There's a reason why this guy had the career he had. There's a reason why he was at Real Madrid as a starter for so long, he's on his last legs yet you can still see how important he is. He's the one who organizes our game, without him we look 5 times worse. He's our smartest midfielder too bad he's old now because in his prime he's easily a 80-90m midfielder. The brain is still there but the legs can't keep up anymore.

Controlled the game, made a good assist, scored. What else to ask? We lost two levels when he got subbed

I genuinely hope we’re watching how vital Casemiro is to our team, and we target a player like him in the summer. Casemiro can pass, tackle adequately and read the game. Someone look Baleba or what we bought in Ugarte who can just run around is going to set us back again. Find the next Casemiro!!!

True and we saw that at Brentford. One good thing about not having European football this season is him being fresh for every game.

It's crazy how vulnerable we are as soon as he comes off.

As soon as he goes off we look nervy and like an open road in the middle of the park. His quality is clear to see.

The bad thing is that next summer we will need two cms. I doubt he can perform like this in 12 or 16 months.

Our structure and midfield suffers badly wheb he’s bot playing. Moreover, and I’ve banged this drum a few times, we simoly play much better football with him than without. He’s a bloody good footballer. Great passing, timing, even playmaking. Wish he was a fair bit younger, but still very good as long as he doesn’t have to play a one man midfield in a team with ridiculous distances.

Really impressive turnaround for him, one of our key players given the drop off in quality if he doesn't play.

What a player and also what a comeback because he proves lot of people wrong about his leg being completely gone. Last season, there were period of times when Amorim didn’t even play him and chose to play Ugarte instead but he fought his way back to Amorim’s starting XI and now became an important player for us this season. He sets a great example to everybody that he can change the manager’s mind.

Back to his best, keep him fit and sub him after the first yellow and he should be good to go.

This is like season 1 Casemiro we're seeing lately. OK, his legs and pace has gone, but he reads the game so well.

We look a lot worse when he's not on the pitch which is a bit worrying when you consider he's probably out the door at the end of the season.

I think like Maguire he’ll be remembered very fondly when he leaves us; he’s had some bad moments with us but I think it’s undeniable to say he’s not absolutely given it his all while here and popped up with so many important goals for us

Looks like has can only last 70 minutes which isn't bad at 33 and Ugarte to finish off games. Could be a lot worse off but definely need a younger midfielder to take the reigns, obviosuly Ugarte ain't good enough. I love Casemeiros distribution and reading of the game.

People have been at pains to write off Casemiro at every opportunity since he arrived but he’s often proved them wrong. A champion like him never gives up.

His intangibles are on a different level.

There’s no reason he shouldn’t be a consistent defensive liability.
There’s no reason he should still be able to pop up with key goals.
There’s no reason he should still have the ability to sniff out danger.

These things will be hard to replace. At the same time, I dream of the evolution of this team that comes with having mobile central midfielders with above average technique, athleticism and game smarts.

He's been decent to great for a long while now, was certainly one of our better players in the second half of last season.

As I've said before Ten hag's masochistic tactics has done a number on his reputation on this forum, no player whether it be prime casemiro himself or whichever all time great midfielder of the years gone by one might choose would look good in that system, none.

Decent today. He's been decent all season in fairness. Funny, he's looking a new contract and he's somewhat half decent. Our highest paid player still hasn't played 90 mins all season. Good on him.

The idea that we can just spend money on some young dm and replace him easily because he is no longer at his prime is very simple, he's that good even at this stage in his career. I'll say keep him around sell Ugarte and then go into the market. Why get rid of the class and experience that is Casemiro.

The sad thing is, other than get a decent tackle in, Ugarte offers nothing else when has the ball.

He's like he's scared stiff when he has it. Not sure how he's managed to play for PSG at any point as he's not great.

Casemiro has stepped up this season. But needs replacing in 1-2 years. I think he’s benefitting from our lack of European games, cup games as he has more time to recover. However mainoo, Ugarte looks a pale shadow and our midfield collapsed without Casemiro.

Hi contract is up in the summer anyway and getting 350k of the wage bill will be key. Pick your favourite from Baleba, Wharton, Anderson - at least one of them will be here by next July.

The problem is, none of them have Casemiro’s know how and pitch mastery. I am happy for any of them to come, but what we miss out on most when Casemiro goes is that intuitive understanding of what to do at all times. Even the cards he takes aren’t by accident most of the time.

We really need some experience and know how in midfield alongside hopefully 2 from 3 with those you’ve listed. The wise hand that just knows what to do is absolutely invaluable.

I'd happily give him a one year extension on a reduced wage

Playing once a week obviously helps but he's still quality. Deserves a big apology from Ten Hag for making him look finished.

He'll get ginormous wages of he goes to Saudi but here's hoping he'd prefer staying another year on more modest wages.

I read somewhere that we've conceded 3 goals with him on the pitch and 13 without him on the pitch.

One game a week plus routine subs in mid second half is paying off massively. Shame the replacement is normally Manuel Ugarte.

Weird that over the course of just a few years he went from immense, to absolute dogshit, to back to being an important player again

He isnt worth paying three billion quid a week, but have a lot of respect for him fighting back from what had to be an all time low

Agree to what everything has been said about him…. Add to that, he’s a destructive header of the ball, at both ends of the pitch. Makes him an asset in both the boxes
