Not sure what people are talking about. It has been a good game from us and the result is undoubtedly terrific but does anybody want us to play the way we did today all the time? Obviously he can still offer something, obviously he has his uses but whats the point in trying to taylor our games towards such flawed players who are anything than the future. Casemiro had a good game today, kudos to him, but lets face it, we scored one before Liverpool was really awake and we scored from something akin to a set piece. We didn't have a hold of the midfield at all.

Yeah he’s doing a job to the best of his ability, our midfield is a bit of a make do and has a very low bar. We could upgrade massively on both him and Bruno but it’s the best we’ve got.

Glad he was taken straight off after getting booked but there is a noticeable drop off after he was taken off.

I agree. Though I'd be a little cautious putting changes in the game all to one player. I mean, it wasn't just us who switched players, Liverpool pushed more, changed personal as well. So who knows whether it wouldn't have looked exactly the same with Casemiro on the pitch. For the way we defended for most of the game, I guess, the other options would have looked a little more solid than they do usually as well. I don't want to take anything away from him, the players determination is fantastic and he certainly looks like a model pro.

He reminds me of a little kid at a birthday party. Having the time of his life for an hour, and then suddenly runs out of steam and gets tired, and wants to go home. In the process of doing that, he starts doing things, like kicking the other children or running into furniture.

He's our best for that position and we look worse without him.

Thought he was pretty note perfect until the card. You could see at that stage that all his energy was gone. Lots of travel with a couple of internationals obviously took its toll on him. However, if he keeps performing like he did today I think he will be good for us.
(As someone in the match thread said, maybe the all white kit suited him!!!)

Played well till the yellow. Not sure if he was already coming off and made the foul on purpose or it was the other way around.

One of my favourite things is how he always looks for the first time ball over the top for the runner in behind. He never dwells on the ball.

His legs obviously aren’t what they used to be but you can see he is a quality player still.

The drop from him to Ugarte pains me every time. It's the time in the game to start worrying about simple things and it's an unsettling feeling.

I think it's time to make use of technology. He should command Ugarte remotely from the dressing room telling him where to go, what to do, etc.

a 25 years old Case and a 28 years old Modric would be a perfect duo in Amorim's midfield... just saying

Which is a suprising aspect of him, as I thought he was just a simple passer in Madrid (having not watched much of them). But some times in previous seasons especially, he gives the ball away too much in trying those things, feels like he has the licence to try more passes and express himself at United.

We need to figure out how to cope without him in midfield in this system. Noticable dropoff

Casemiro doing an silly tackle for a yellow is almost like a hidden message to Amorim to replace him, or he's going to get a red card in the next 5mins

Said it before, and I'll say it again - we play better football with him. He's a great player! His legs went as he did that late tackle for a deserved yellow. It was the right decision to take him off, but we fall apart in midfield without him. His passing, his composure and positioning are all world class. I would love him to be faster, but even in his prime at RM, he was always a little slow - it's been a weakness of him, but at RM he sat much lower and had Pepe and Ramos behind, who could sit very high because of both being very fast defenders.

I think you have to consider that in an all-time midfield with one of the best passers to ever play and another who is a lot more adept alongside him, Casemiro had the common sense to defer to superior users of the ball and focus on his own specialist aspects.

Here, he's probably second only to Bruno (and Licha) for the range of passes he has in his locker, so naturally he assumes a role and duty with his passing that he didn't have at Madrid.

Haven't been very complimentary of him in recent times but thought he was great yesterday. Really good at anticipating and making critical interceptions.

Hes started in every game we've played well in.
Ugarte played over him vs Brentford and City.

This is not a coincidence, he's still got it at one game a week. Imagine him in a midfield 3!

Ugarte was basically on the touchline at this point.

Casemiro very likely knew he's having 60 mins after the Brazil games, it looked very much like a planned transfer. The yellow to stop a counter at that point was clever.

