Okay guys, let's move on from the Spurs game to something more exciting: The CL group stage draw.
As mentionned in the title, it's gonna be this Thursday at 5PM.

We are in POT 2, like last year. Remember that following last year's rule change, POT 1 contains only the champions of their league.

Here's the 4 Pots (Taken from Marca):

Pot 1 this year contains only big names. i think that we'll definitly end up with one of the biggest clubs in europe.

Personally, i would love to have this group:

Barcelona
United
Lyon
Inter Milan

So, what's your prefered group ?

PS: Please, please and please, keep the Jose talks outside this thread.

Full draw:

Group A
Atlético Madrid (ESP)
Borussia Dortmund (GER)
AS Monaco (FRA)
Club Brugge KV (BEL)

Group B
FC Barcelona (ESP)
Tottenham Hotspur (ENG)
PSV Eindhoven (NED)
Internazionale (ITA)

Group E
Bayern München (GER)
SL Benfica (POR)
AFC Ajax Amsterdam (NED)
AEK Athens (GRE)

Group F
Manchester City (ENG)
Shakhtar Donetsk (UKR)
Olympique Lyonnais (FRA)
TSG 1899 Hoffenheim (GER)

Group G

AS Roma (ITA)
PFC CSKA Moscow (RUS)

Where are all of my eggs

Hoping the cl is some sort of respite this year. Love the tournament and miss the big nights. Not been to a semi since 2011! Time flies. Barcelona seems inevitable with all the pogba nonsense

We're no where good enough to win it, not even as a dark horse. So on the back of that negativity I'd like to draw all the hardest teams possible. At least then we'll see some cracking games at Old Trafford as opposed to losing at home to ''terrible'' sides.

Give us Lokomotiv and the weakest 3 and 4 pot teams. I just want us to still be in Europe by January.

Why does Spain have 3 teams in pot 1 then?

Anyway, looks like we have a 7/8 chance of getting a team that's better than us from pot 1. Could be a tough group stage where we struggle to finish 2nd.

I don't think Atletico Madrid would be in Pot 1 like how we weren't after winning the EL. I think it was a typo where it should be Bayern.

No enthusiasm for this at all.
We need to make sure we are in the competition by February. Because it would mean either Jose has done well enough to last till Feb and thus be in good shape to coach us well in the CL, or a new manager will be coming in when we are languishing in 7th place in the league and progress in the cups and CLs is our only bread and butter for the season.

1. Real or Atlético 2. MUFC 3. Lyon 4. Inter

I don’t like facing Barcelona at all (always feel they have an mental edge over us) and Lok.Moskva would just be boring IMO. I’d take anyone else though - PSG (we’ve never faced them competitively?), Juventus or Bayern (some classic ties down the years and the Ronaldo factor), Real (it’s always been the tie IMO) or Atlético (massive fan of them from afar)

That would guarantee two amazing games at least to look forward to and obviously Inter / Lyon are traditionally teams with good European pedigree would make for other glamour clashes.

I’d still fancy us getting out of that group and we’d have some exciting games to look forward to (it’s been far too long in European terms). Obviously, now watch us get paired with 1.Moskva 3. Schalke and 4. Plzen :boring:

Even tho I want PAOK to knock Benfica out tonight so we move into Pot 2 I’d be more than happy with the above group. Although I’ve a feeling we will get a tough one, last years draw was very kind to us. But I still fancy us to get thru no matter how difficult it appears.

First draw has United being disappointing dumped into the Europa League. Liverpool got tough group too. Group F looks good. Would expect Spurs to walk their group.

Group A: Man City, Roma, PSV, Hoffenheim
Group B: Barcelona, Porto, CSKA, Galatasaray
Group C: Atletico, Shakhtar, Lyon, AEK
Group D: Juventus, Dortmund, Liverpool, Plzen
Group E: Bayern, Napoli, Ajax, Club Brugge
Group F: Real Madrid, Benfica, Monaco, Inter
Group G: Lokomotiv, Tottenham, Schalke, Young Boys
Group H: PSG, Man United, Salzburg, Valencia

Second draw was much nicer:

Group A: Man City, Porto, Schalke, Galatasaray
Group B: Atletico, Napoli, Ajax, Plzen
Group C: Barcelona, Shakhtar, Lyon, Young Boys
Group D: Bayern, Spurs, CSKA, Inter
Group E: PSG, Roma, PSV, Valencia
Group F: Juventus, Benfica, Liverpool, Hoffenheim
Group G: Lokomotiv, Man United, Salzburg, Club Brugge
Group H: Real Madrid, Dortmund, Monaco, AEK

We should do well on the CL this year, I'm expecting at least to reach 1/4 finals this time round. That CL music will get the players hype.

I want at least one very good team in the group stage. Someone like PSG or Barcelona would make me happy.

Seems like we're destined to get a tough group regardless.

I want at least one top team in the group to be able to have a big European encounter. The group we were in last year was a joke, I would be very disappointed if we got Lokomotiv from pot 1.

Give us Bayern, Lyon and Inter Milan.
