Imagine being that brainwashed as a football fan to drool for magical top 4 finish, just so your team cant be in specific part of groups due TV rights, what a joke competition.

What a crap group to be in. Worst draw to be honest.

At least we'll have some big matches incoming.

Tough group, but anything can happen. The others also have to play each other. PSG’s attack especially if Neymar and Mbappe are in form will probably be too much for us but we could still get something out of those games. In the other games we should be fine.

The "what's the point of being in the CL if you don't want to face the best teams" argument seems silly to me.

Of course we want to see ourselves pitted against the big teams. In the knockout stages, where the CL is many multiple times more fun and dramatic than the group stages.

Facing too many good teams too early and failing to reach that much better stage of the competition would be a huge letdown. The point isn't that we don't want big games, it's that we don't want to exit the competition before the properly big games start.

Because while facing PSG and Leipzig might be big in the sense that they could beat us, it's not particularly big in terms of interest and spectacle. Most of Europe's big teams are only getting warmed up in the group stages.
Not only that, it leaves us with zero room for rotation, we basically have to field our strongest eleven every game and that's going to be a big problem unless we sign more players before the window shuts.

Yeah La liga has a lot of teams that can go to City and beat them 5-2.
city aren’t anything close to what they used to be. The 8th best team in France beat city 3-1. So yeah, epl is on a downturn right Now. Champions league is a different beast.

Tough draw but what do you expect in pot 2 of the CL? We’re weirdly better against good attacking sides as they give us more space for our front three to exploit so it’s not the end of the world, albeit we’re unlucky to be drawn against last seasons finalists and semi finalists. Would think it’s between us and Leipzig for 2nd spot.

By the way, just look at the state of that draw for City and Chelsea again! I swear It feels like City get an easy CL group every season and I’m surprised Chelsea didn’t get Scunthorpe at home!! Liverpool’s group is harder than it looks but they’ll still qualify fine. Funny to see Midget Land back!

Look on the bright side, we are probably going to need that Europa League win to get into Champions League again next season. Forget top four, we can finish where we want now and just constantly win Europa League and then drop back into it each year, only need to win about 10 games a year if that, it's the perfect strategy.

I think we have a chance. Leipzig is not a powerhouse and are similar if not a step below us. PSG.....you just don't know what you will get form them. But the other opponents we should do well with.

I know there's an agenda against Liverpool but how are people calling their group the easiest group in history. Ajax champions league semi finalists in 17/18 and a minute from being a finalist and Atlanta knocked out by PSG in stoppage time only a couple of months ago in the Bfs. They were in pot 1 they should be drawing easier teams

Minimum 6 vs Basaksehir, 3 vs Leipzig and 1 vs PSG. 10 points and we should be fine. Harder than we wanted, especially considering Pool just got the easiest group in human history, but we should make it.

Anyway, easy group doesn’t always guarantee easy passage. We only got 10 points in 2008-09 when we were the second best team in the world against Villareal, Celtic and Aalborg.
????

Surely you mean City, no? Liverpool should qualify but Ajax and Atalanta are hardly pushovers.

That will still be subject to the restrictions of each Government. Ours have not allowed fans to attend matches. They already are at Leipzig and PSG. No away fans allowed. All this does is give us an unfair disadvantage.

Not sure why you guys are so concerned. PSG were the ones that crumbled against you, so that's not necessarily a guaranteed 6 points for them. Leipzig are good but not really any better than you are, and the Turkish side lose a lot with no or reduced fan support, so I see no reason why Man Utd can't get out of that group.

No, because City have regressed majorly while Pool are a top 3 team in the world alongside Bayern and PSG. They’ll steamroll a much weakened Ajax without VdB, Ziyech, De Jong, De Ligt, Dest etc, Midgetland goes without saying and attacking teams like Atalanta with few truly quality players are the teams they mop up (see Salzburg last season). Considering all the factors, this group is piss easy for them.

Don't understand the negativity.

PSG favourite to top it.
Us and Leipzig similar chance.
Istanbul last place.

Comes down to how we do against Leipzig. We have the team to qualify from this.
Having 50% chance of getting out of the group not that great so, People have right to moan. Chelsea for example have 90% chance of getting through.

I think I did some analysis around a decade ago and on average 10 points for you through 50% of the time. The fewer losses, the better (so 2 wins 4 draws is better than 3 wins 1 draw).

9 points rarely gets you through

Guess I just fundamentally disagree. Liverpool's group can hardly be the easiest in human history when City got an easier group from the same draw despite being in a worse position, can it?

Fans may not to be able to return to watch live sporting events in England until the end of March at the earliest.

At a meeting on Tuesday, sports governing bodies - including those from football, rugby, cricket, Formula 1 and horse racing - were told to prepare for no spectators throughout the winter.
Officials from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) told the meeting, which was attended by Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden, that the ban on fans will be kept under review.

Good news. Wonder when tickets will go on sale for ours?
There won't be any tickets for our home games.

UEFA allows fans, but only if it's not against the local laws.

UK government made it clear that there won't be a return of fans in 2020.

I wanted dortmund and leipzeg in our group. Mainly cause when Sancho and Upamencano have man of the match performances against us, the camera can pan to Woodward in the directors box. That would be priceless.