He was good while he was on, also weird no one mentioned that he got a "professional yellow" because Dalot is useless with the ball at his feet. That attempt for a cross, if you can even call that, from Dalot almost cost us a dangerous counter against and could've ended up with us conceding if not for Casemiro just taking down Salad.

Also might be in the minority here, but thought Ugarte was pretty decent after coming on, even keeping the ball well in tight spaces when needed.

Good performance, but thank goodness he was subbed as soon as he got a yellow.

Agree about Ugarte, even turned with the ball in midfield at one point.

Yeah agree. People would complain due to it looking negative but of the midfielders we have, always felt Ugarte next to Casemiro should provide the best balance on the pitch as well. Hold down the middle then you can be more attacking out wide.

He needs Bruno to get back in form and then things will look a bit better for our midfield. Right now it's Case in solid form, but his performance can be badly influenced by Bruno or Dalot losing the ball all the time.

Casemiro's been really good but think we're too reliant on him and that's not ideal given he's 33. Guess it's possible to do it for some time given we've got only one game a week but have to bring in someone else as early as January, summer is too far away.

Why do people keep saying it was a silly tackle?

Dalot lost the ball at the edge of their box, amad and Bruno were high as expected, salah was running at Shaw, de ligt and maguire with isak on support and gapko probably not far behind.

It was a dangerous counter attack and a fantastic fk and yellow for the team.

He’s our best CM and that’s a problem. We need to get a new CM in the January window.

He gets a lot of stick but game after game he is doing very good job. I would keep him (for lower salary) of course.
I really think we shouldn't keep him after this season, we must move on from him, obviously we must sign a high quality DM to replace him but we must move on from him come summer.

He is still very good even at 33 and playing in midfield 2. How I wish he was younger and still has his legs.

At his age, he is more suited to play midfield 3. But take nothing away, he is by far our best CM. We struggle without him.

Just imagine next season we have proper CMs in Baleba and Wharton.

One game a week, Case is still class for 70-75 mins. I would certainly keep him, flog Ugarte and get couple of midfielders in the summer.

It’s worrying how poor our midfield looks when he is not playing, especially when he is in his last year of his contract. Hopefully Ineos have a plan in place for next season.

We have two players for that position; Casemiro and Ugarte. Case with one leg is better than Ugarte. So, we need two new dmc. If we will buy two then sure, Case can go. But, if we are buying only one then Ugarte is the one who must go.

The frustrating is I think he'd be great in a midfield 3 given his current fitness levels. Would help Bruno too, allow room for Mainoo or Ugarte to do better, and means we can have a bit more flexibility with who we go for as our next midfielder.

Finding someone who can be the <hour mark Case into next season will be a challenge

1 game a week is perfect for him.

The current version isn't his best, but I would still argue that if you played Casemiro + Bruno for 38 games the points tally would be higher than any alternative in the squad.

*Without drastic formation/tactic changes.

Based on the latest reporting the plan is to offer him an extension. I don't entirely hate it if it is on a lower salary and is in addition to another signing so that he can play limited games and just pass on his wisdom to a younger player but if they think extending him allows them to kick the can down the road we could be in for a world of hurt, especially if we do manage to get into some variety of European competition.

It would be utter madness to over him a new contract.

He's 33. His legs have long gone.

He's serving a purpose at the moment, but he cannot be relied upon in CM in the premier league even as a bit part player for us if we want to genuinely progress and improve this squad.

We basically bypass CM at the moment due to being weak in that area. Bruno and CM are a terrible combo, but they're doing what they can in fairness to them.

If we had genuine capable midfielders, it would enable us to play via the midfield offering us more control.

We need to learn when to cut loose for the better, Casemiro has been a good pro here and tried his best but that shouldn't mean he gets an extension. Best for all parties if he moves on

He's our best CM by a mile currently. It always looks like there's a gaping hole in the midfield as soon as he goes off. We are going to be in real trouble if he's injured or suspended at some point.

I want both gone and replaced.

Surprised we didn’t lose when he got taken off. Surprising how intelligently he covers space on the pitch given he is the slowest player on the field.
