I think we'll really miss this guy and will regret letting him leave. We're putting a lot of pressure on ourselves to recruit well in midfield - he's been brilliant, today being just another example. I'll be sad to see him go.
 
How can you let one of the greatest defensive midfielders of all time go when he's playing well and you are short on midfield depth?! What are we doing here?

Maybe he just wants to go, like he wanted to leave Real. Can't force him to stay.

Totally true, What a wrong time to play for UTD under 2 immature coaches didnt k now how to use him.

One thing I like about Case is, he always given his best to UTD. I miss him for sure

His wages are not sustainable, sadly. Not sure wherever we’ve discussed the possibility of lowering his wages significantly and he refused or we’ve just decided to part ways but it’s a good decision strategically.

Even though after games like this it’s harder to believe in it, he was brilliant.

All in all a brilliant signing, much like when Chelsea bought Makelele, difference of course being they partnered him with Essien, Ballack, Lampard.
We gave Cas a partner for one season and he was superb, so we fecked off giving him a partner altogether and pissed 3 years away with some of the most bizarre tactics I’ve ever witnessed.

Definitely one of the biggest victims of the last two managers insanity. A testament to him that he’s still been comfortably one of our best players in that time regardless.
 
Anyone catch Casemiro saying "Enjoy the goal, enjoy the moment, smile!" to Dorgu after he scored the 2nd goal? Class act and poor Dorgu who was done wrong by his previous manager with dumb comments.

If the energy around the club changes, as it seems to be...perhaps we can entice him to stay for a couple of years on reduced terms. I would love to see him enjoy more success here than he has, especially after so many fans turned on him and Carragher's monologue.
 
Casemiro's been mega in the last couple of games. We'll have to work hard to find another midfielder who can match his contribution in the summer
 
He was excellent today. I think the experience, professionalism and influence he brings to the squad will be hard to replace.
 
Love Casemiro. During Dorgu's goal celebration, he came up to him and said "Enjoy the goal, enjoy the moment" loved that.
 
Pity we can't keep him on reduced wages for another year. Happily would let Ugarte go, get another midfielder in and have Casemiro for the big games.
 
He is massively important and I don't think there's one player who can replace everything he gives us.

He's a leader, great in the air in both boxes, protects the back four, positive passer and a huge physical presence.
 
Carrick is a genius getting this beast of a player playing 180min last two games. He is so good in this deep role it's crazy how badly he has been used.

Aye, He has an understanding and level of nous for the game that is pretty much unparalleled in our team.
 
Don't think either Anderson or this Wharton guy are good enough to step into his footorints (as of now). Neither Garner. We need someone top class to replace him.
 
Would like to say keep him for another year on a lesser contract but think it’s probably obvious he can still earn big money elsewhere so can’t blame him for taking up that option.

Agree about Wharton and Garner but I think Anderson has great potential. He’s similar to Casemiro in his ability with the long range passes and his ability to win the ball back. Kone at Roma would be a decent shout too. Beyond that can’t think of many realistic buys who’d step in and be better than Case.
 
We are going to miss him big time.

He’s form dipped when he wasn’t helped by team selections etc. but a classy classy player a born winner and very likeable. I would have even kept Fred just for him to do his running.

Did he not have the option of another on the end of his contract like most other players do or was this season it?

Pity he won’t take lesser money if was offered but can’t blame him maybe looking to go Saudi for a final payday for the family or back to Brazil in his last contract.
 
He was great again. Sad to see him go!

Léo Ortiz and Danilo Barbosa got some of his qualities. Both not so young and still not on the same level of Case.

But they'd be cheaper than other bigger names on the market and would do well.

He was the wrong signing but feck me what a good player he is. Hard as nails too. I don't understand why the hell we didn't have a young highly rated cm/dm deputise and learn from him over the last few years. No real succession planning is the reason we keep getting stuck. I have no idea who we are going to sign who is going to be able to give us even close to what Case currently does but he'll have to be some player!
 
I really do think I'll miss him when he goes. Despite what everyone said, he and Varane never came for paycheques (well they might have) but the performances never felt like it. Have Madrid got any other super stars they fancy getting rid of?
 
Seen his match comp.

What a player, what a man! He really stood up to be counted that second half and imposed himself on the game, which in turn meant we were more on the front foot and less timid with it. Great player and great pro.

My fave.
 
The DNA of this club is just different. You can tell how much he loves the club after everything he’s achieved. It was similar with Varane and Schweinsteiger all played during barren spells for the club and still absolutely adored it here.
 
Even though he is far from his prime, a veteran Casemiro is still more solid than 90% of younger market options.
In a 3 man midfield his lack of speed will not be as problematic.
 
Feck man, such a monster on his day. Sad to see him go knowing he has these performances in his locker (when the team is set up by a coach with half a brain).
 
Replacing him this summer will be our biggest headache. Our midfield is already lacking in quality and depth as is and now we’ll lose him too.

I think we will regret the decision and I don’t have any confidence in our recruitment team to properly replace him. I hoped we could find a solution to make him stay for 1-2 more years but we’re too concerned about his wages rather than performances on the pitch. And those performances showed he’s far from finished. He was still running trying to chase the ball on 80+ minutes. Great professional and a classy guy.
