Absolute class, he has improved his fitness no end this season, his reading of the game is unsurpassed and seems to always be in the right place at the right time.

It's crazy just how stupid professional football managers such as Eth and Rubin could be with their tactics and not see the bloody obvious.

We effectively wasted 2 years of Casimero. Such a shame

Why call someone stupid, after two games when we set up to counter, after the managerial reset, sounds liek a kneejerk to me. We cant play like this the whole season and if we want to eventually progress. We have seen how it went under Ole. 5 games purple patch and then something good something bad, lacking consistency..

Lower block is hardly a football we can play to be able to dominate once again. Higher line or playing twice per week is not for Casemiro . He will be missed though.

Replacing him this summer will be our biggest headache. Our midfield is already lacking in quality and depth as is and now we’ll lose him too.

I think we will regret the decision and I don’t have any confidence in our recruitment team to properly replace him. I hoped we could find a solution to make him stay for 1-2 more years but we’re too concerned about his wages rather than performances on the pitch. And those performances showed he’s far from finished. He was still running trying to chase the ball on 80+ minutes. Great professional and a classy guy.

The guy is a 5 x Champions League winner, and was one of the main CM of best midfielder trio rivaling Xavi - Iniesta - Busquets.

Of course replacing him with similar quality will be a big headache. Real Madrid is still struggling to replace him. We just need to accept that whoever coming in will be a lesser quality or just need to look for a different profile.

We arent replacing Peak Casemiro and we should not be accepting whoever coming in Will be of lesser quality infact if we get our midfield purchases right this team should level up .

I suspect because ETH and Amorim used stupid tactics.

He was probably Amorim's most important player and was great for him. Ten Hag hung him out to dry.
He was decent for Amorim but that was in spite of Amorim's system and not because of it, in my opinion.

Edit: also, I was more responding to the 'why call someone stupid' question, not specifically relating to Casemiro, though get that wasn't clear as I'm in the Case thread!

Ah ok, sorry I thought it was a bit of both!

They will either be a similarish profile but lesser quality, or a different profile but lesser quality...

"we should not be accepting"... name some names then. Who can United bring in who will "level up" the midfield relative to Casemiro?

We are one injury to him from having a crisis in midfield. Its absolutely absurd we’re not getting anyone in this window. We’re 4th ffs, get someone in and have a real go at it.

I don't give a damn about the names but there certainly is a strange delusion regarding some of the players on here the way they are talked about make them seem more effective than they really are some irreplaceable players .

If we really bring the right profiles and right players for the midfield next season most would realise How much our midfield was holding us back .

Yep.

While Casemiro has been excellent this season, he still has limitations we have to work around. And younger player, while maybe not as good in some areas, may also not have those limitations.

For example, Amorim spoke about changing our pressing approach to accommodate Casemiro. Not asking him to press as high, relying on the wingbacks to press instead, and letting Casemiro sit back as an extra defender. And any other manager will face similar restrictions in how they set the team up out of possession with Casemiro in it, which will not be the case with all alternatives.

Also, while he has strong qualities on the ball, there have always been midfielders who offer other qualities in possession that he doesn't.

"While Casemiro has been excellent this season, he still has limitations we have to work around." But thats exactly what we're doing and it turns out its really effective. We're really going to miss him, even if we bring in Baleba or Anderson or Wharton, or all three.

Needs to be extended while bringing in long term replacements. All time greats are very hard to replace for a good reason....it's extremely difficult to become one.....even if he lost a step he still has the quality for at least another year. He's shown it. Reduced wages

Best pure midfield performance I've seen in a long time, covered so much ground and made unbreakable in defense, a goal, a top assist, then he started spraying the ball like Scholsey. Just wow

Can he not pull a Jordan Belfort “I’m not fecking leaving?”

Goal and an assist with a no-look pass.

The team again looking more shaky as soon as he goes off.

A reminder, if it were needed, of my stated view that I don't think there's anyone in the market this summer who in the near-future could be even as good as Casemiro when he's available on the pitch, even considering CMs with slightly different profiles.

We arent replacing Peak Casemiro and we should not be accepting whoever coming in Will be of lesser quality infact if we get our midfield purchases right this team should level up .

You still think United's midfield will somehow "level up" with him gone in the summer?...

We're going to miss him, he's holding our midfield together by himself despite his legs being well past their best.

I don't think there's a midfielder in the world that we can realistically buy the offers what he does.

What a footballer

Casemiro in this form. You can see the difference when he's on and off the pitch.

Enjoy this farewell tour

Great performance… loved the no look pass, i remember Ronaldinho doing them all the time back in day.

The thing is, even this hasn’t really been a problem this season.

While our midfield is still not great, he hasn’t been exposed nearly as much as he was last season.

We need to keep him fit. The middle of the pitch falls apart when he's not there.

Midfield when he isnt on the pitch is a lot weaker. So much its worrying.

Will be important to get two in during the summer. MOTM again today Case

Great pass for the 2nd goal, great header for the first.

Another top performance.
