When Bruno has to drop deep you know that uncle Cas is having a bad day at the office.

That said he should have been substituted at the start of the 2nd half.

Shown today why we need to move on in the summer.

Hopefully some good games to come, but noticing wrong in getting rid at the right time.

As much as we'll miss his aerial ability in both boxes, I do look forward to having a team of players in their prime who can actually run.

Midfield, left back and centre back are all in dire need of some pace and athleticism.

Woeful tonight. Hes good in the air but when he's not he's crap. Left all the defensive work tonight to his young inexperienced teammate.

I think it's a real positive that the club is not being emotional with him and giving him a new contract. He has been ok this season but it's the right time to move on.

Bournemouth correctly identified him as the target to pile the pressure on as he's the one who dictates our tempo.

This isn't a problem. He can't move fast enough when facing runners from deep areas. Villa didn't play that way, so he was not exposed. Bournemouth played exactly that way, so he struggled. Same against Newcastle.
Yep. We should have identified that and added more legs or cover to midfield.

He might still be a lion, but if the hyenas can isolate him, he doesn't stand a chance.

They did the same in the 4-4 game, switching the movement up for the second half and they were markedly better after half time in both games.

Whilst its great to have Casamiro knocking a few goals in at corners, he simply cannot compete in midfield with fast nimble players who run through him at will.
“One more year chant” was emotive and not based on logic. Casamiro is gassed and spent after 60 minutes in every game. No more year.

I think its pretty obvious that he does well in the home games where we have most of the ball and the opposition teams drop off a little and allow us more time on the ball. Whereas any match away where the other team is up on his ass, basically intensity is very high, he is just two second slow to everything. There is a reason why he was very good in Europe last season (more time and low intensity suits him perfectly), but you can not rely on a player who is only good in half the games, because in PL every other away match is a battle for us. I am glad for his time here but we need to move on from him. Hope the last few matches we can slug it out.

Hes been great recently up until last night. But its still the right thing to let him leave while hes doing well. His wages are enormous and he needs to be our best player every week to make it worthwhile, at 34 now is the right time for him to walk away with positive feelings for him

Hyenas will very rarely kill healthy adult male lions. They will harrass in very large numbers if they can isolate, but it takes 20 or so to kill a young male, and even then it's a dangerous game.

Casemiro unfortunately is far more susceptible to vertical play than a lion is to a pack of hyenas. He's more a cheetah than lion. :)

What about old, past their prime lions?

I know of no kills recorded in the wild on an elderly fit male which isn't sickly. Doesn't mean it's not happened though. Young adult male lions succumb [still very rare] due to a lack of experience, but the old past their prime lions generally have superior positioning, aggression and teammates (as well as enduring offensive weaponry), rendering them mostly immune to hyenas.

The lion is this video is about Casemiro's age (relatively, and very roughly obviously, but note the mane colour.)

I don't think he does his job in midfield most of the time. He's more interested in joining the attack and getting goals, which constantly leaves gaps for the opposite midfielders to exploit.

He's a great squad option and is still easily our best midfielder. The only problem really is the wages and the fact we will surely be as over reliant on him next season if he do stay. Saying that I'm nervous as I expect it to most likely be a painful transition away from Case. He's won us loads of points and scored goals others won't be able to

They're probably weighing up the cost of 150k reduced wage for a year, versus at least spending £50m on a replacement who probably also would take 120k up.

Could work, but it feels like he's working decently this last spell because we're playing so few games.
Would take a lot of managing next season where we'd need 2 new CM anyway

Parting ways this summer feels the smart move , with him able to leave with us remembering him positively. It wasn't that long ago people were desperate to get rid of the wage burden versus his on pitch form.

Just no, isn't good enough now and won't be any better next season. If the club wishes to progress, then they need to move on the players who have proven they not at the required standard. Dalot, Casemiro, Onana, Bayindir, Ugarte and Malacia, all should have no place in the squad next season.
Yes he can score the odd goal and is useful in either penalty area, but all other aspect of his game have seriously declined.

You’re obviously watching a different player. He’s been very good this season.

One more season with him as more of a squad player as well as him guiding whoever we bring in. Having his experience and knowledge in the dressing room is invaluable.

It only makes sense if he’s on seriously reduced wages. But if that’s agreed then it’s a no brainer for one more season.

Not at all, no idea where you get that from? He's one of the problems in the midfield. His positioning is good, but his legs are shot.
Caicedo has been very good this season and would be the ideal replacement and improve the team structure no end. That's the kind of player I want in the team, another season of Casemiro is going to be another season of inconsistent performances and issues with the team structure. He's never going to be dynamic and energetic, which is what is needed.

We have to move on. Any team with a lot of pace will cause him a lot of problems.
Just hope he's got enough in him to get through this season.

Hes still great. Only needs the right partner, a defensive midfielder what can run for him and go after the other team's faster players.

I also think Man United needs another formation, as a backup. Around a number 10 that can dictate the pace of the game. Can't rely on the same formations ever.

My head is telling me no.... but if he accepted a reduced wage to play as a squad option, getting 25-30 games over the season...it would be fantastic.

Give us another season ya shit. We'll need to replace his heading threat.

There is a hysteria around him leaving because of moments like that header but as a midfielder tonight he just wasn’t at the races and that’s why it’s right to move on. Scored a great header tonight but he’s been shite the last two games.

He was a big reason we were 2-0 down. Awful.

Couldnt make anything happen with his passing. Ugarte did most of the ball winning. However he scored 1 and almost had 2 headers with Calvert-Lewin clearing off the line. So not great but was our biggest goal threat

Was atrocious for 70mins then moved forward and looked more dangerous cause he didn’t need to worry about any defensive duties.

He’s always been better further forward for us.

Piss poor tonight despite being our best goal threat. Along with Yoro our worst player on the pitch in the first half.

Poor game, I thought his passing was too naive or slow paced (but more naive, since Leeds were set up extremely compact). Defensively, they were too fast/strong for him. Couple of times he just switched off, what is the biggest disappointment for such a senior player.

Plaudits for the goal but the rest of the game also showed why we need an upgrade to progress. Tonight was one of those games where it felt like he gave the ball away virtually every time he got it.
