United have completed the transfer of 22-year old versatile forward Celin Bizet from Tottenham. No official announcement yet but here she is in United gear travelling to Marbella with the squad.



Before joining Spurs two years ago she spent a season at PSG.

Bizet has scored seven goals in 21 caps for Norway. 23 goals in 45 games for their U16, U17, U19 and U23 combined.

I’ve watched Celin play for Norwegian team Vålerenga when she was just 18. She was the biggest talent in the Norwegian league then, fast and quite technical right wing mostly (not politically). She also debuted early for Norway, despite players like Caroline Graham Hansen, Ada Hegerberg and Guto Reiten crowding the positions so to speak.

I think the PSG move came a bit early for her, they have so many established stars and too few games to share amongst them, and maybe she stagnated a bit there. From my impression she has done well at Spurs but still has more in her locker than what she has shown there.
 
But I thought Ineos wasn't interested in the woman's team etc etc??

Not sure a forward who scored four goals and provided one assist last season is a significant signing. Happy to be proven wrong.

How many of her games have you seen?

They've basically used the same announcement post to announce a new arrival multiple times this summer - the player name on the side of a building. It's become a bit of a running joke with the women's team twitter fans. So the fans have been making "where's our wall" posts since the Celin rumours got louder.

So yes, it's one for the twitter regulars - they all knew what another (Norwegian) brick in the wall meant.
 
Whoscored has her mostly playing right wing so I think this is the Lucia Garcia replacement. Scored 4 goals last season same as Grace Clinton and obviously they will have had a relationship at Spurs so she will already have that coming to United

Looking forward to see how she does, she has looked good, from what i remember, for Norway.
Tough competition up front for Norway.
 
Skinner did not use the word "family" in his interview. I fear for Celin's minutes!
 
Perhaps our most consistent performer so far this season. Okay after PTJ! Anyway she looks like a good signing.

yeah, she looks great. Not perfect (who is?) but confident and quick. Has demonstrated good drive, has looked tired towards the end of some games this season, but she is young.
 
In terms of providing chances and assists she’s doing really well. If she could get more into goalscoring positions and score some goals I’d say she has almost replaced García. Different type of players I know, and luckily we’re getting goals from elsewhere at the moment. She was brilliant on one-on-one situations yesterday.

I agree with you about Bizet's performance yesterday and that she is a very different player to Garcia. Garcia created things and also got into the box with late, well-timed runs. Clinton seems to be doing that for us, with Bizet being more of a creator.

That said, I think we are a much more well-balanced team than last year.
 
A friend of mine in England told me that he just heard/saw on Sky Sports that although Bizet's injury hasn't yet been "assessed," she will probably be out for the remainder of the season. I don't understand how anyone can forecast a prognosis prior to an assessment, but I suppose it could be a matter of knowing that the issue is either X or Y, but it would be season-ending in either case.

Anyway, if this is true it seems to me that the consequences are somewhere between "terrible" and "catastrophic" for the team -- especially since we just lost Geyse and recently failed to acquire Chloe Kelly when she was available. Who's next on the depth chart? How would we respond to this if true?

I think she has 6 assists in the league, no one has more. With 8 goal involvements, she has replaced Lucia well and good IMO, and is an important part of why Terland is just behind Russo and Shaw in goals scored.

Terrible news if true. I'm guessing that Malard will slot in on the right? Or Awujo? Or push Riviere up and.play Mannion at right back?
 
Still nothing official from the club, so let's hope this was just idle speculation from a TV talking head who has no more information that we do. In retrospect I regret having posted about this since it appears I'm only helping to spread an unfounded rumor (or is that "rumour"?).

Maybe we'll find out tomorrow - assuming that's press conference day.

I think our main backup if it is a long-term injury will be Malard.

It would leave the subs bench looking thin. Maybe we can get Emma Watson back from her Everton loan. Mared Griffiths might get some playing time as well. In terms of experienced forwards - we've got Rachel Williams. Not a winger but pretty flexible. Formation juggling certainly gets trickier though.

Ha! It's rheuma! Fingers crossed that it is just some wannabe hack spouting nonsense. That said, it was a shocking foul by Danielle Turner and Skinner was right to be incensed that it wasn't a red card. I like the fact that his words were directed at the officials rather than the player.

Grace Clinton! She has the right skill set to play up front, no? Push her forward into that slot and make room for another midfielder. We were just talking in another thread about the embarrassment of riches we have in the midfield. Plus, we've seen that for whatever reason, the Toone-Clinton combination in midfield hasn't been as effective as we all probably expected, so maybe this would be a way to have them both on the field in a way that works better.

And no, I haven't been drinking....

I did consider Clinton as an option, although I think Malard is the best fit. Grace would certainly do a solid job there though, so it is by no means an outlandish suggestion. I think my suggestion of Rivière playing there has legs too. Or ... give it to Tooney. She wears No.7 so should fit right in!

Yeah, I suppose Malard is the most obvious option, and I'm all for having her and Teri on the field together rather than as alternates at the 9.

I'm not keen on moving Rivière up front, but only because she has been so damn good where she is.

The idea of playing Tooney anywhere but midfield seems borderline blasphemous, but I love it. She certainly knows how to get to the end line and find a target in the box. And as you said, she's already wearing the right number!
 
Playing Toone at 7 would give Grace her preferred position, and having Tooney and Rivière whipping crosses in, well, it would be like having two Beckhams. Jansson, Miyazawa and Clinton in midfield - you know it makes sense!

Edit: I hope Bizet is fit though.

I'm not so sure about the two-Beckhams thing :cool: but yeah, this does seem so crazy that it just might work! I'm not keen on the (borderline blasphemous) idea of moving Tooney out of her preferred position, but given her experience and football IQ she would probably be able to adapt to a new position more quickly and easily than Clinton.

That said, it's important to remember that we actually don't know yet whether there is a problem here that needs to be solved. Hopefully we'll learn more about Bizet's condition tomorrow, and of course we're all hoping that this is not, in fact, an actual problem that needs solving.
 
What a great signing Celin has turned out to be -- along with country-mate Elisabeth Terland. Long live the Norwegian Express!
 
Another player that will be up there for our player of the season, I've been really impressed with how she has slotted right in to the side.
