Some decent games this week. I'm torn between the Bayern PSG match, or hoping Madrid give Pool a good spanking. Who are we watching tonight?

Still no jeopardy in this terrible new format so I'll watch the Liverpool game and probably skip the rest.

I agree re jeopardy, the group stage is just long and pointless for any half decent side.

Not sure about that. Madrid, Bayern, City, and PSG all finished outside the top 8 last season.

Based on last season, about 16 points is needed for a top 8 finish. If Liverpool lose today, they probably need at least 4 points from Inter and Marseille away so there'd be a good chance of them not qualifying automatically.

Slot appears to have finally accepted that even an aging Robertson is a better player than Kerkez.

Remember when there were 2 group stages?
That was even more convoluted. This format has it's merits, but I think most probably people only start paying real attention during the knockout rounds.

Whole thing should be just be an open draw knockout, either 1 or 2 legs and forget about seeded draws.

I'd prefer the single group stage we had before but unseeded. At a push, keep teams from the same league apart.

Thank goodness. Not sure I have it in me to see a goal conceded.

Or have knockout qualifiers up to the last 16 teams. Then have 4 groups of 4, with an unseeded draw. Top 2 from each reach the quarter finals.

The Uefa model is more games = more money for us. It's just quantity over quality, way too many shit teams and way too many shit games in this format.

Not sure why, but with this CL system I'm not as nervous or excited before games, even if there are more big matches.

Is it still Haaland's one that is the only open play goal conceded this season?
The three goals conceded are Haaland’s, the Szoboszlai free-kick and a header from Woltemade, I think from a corner. And that’s in 16 games, mad.

Tearing up at the “You’ll Never Walk Alone” so
glad they’re the only team in the world where the broadcast will give you the full rendition of it without any commentary or watching the players in the tunnel or listening to the pundits talking about the match.

oh and then here comes Daniel fecking Sturridge.

Jeff Bezos is a cruel, cruel man.

Last season’s was the best version of the group stages we’ve had in years. I’m surprised how many are already saying this.

Unfortunately on the latter, it also suits the big sides to have more guaranteed income, so no pushback from them either.

Same but it's because there's too much of a chance to turn around a bad result from here.

Dunno, think it's just that considering how many mediocre teams the "big teams" are facing in this system the big ones don't feel important at all. Not like losing today is gonna stop us from going through.

Goooooaaal Bayern

Dangerous counters on both ends already, but more luck with ours

Is it just me or are the colours on Amazon prime really washed out?
