I was in Amsterdam interrailing with my best mate when this game was on. Sheer madness. Extra sauce as a United fan because RVP was a United player and by then we knew LVG was going to be our manager too. In hindsight it feels like Blind was also already a United player but I don't think there was even much talk that we were about to sign him by then, although I could be misremembering.

(Very nearly managed to see the final in Berlin, too, but actually by then we were in Stockholm. But I'd put £10 on Germany to win that WC about 14 months beforehand, the only sports bet I've ever made, so all in all football was a very nice subplot to that trip!)
