Never thought I would say this - but with the way he is playing, we should considering offering him a new 12 month contract. This one is insane:

Arsenal scored after a set-piece with Casemiro on the pitch
Fulham scored after Casemiro had left the pitch
Burnley scored twice with Casemiro on the pitch
Grimsby scored twice with Casemiro not playing
City scored 3 goals with Casemiro not playing
Chelsea scored after Casemiro was sent off
Brentford scored 3 goals with Casemiro not playing
Sunderland didnt score
Liverpool scored a goal after Casemiro had left the pitch
Brighton scored twice after Casemiro had left the pitch

So - 3 goals against with Casemiro on the pitch (1 goal from open play, one from a corner and one from a long throw-in)
5 goals against after Casemiro had been subbed
8 goals against with Casemiro not playing...

We fall apart defensively when Casemiro isn't on the pitch
Thats the tricky thing with stats and data. It doesn't take much to tell a good story - 3 goals against with him on the pitch, 8 goals against without him.

Of course, this could very well also be connected with the opponent increasing the pressure in the end, pushing for something but what kind of story would that be.

I think, Casemiro and Bruno did a good job in midfield yesterday. But at the same time, the game showed what kind of abilities we could add to the team. Anderson was very engaged, very visible, was influential going forward, influencial against the ball, eager to take on players and dribble into crowds in tight areas.
The debate shouldn't be as shallow as "Is Anderson better than Casemiro or Bruno" - the discussion should be what kind of abilities do players bring to the table and how does the team benefit from it.

Would be even better with a more dynamic, quicker player next to him. Would love to see that more with Bruno pushed back up, or have a midfield 3

Agreed. Casemiro has been fantastic, but he and the squad as a whole would be so much more effective in the PL if we went 433 rather than 343 with the players that we have right now.

Tottenham 2:2 Man Utd
He wasn't very good and was easily bypassed by the Spurs midfield.

Genuinely think we win if he stays on the pitch

We need a midfielder to share his load in Jan

That stat where we've conceded however many times more goals when he's off the pitch seems to go up every week.

We can't defend at all without him.

We just turn to shit when he goes off. Need a proper replacement for him in January

I’m not his biggest fan but he is the only midfielder we have that seems to be an,ex to play his position and understand it.

I'll disagree there, Spurs did bugger all whilst he was on the pitch
They were far more dominant and created two very good chances before he was subbed. They didn't do anything else afterwards till their first goal in the 84th minute.

Yep, Spurs were mostly kept quiet with him on. The problem started with our poor passing. Maz was poor, so were Bruno and Cunha when they held the ball too long.
This was infuriating today, there’s no need for it, get it and either move forward with it or pass it on.

Poor touches, dwelling on the ball, lack of awareness in moments by Sesko, cunha and fernandes let spurs off the hook, a game we should have won, points dropped although getting the equaliser again was promising

Thr thing is it's not like you'd have an easy time finding a player of his profile never mind his quality or experience.

Yeah, being disappointed about not winning is better than pissed about losing and not having any fight in us at all.

Disappointed now but it’s a good sign.

Same thing week after week after week. When he gets subbed off, we fall apart.

It’s incredible really. Of course it typically also coincides with the other subs being made, and the energy levels being lower in general towards the end of the game. But it’s fairly obvious that the structure of the midfield is completely different when Casemiro is on the pitch.

The question is, are we better off playing with a gassed Casemiro than Ugarte?

I totally expected that we'd be under pressure in the first 15mins or so of the 2nd half. They're at home where they've quite poor in recent games and they were always going to have a burst of energy early on in the 2nd half. We weathered the storm quite well though and went back to controlling the game.

Gassed Casemiro with cramps is better than Ugarte.

Subbing him off makes us worse, so we might as well keep him on.

Bruno hits a wall at 60-70 minutes too but he always stays on. A more logical substitution might be Ugarte for Bruno at 60/70 and leave Cas on, but we know that's never going to happen.

Does he need to be sub off every match after 60 mins. We sort of crumble everytime without him. Surely he’s fitter now to last 90mins

Would be nice that instead of subbing Casemiro off, Amorim keeps him on and brings on another midfielder, even if it is Ugarte. That might too wild of a formation change for Amorim though.

A past it Cas is still levels above Ugarte, we desperately need 2 quality midfield signings

Worth trying in games that are not already decided (which we basically never do).

But the midfield desperately needs investment. Crazy situation currently.
All reports say that we are going for midfielder in January. Lets just hope that it will be proven mid who goes straight in first 11 (instead a player who "needs time" to adapt).

Start ugarte and sub him at 20mins before the opposition get going. Give case the last 70

Brazil play a more controlled and considered game than us and he has more support in midfield, and it’s also not the 100mph of the PL.
If he had a more controlled partner in the midfield then he probably wouldn't burn out so fast.

They didn't create much before Casemiro was subbed but I don't think that was due to him being such a rock but more the way we set up and how anxious Spurs started when it came to passing inbetween our lines. Looking at the game I don't think the game would have went too differently with him on the pitch - Spurs were increasing the pressure and a goal against felt in the air for a while. Even when Casemiro still was on.

I mean the bloke who came on for Casemiro was crap for both their goals...

I know it is easy money these days to shit on Ugarte but I don't think, thats fair. In the first goal against he is pushing the dribbler away from the centre and from the goal, lets not act as if Casemiro would have looked better against a run like that. And even if, the situation was gone, the ball into the penalty area wasn't dealt with well but thats not on Ugarte. And with the 2nd goal against he is battling for the header and the follow through pushes him goalwards. Not like he slept there he just couldn't do anything about it.

Each to their own, I think the conclusion that we start to suck only when Casemiro leaves the pitch is very wrong. The Brazilian is doing well but he isn't the one holding the team together. Us conceding late is probably just as much down to the opponent ramping up the pressure as it is connected with having Casemiro on the pitch.

That's a very generous reading of both incidents, the first the guy waltz's past him like he's not there, Case either tackles him or fouls him... He's definitely not beaten that easily. Then he doesn't get in a great position defensively to cut out the cross. Typical of his poor awareness/positioning.

The second, I mean that's just weak isn't it? Why is he the only one that's fallen so far back? He's not the only player battling in the box... If you watch it back, he's barely even pushed that aggressively... He's just competing normally in the air. Again Case is so strong in the air, there's no way he's pushed back like that and thus allows Rich Arlison to be onside.

It might be very generous, there is always a bit of subjectiveness I guess. I'd say had Ugarte fouled there or would he have been drawn towards the ball leaving his space in the centre he would have been criticized as well.

Ugarte goes for the header i.e. preventing the attacking header. No player would have been able to stop that forward thrust. The issue is that 3 Spurs players are camped on the edge of the box having enough time to line up a shot that then accidentally hits Richarlison. Putting that on Ugarte seems really harsh to me.

Our midfield disolved when he was subbed off.

He is so immobile that his current move when a player is running at him is to feint a body check to try and make the player dive, as he knows he can't rack up yellows. It's ridiculous.
