Champions League - Quarter Finals - 7/4, 8/4, 14/4, 15/4

Didn't Arsenal smash A.Madrid in the group stages this season or last?
Yeah but to be fair, it was at the Emirates with none of the jeopardy you see at this stage of the season. Arsenal smashed PSG at the same stage last season too...

Yes... I'd rather Liverpool win it than those fecking fecks.
Liverpool!??? Even Sir Alex had nothing but praise and admiration but to each his own I guess... But Liverpool? Seriously!??

With those defenders and Flick’s tactics Barca won’t win the champions league.
Always entertaining but you can’t make mistakes like that every year against teams you should be winning.
I watch football to have fun. I'd rather we never win the champions league again but we keep playing attacking football. I hope Flick stays for many years with us.

I guess it helps though that you keep winning league titles?

Bet you had fun tonight
I'd honestly rather watch my team get knocked out, playing how Barcelona do, than the shit on a stick football you see across most of the Premier League. Barca, Bayern, and PSG seem the only watchable top teams in Europe currently.

Yes but there's no way to have fun when you get knocked out, specially when you are superior to your opponent but you sabotaged yourself

If they get better defenders, their chances increase in the CL.

Main thing letting them down along with that high line, but more athletic defenders help with the high line too.

But they are very entertaining to watch and Yamal is the best player in the world for me. Sublime across both legs and unlucky to not participate further.

Yeah they do help. And they also show your average performance much better than these knock out games. Those week by week performances is what keeps me wanting to watch Barça. I, for instance, wouldn't approve playing like Atletico or Real Madrid just to win the champions league. I would turn off the tv if that ever happens.

Watching Luis Enrique's post-match interview now. I really like him. If I could choose any manager in the world to take the United job right now, it's him. He's quality.

Yeah agreed. I don't think their system is inherently flawed. It's high risk, true but as you say, they're just too good going forward that there has to be a way on the end. Don't forget how young they are also. They can only get better.

You don't think Real Madrid fans care? The perception is they have the highest possible standards or is that only about results?

I think the fact that Barca has seen considerable success helps. Besides, most of the generation that has watched football for the last 2-3 decades, has grown up seeing them wonderful and attacking football. I don't think they'd quite swap that style of football for boring, robotic football, even if it won them a CL.

The problem with that high risk system is that you can't run it with kids in your backline. Cubarsi and Co have done well but they need someone more experienced alongside them, especially for the big nights in Europe. Flick will not change his style of play, and kudos to him for that, because it does work well. That being said, he's been asking for a CB for a year and they need to give him one if they want to take the next step in the CL.

We need a striker and Barcelona offered ferran Torres for the same price as Rashford and people aren’t interested????

Thats fair, I enjoy watching Barca a lot as well but Flick must learn from his mistakes. You can play attacking football without having such dangerous defensive tactics.

At least in the big European games, La liga doesn’t seem like a problem.

And you need better defenders.

What has happened to Barca in Europe? Seems like they have gone back to pre-Messi/Ronaldinho days, where they were fun to watch, but never looked like winning. The best they have done in the last 11 seasons is two semi-finals, which is pretty poor by their standards. I think they have the same amount of league titles as Madrid in the last decade, but they have been nowhere near them in Europe.

This is a typical false dilemma fallacy. Since when the choice of a style guarantees winning a particular trophy?
