Was really good today and used the ball well. Once he made that tackle you could see the tank was empty

Not sure what people are talking about. It has been a good game from us and the result is undoubtedly terrific but does anybody want us to play the way we did today all the time? Obviously he can still offer something, obviously he has his uses but whats the point in trying to taylor our games towards such flawed players who are anything than the future. Casemiro had a good game today, kudos to him, but lets face it, we scored one before Liverpool was really awake and we scored from something akin to a set piece. We didn't have a hold of the midfield at all.
I agree. Though I'd be a little cautious putting changes in the game all to one player. I mean, it wasn't just us who switched players, Liverpool pushed more, changed personal as well. So who knows whether it wouldn't have looked exactly the same with Casemiro on the pitch. For the way we defended for most of the game, I guess, the other options would have looked a little more solid than they do usually as well. I don't want to take anything away from him, the players determination is fantastic and he certainly looks like a model pro.Yeah he’s doing a job to the best of his ability, our midfield is a bit of a make do and has a very low bar. We could upgrade massively on both him and Bruno but it’s the best we’ve got.
Glad he was taken straight off after getting booked but there is a noticeable drop off after he was taken off.
He reminds me of a little kid at a birthday party. Having the time of his life for an hour, and then suddenly runs out of steam and gets tired, and wants to go home. In the process of doing that, he starts doing things, like kicking the other children or running into furniture.
He's our best for that position and we look worse without him.

Which is a suprising aspect of him, as I thought he was just a simple passer in Madrid (having not watched much of them). But some times in previous seasons especially, he gives the ball away too much in trying those things, feels like he has the licence to try more passes and express himself at United. One of my favourite things is how he always looks for the first time ball over the top for the runner in behind. He never dwells on the ball.
I think you have to consider that in an all-time midfield with one of the best passers to ever play and another who is a lot more adept alongside him, Casemiro had the common sense to defer to superior users of the ball and focus on his own specialist aspects.Which is a suprising aspect of him, as I thought he was just a simple passer in Madrid (having not watched much of them). We need to figure out how to cope without him in midfield in this system. Noticable dropoff
Ugarte was basically on the touchline at this point.Casemiro doing an silly tackle for a yellow is almost like a hidden message to Amorim to replace him, or he's going to get a red card in the next 5mins
I think he took the yellow because he knew he was coming off. It was clever.Good performance, but thank goodness he was subbed as soon as he got a yellow.
Agree about Ugarte, even turned with the ball in midfield at one point. He was good while he was on, also weird no one mentioned that he got a "professional yellow" because Dalot is useless with the ball at his feet. That attempt for a cross, if you can even call that, from Dalot almost cost us a dangerous counter against and could've ended up with us conceding if not for Casemiro just taking down Salad.
Also might be in the minority here, but thought Ugarte was pretty decent after coming on, even keeping the ball well in tight spaces when needed.

Yeah agree. People would complain due to it looking negative but of the midfielders we have, always felt Ugarte next to Casemiro should provide the best balance on the pitch as well. Hold down the middle then you can be more attacking out wide.He was good while he was on, also weird no one mentioned that he got a "professional yellow" because Dalot is useless with the ball at his feet. I really think we shouldn't keep him after this season, we must move on from him, obviously we must sign a high quality DM to replace him but we must move on from him come summer. He gets a lot of stick but game after game he is doing very good job. I would keep him (for lower salary) of course.
We have two players for that position; Casemiro and Ugarte. Case with one leg is better than Ugarte. So, we need two new dmc. If we will buy two then sure, Case can go. But, if we are buying only one then Ugarte is the one who must go.I really think we shouldn't keep him after this season, we must move on from him, obviously we must sign a high quality DM to replace him but we must move on from him come summer.
Based on the latest reporting the plan is to offer him an extension. I don't entirely hate it if it is on a lower salary and is in addition to another signing so that he can play limited games and just pass on his wisdom to a younger player but if they think extending him allows them to kick the can down the road we could be in for a world of hurt, especially if we do manage to get into some variety of European competition. It’s worrying how poor our midfield looks when he is not playing, especially when he is in his last year of his contract. Hopefully Ineos have a plan in place for next season.
