Capology says the same. Sounds awfully low...

Has Casemiro at 182

Hazard 521
Bale 521
Marcelo 406
Kroos 406
Benzema 400
Alaba 375
Modric 364
Courtois 250

Fecking Lucas Vasquez on 156...

Could this be true? And why the feck did we increase it by 95% to 350 that he would be on if we had CL?!

Surley that’s obvious?

Not sure the rain was gonna convince him to leave his 5 time CL club.

What about the new challenge?

I can see why we would increase his salary. But doubling it seems pretty excessive. Wasn't even aware of that, think that makes the transfer even more shortsighted.

apparently has a clause in his contract if he starts 35 games for us, he can activate a 1 yr extension. Not sure if that's just paper talk, or even how many games he's started this season. Is there a scenario where he can actually start that many games, I know we've our lowest total in over a hundred years. Be interesting the club's stance if he were about to start his 35th game. I can't see them allowing that, we know their stance on our top earners.

He has to start every remaining game for the clause to be triggered. They’ll make sure to start him on the bench for one game.

He’s great but he makes too much money and if CL is on next season it would hike his wages back to 350 pr. week. Not sure how much he’d get for EL but more than he’s on now.

I thought ETH chaos ball with this 4.........1.......... 5 system had ruined him but he has turned it around this season. Been one of our better players this season
It robbed him and us of precious time and development and we've suffered the consequences of it ever since.

People don't seem to understand what kind of beacon of hope these living legends can be for the club that signs them, and as such, we've extracted about 40% of what we should've out of him due to dire managerial hires and appalling planning. Guy should've been fine tuning his successor and passing his infinite knowledge and know-how on to the next generation of midfielders at the club this entire time, and you're supposed to buy a player like this to optimise him and his game, which means other pieces in the midfield are perfectly aligned with his game and cater to his strengths and weaknesses. We did none of that and wasted the opportunity to advance the midfield unit on by literal years by bumbling and fumbling everything to do with handling his time here.

It's a bugbear because these greats are like shooting stars and come along extremely infrequently and we seemed to have just dropped him into the chaos like he's a generic member of the squad when we should've been squeezing every ounce of his wisdom out of him and thus making him well worth the outlay.

There was no reason for us to have that massive drop from him after his amazing debut portion of the first season next to Eriksen.

Lots of examples of clubs not playing players due to clauses. Harvey Elliott for example this season is a particularly bad scenario for the player.

Am surprised such a clause exists and it’s not a simple option that the club can decide to trigger or not.

He had offers from Saudi, apparently same wages, but decided to stick with Man United.

Ten Hag almost ruined him. Even at his Real day, he never had so much space to cover. But he's a great player with someone at his side, to help him defensively.

PS: I am Brazilian (long time Man United fan, since Fergie days) and my English isn't that good.

I'm well aware of said clauses, just baffled me that we'd give that to a player coming to us at his age, who was already receiving a massive pay increase to come to us anyway. I highly doubt the board would allow a scenario where they would allow him to be in a position to trigger that.If they did want him to stay, they would just renegotiate a new 1 yr contract at a much lower wage. The problem with that is, he's not a player you can bring in for a league cup game or weak European tie next season and let other players rest, as he can't do 90 mins himself. Even if he took a 50% pay cut, he's a still on a big wage, he'd still be getting more than Mbuemo for example. He's 35 next season, this will be his final world cup this year, he may be happy to retire or take one more big wage in Saudi or Mls.

He himself might have wanted it announced as effectively he's looking for work now so won't all be on the club. I'm sure it would have been an agreement.

The video description was a lot more informative than the video. It was the right choice, the timing makes me think maybe its because we'll have another video from Maguire later on

Question is what constitutes "daft wages".

Even if we halfed his current wages, he'd still be our 5th highest paid player. Which is is a big contract offer to hand someone who will 34/35 years old next season, and who shouldn't be a starter.

So you're likely talking about a greater than 50% pay cut. And he'd also need to be willing to have his minutes substantially reduced, at least in the league.

You would think he'd have more attractive offers elsewhere.

Obviously now we know he's leaving and think you were right with this to be fair. Was on too high a wage to keep around as a squad player.

Hope you all are happy who thought he was old and slow. He's literally one of the greatest DMs to ever play and was literally seen as a great piece to the Kroos and Modric midfield. Will be difficult to replace him but ateast we have the rest of season with him.

Hate when we sign these strong type players, when they're hitting 30s.

We could really use someone like that for longer term team build.

I'll say it again - there is simply no one available in the market right now who could put that level of performance in United's midfield.

Some of his long-range passing was majestic. And of course he's a real fighter.

Such a shame his last two seasons at United will have been wasted under ETH and Amorim.

Rolling back the years there today, when he plays like that there's not many better who can do what he does.

So, so good today. Exactly the performance you want right after the announcement. The club have a very big job at hand signing the right midfielders this summer

I wish we would have given him one more year. The players we are linked with aren't on his level

We wasted one of the greatest defensive players of modern times under two shite coaches.

Kept things ticking over really well. These kind of games suit him. Didn’t even look all that knackered by the end of it.

I wasn't crying, it was just the rain!

Watching him celebrate with the away fans at full-time, was a nice moment.
