Surreal. Casemiro at the age of 31 is now playing at the same level as Keane at 31, and I think it’s safe to say that Keane was surrounded by much better players, and manager, then than Casemiro is now.
I remember Keane’s last full season at the club and it was actually very good from him, with some top performances away at Anfield and Highbury. Casemiro is way more of a goal threat though. Incredible the amount of headers he seems to score.

No coincidence that it’s been the same thing all season where we look a little more vulnerable when he comes off the pitch.

On that we agree, I just find it funny how you always cap his fitness on the 60th min. Like 10 more minutes or something is always the death of him

The margins at this level are so small though, all it takes is losing half a yard to fatigue and what would be winning the ball instead turns into the opposition through our midfield.

If we could protect him a bit more, with an athletic and positionally secure midfield partner and fullbacks who can invert, he'd be more effective later on in matches, like when we sit deep, but games like today he's expected to do way more high intensity running than he should be, and it takes a toll.

Honestly, I would prefer if we extended him for a year and sold Ugarte instead using whatever funds we get as part of the transfer kitty. Having Casemiro would also give new arrivals the time to get settled and up to speed. I'm assuming we're signing 2 new midfielders anyway cause god knows we need them.

Some talk of him having gotten a knock and that’s why he was taken off?

Bloody magnificent today. Really started to dictate the midfield.

I think he's fine, 1 game per week has clearly benefited him (and Shaw for instance). He had picked up a yellow card, the score was alright but Fulham were being problematic so I understand his sub today. It's just shocking how the downgrade is so evident with Ugarte

I think he's our best midfielder, by a mile, but the amount of running he needs to get through whenever we try to play more expansively is more than his legs can cope when compared to the opposition, who don't tire as quickly.

I think our fans still under appreciate how brilliant he is for us just because everyone still has flashbacks to that second ten Hag season and the crimes that were committed on our midfield.

I mean that performance today was as good as you’ll see from any DM in the world. And this is a past it Casemiro that can’t move like he could 3 years ago.

Absolute monster

He’s having a really good season. Been one of our best players this season.

Yeah, I don't think that's a Mad take at all Mike

That’s the best no look pass I’ve ever seen. It was an actual, proper no look pass too, not one of those swivel head away after hitting the pass Ronaldinho specials.

The worst thing is how we wasted the majority of his contract. We got a Rolls Royce and went dirt racing with it.

In this setup he’s excellent, we’ve got some real fighters in the spine of the team now. Title charge here we come.

In all seriousness, I think we should really reconsider keeping him because we're not going to be able to replace him. That doesn't mean we should aim to be as reliant on him next season as we are this season, but he's still too valuable to completely lose him. It's his intangibles too which are important (his attitude, leadership etc.)

Incredible player and probably my favourite of this current bunch. Apart from his performances, he brings passion and energy into the team. And is clearly a leader with tons of experience. Such a goal threat during set pieces too.

It will be impossible to replace him like for like. The drop off we seem to have after he goes off is really concerning.

Actually such an underrated passer when he's on it. Both long shifts of play and neat little through balls. He's got the full skillset as a midfielder, except mobility in his current state.

Seems like his teammates absolutely love him too. Definitely like a big brother for some of them.

We got him too late and maybe paid too much, but seen over his four years here, he has done his part to repay as much as possible. Model pro. Glad he's been able to lift a few trophies here.

Most players drop off once they know they leave. Not this guy
He didn't pack it up either when he left Real after winning another Champions league for a still in transition United side.

Been a genuine pleasure having a proper legend of the game play for and have a real impact for us like him. He's played with so much joy and fire since joining

MOTM. A Casemiro classic for his goal. And the cheek to pull of a pass like that for his assist. He really loves this club doesn't he?

Basically any time in the last 4 years we've played with a normal midfield/formation he's been great.

All around performance from him today. Breaking up play, a goal and an assist.

We absolutely need more legs in the midfield to progress but he's not going to be easy to replace either.

This. Give him a year's extension while we bring someone or two in for him to mentor.

You just cant teach experience.

Ten hag fed him to the wolves with his suicide ball

Him becoming Scholes was something I didnt know about. Wow. On top of everything else he does. He's just a bit vulnerable when there are spaces to cover in midfield, but he is essentially our midfield

It's good for him and us to go on a high, he is one of the GOAT's, so he doesn't deserve to go on a low. Let him leave while we remember him this way, jumping on Carricks back after a goal or a win.

Beautiful ❤️

Had to look up how it went for Amorim last season when he declared Casemiro didn’t have the characteristics for his system and started him in only 4 of his first 16 games

• Total games with Casemiro starting: 15
Record: 6 Wins, 3 Draws, 6 Losses (1.40 PPG)

• Total games without Casemiro starting: 12
Record: 1 Win, 3 Draws, 8 Losses (0.50 PPG)

If anyone needed anymore proof that Amorim was utterly clueless. Imagine if Casemiro had left us that January like Amorim and Jim wanted, relegation? Yup

This is the "darkest timeline" scenario. If Casemiro had been sold on January 1st, 2025, and Manchester United had continued at that abysmal 0.50 points per game (PPG) rate (the rate Amorim averaged in games without Casemiro starting), the club would have become close to its first-ever relegation from the Premier League.

The "No-Casemiro" Breakdown (2024–25 Season)

• Points on Jan 1, 2025: 21 points (from 19 games).

• Games Remaining: 19 games.

• Projected Points (at 0.50 PPG): ~9.5 points (let’s be generous and say 10 points).

• Hypothetical Final Total: 31 points.

The Hypothetical 2024–25 Final Table

In this scenario, United would have finished 17th.

We didn't... but your efforts are appreciated anyway!

He's really enjoying his football at the moment and the fans serenading him. Loved how Cara had to go back on his statement now, my God is he in some form at the moment.

Please keep this up uncle Case, take us home.

I can't believe we wasted his ability with absolute dross managers.

Another great performance from him. Seems to have struck up a bit of a bromance with Carrick, wonder if that has also played a part in the last 3 games, Carrick will know exactly how he needs to be managed at his age and position.
