Anderson plays for Forest, yet is very clearly capable of unlocking defences with his passing.

I am starting to wonder this with the way he's been playing lately. But the key thing still is though to get him to sign that blasted new contract before he's shunted in to a rotation option. If United sign the 2 or 3 new CMs which they really need to this summer, but with Kobbie not yet having extended, then he might end up throwing his toys out the pram again at being on the bench sometimes and refuse to put pen to paper.
I don't think he'll act like this but if he does the I'll happily get rid.
Mazraoui finds himself on the bench, Dorgu does, Maguire does at times, Cunha, Mount, Sesko too. They just wait for their time and coming in ready to give their best.
We need to do same with our midfield next season. Mainoo should compete with two starting quality midfielders if he's the better player he'll play.

What we absolutely should not be doing is approaching the market with this ‘partner for Mainoo’ approach. Mainoo is a third midfielder for me, not the first one or two. Football matches pass him by too frequently, and he has great ability but doesn’t add enough in any phase of play for me.

As a de facto first XI regular - it would need to be in an orthodox midfield 3 without a traditional 10. As one of the deeper two with a 10, a squad/development option for me.
Definitely - we will have enough games for him next year in if we're in the CL , I think we have to create a squad with multiple permetations in midfield that work. They're not the same type of player, but it's the same thinking in the fool hardy pursuit of a singular player that would "unlock" Pogba. We need a platform for all players that can come in and out of the side and be able to show the best of their abilities. You can't do that by signing just one player.

Any papers linking us with Tchouameni or Camavinga?

I like Camavinga but he wouldn't be worth what it would cost to get him.

Tchouameni is class, but he's a starter for Madrid. No chance they'd sell.

Are Newcastle in a dicey place financially? If so I think Bruno G at a relatively discounted price could be a very intelligent buy. Similar to City buying Kovacic minus the injuries.

Get the feeling Real are going to go big in the summer and they keep getting linked with Rodri. Could look to sell one of their current options.

Agree they’d be after silly money.

#1 Anderson
#2 Joao Gomes
#3 Baleba

Anderson is gonna cost 100m so I don't think it's realistic to sign him + Tonali who Newcastle would want a similar fee for. I think it's one of them + another quality CM and Gomes just replaces so much of what Casemiro does except he's 10 years younger and much much more athletic.

Would need a significant drop in price for us to afford Anderson and Baleba, hope we are in for Gomes because could be a shrewd acquisition

I think Anderson, Garner and Gomes is a much better trio to target than Baleba myself personally.

I just feel like Baleba’s form this season is an abnormally. He’s still so young and what he showed in the previous seasons indicates there is huge potential upside to him if the price is right.

If we sell Ugarte, we will only have Mainoo in there. So we’d need three midfielders in, especially if we are playing in Europe next season.

With that in mind, I think the following options would help us a lot next season:

DM - Baleba (60m?)
Box to box - Joao Gomes (30m?)
Playmaker type - Tonali (70m?) or Alex Scott (30m?)

I don’t think we will get Anderson so I’ve left him out. Might be a huge outlay but we are in desperate need for midfield restructuring.

Really hope we dont plan on Mainoo being the starter, he is not there yet, we need two starters in the summer.

Worrying that we're still being linked with Agoume by serious outlets like The Athletic.

Sevilla (14th in La Liga) supporters aren't having him:

I hope he can be sold in the summer; I've run out of patience with him.
+1000 It seemed like it could turn into something worthwhile, but it's getting more and more tiresome to see him wandering around the countryside
It's hard to believe a young athlete can be so slow. And lacks so much passion, he just waddles around like a loser
I see him much more uncomfortable when he plays further forward because that requires being more dynamic and agile in tighter spaces, and in my opinion, that's more difficult for him because he's not a player suited to that. The problem is that if the game becomes full of transitions and turns into a frantic end-to-end affair, he also struggles because he's very slow; it's like he's running in flip-flops.
He was very comfortable playing at that casual pace the whole match. Missing easy passes, very inaccurate, and as always, useless defensively. I don't understand the Agoume and ten others thing because it's clear he falls asleep as soon as he knows he's a guaranteed starter, and if this player is a guaranteed starter, then we have a problem.
He's in terrible physical shape. He can't keep up with an opponent for even half a sprint, and he's a sieve on the counter-attack. Suazo's penalty came because Agoume wasn't able to track back.

Tbf I think others pointed out on the tweet, but Agoume isn't even mentioned in the article, this tweet seems to have just added his name in.

If United are continuing their data-led approach, then Agoume shouldn't and maybe won't be in the conversation. His stats are very average, and when watching him he looked very average. He seems at a similar level to Joao Gomes, in terms of someone who could maybe do a better job off the bench than Ugarte, but even then isn't really at the level of player United should be targeting and someone who there should be better options with more potential available than.

Isn't more likely that Utd will stick to their PL proven strategy for midfield reinforcements?

Depending on who goes down will have a domino effect...

I’m not disagreeing with you on stats, but what I would hope is that a club has far better data on players when analysing them, than Joe Public can get hold of.

That is true for sure. They should have lots of more informative data.

That being said, if there is some information/data somewhere which shows Agoume to be excellent at something, he's hiding it very well based on the various sources I still have access to.

So as I see it and please correct me if I am wrong, we only need Valverde and Vitinha to sort out our midfield. Easy enough!

Sell Ugarte for £50m and Malacia for £20m and then bring in Valverde for £30m and Vitinha for £40m.

Why would they discount him? Trying to understand the logic of selling a player cheap that they could otherwise get good money for

If they're in a financial bind and the player is 28 with two years left on his deal I have a hard time seeing how they can demand anything north of 100 million. By cheap I meant in the 70-80 million range,

Financially Newcastle are fine. It's more of a case that PL rules have tied their hands on spending as much as the owners wanted to.

No one is getting BrunoG for less than £100mil minimum.

That journo Moretto suggesting that Real would listen to offers of around €50m for Camavinga. That price would make me suspicious about the validity of this information.

Mikel Jauregizar is one that I keep being impressed with the more I watch of La Liga, I'm shocked nobody is picking up on him as he features so high on the eye test and every metric, so well rounded and already has experience.
