He’s physically slowing down and his brain is too, looks done as a top player.
He's almost 34, his agility is gone. He can still pull off the odd impressive game here and there but playing every week in the PL at a very high pace is a standard that's starting to get away from him. Players decline at different rates and in Casemiro's case it's quite obvious that he should be playing in a retirement league in a year or two.How can someone who made his career as a DMF for Real Madrid be so bad at tracking runners?
Get that, but he's actually still decent tackling. It's the lapses in concentration where he just ignores runners off him that I find really disappointing, and it's been happening for a few seasonsHe's almost 34, his agility is gone. So is he"I'm tired boss."
It’s a funny one with Cas because he’s clearly by FAR our best midfielder still and we always look a far worse side when he’s not on the pitch. Can't understand why he wasn't brought on earlier in today's game, his progressive passing is on another level to the vast majority of the side.
It's sad because in a season where we are playing 40 games , our lowest since 1914-15, our highest paid player and best central midfielder can't play more than 1 game a week. He was rested for this game because he couldn't move in previous game. Not an indictment on him, more so on the board for the contract they give him and for completely ignoring the fact that we've needed energy and a physical aspect in that area for years. The fact they made a late play in the previous window for Baleba proves they were aware of it but still haven't rectified it, yet made a play for Semenyo in this window. I do have some sympathy for Casemiro, I think a Baleba or similar type would have benefitted his game exponentially. Hard to see us fixing that issue in this window, as any top player would be hesitant about joining a club, where next season, they aren't aware of who the manager will be.
His level would have to fall off a cliff for him not to be an asset next year as well. The only question mark is whether he is willing to extend on a reasonable wage.Really think he should stay for at least another season.
