He’s physically slowing down and his brain is too, looks done as a top player.

Has had a really good season but poor today. Let's not write him off as he's basically held it together in there all season.

Also let's remind ourselves that he's started every game over this busy period. We know what he is, and we know that he needs rest between games. It's worked this season as we've had no midweek until the last few weeks. A loss of form coinciding with that isn't exactly surprising.

He was horrendous and a major reason why we didn't win. Needs replacing really badly.

How can someone who made his career as a DMF for Real Madrid be so bad at tracking runners?

He's almost 34, his agility is gone. He can still pull off the odd impressive game here and there but playing every week in the PL at a very high pace is a standard that's starting to get away from him. Players decline at different rates and in Casemiro's case it's quite obvious that he should be playing in a retirement league in a year or two.

It's so frustrating that pretty much every team we play against has at least one good physical mid fielder but we have not had one at United for ages. You can't succeed as a team if your spine is old and soft.

How can we be in a position where he starts every single game. It's not even fair on him.

Get that, but he's actually still decent tackling. It's the lapses in concentration where he just ignores runners off him that I find really disappointing, and it's been happening for a few seasons

So Ugarte gets praised (no idea why) and Casemiro gets criticized despite both of them having similar stats.

They were either both shite or both were average so which is it.

Legs are clearly gone.

Midfield needs to be sorted, Ugarte was decent but he's not good enough either. They both need replacing.

Did a very passable impression of a training cone tonight, I lost count of the amount of times he was dribbled past.

He's either checked out of the season already and is saving himself for the World Cup, or this time he really has fallen off the cliff for good.

If we don't seriously upgrade in midfield in January, we can forget about top 4, possibly even top 6.

This guy is absolutely killing us. The odd header or decent pass doesn’t come close to making up for the harm he does. He clearly doesn’t have the legs at this point, which is the primary issue, but at times his football IQ seems non-existent as well. He’s had a magnificent career, but if he starts in our midfield for the rest of the season we’ll finish in the bottom half of the table.

He is past it. Fecking crazy that he is still our midfield general, invest in some midfielders Ineos you useless cnuts.

What I'd give to have players like Matic and Herrera back, never mind Carrick and Scholes. Heck Fred was better than most of our current options.

Needs to leave and properly replaced. Hard to believe United plays a past it midfielder next to the most limited

Man Utd 1:2 Brighton New
Can't understand why he wasn't brought on earlier in today's game, his progressive passing is on another level to the vast majority of the side.

It’s a funny one with Cas because he’s clearly by FAR our best midfielder still and we always look a far worse side when he’s not on the pitch.
Absolutely shocking we haven’t bought at least one top midfielder to play alongside him the past 3 years.

The thing is he's not great but he is the best we've got is depressing. His ability to be physical and run is not good enough but you can still see he's got an element of his old quality in there which gets him through.

The fact we've not signed a midfielder is borderline unforgivable. We definitely aren't signing anyone in January with no manager and a ten million payout to Amorim, we've got no chance of Europe or domestic success, true mess.

It's sad because in a season where we are playing 40 games , our lowest since 1914-15, our highest paid player and best central midfielder can't play more than 1 game a week. He was rested for this game because he couldn't move in previous game. Not an indictment on him, more so on the board for the contract they give him and for completely ignoring the fact that we've needed energy and a physical aspect in that area for years. The fact they made a late play in the previous window for Baleba proves they were aware of it but still haven't rectified it, yet made a play for Semenyo in this window. I do have some sympathy for Casemiro, I think a Baleba or similar type would have benefitted his game exponentially. Hard to see us fixing that issue in this window, as any top player would be hesitant about joining a club, where next season, they aren't aware of who the manager will be.

I think Cas would’ve been an excellent three year signing for us had we replaced Eriksen with top quality after that really promising first season.
The fact we still haven’t replaced Eriksen and now almost certainly have to replace Cas in the Summer is so fecking stupid.

It's a shame his legs have gone and he tires easy now because you can clearly see that when he isn't asked to cover every blade of grass he still has what makes him quality

Really think he should stay for at least another season.
His level would have to fall off a cliff for him not to be an asset next year as well. The only question mark is whether he is willing to extend on a reasonable wage.

Still a super good midfielder.

Class - his passing (long and short) remains a little underrated I think. Shame his legs aren't what they were but he is still so important for us.
