right and we'd just gotten battered, this was a much more frustrating loss, entirely of our own doing. Sloppy in midfield, poor concentration at the back, and impotent up front.
He should have received and passed the ball better then. Get the basics right. That's any players platform.I'm not saying he's our answer in the long term. I'm talking specifically for this game. He's never lost a final before and he scored our first goal against Newcastle in the League Cup Final two years ago.
He's a big fecking time player and he should have been given a platform to succeed. Well that applies to the whole team.
For what's its worth, I'll gladly take any transfer for him this summer.
