Chelsea 2025-26 - Worldwide losingest team of the 2025-26 season

So officially out of the CL for next season. Is it better or worse for them to be out of Europe altogether with regards to their huge squad?

6th can get Champions League this season (if Villa win the Europa and finish top 5).

I mean, Chelsea won't finish 6th but it's not "official" yet.

Ah, didn't realise that. But if it's not CL, what is your preference, Europe or no Europe?

We've won the league before in a "no Europe season" and having far fewer games than our rivals was a huge help.

I understand the financial implications of no Europe but I don't really give a shit about the Europa or Conference League.

Finish 10th, no Europe, bring Conte in and win the league next year.

That’s my position with United too (not the winning the league with Conte bit)

I am sure the ownership want some sort of European football for the minimal revenue it brings but that would be a trap in itself. A season out of Europe and far fewer games would allow for a real clearing of the decks with all of the failed punts and the chance for a more sane transfer window with a couple of key additions where they are most needed. The no Europe route really is a tonic when the wheels are completely coming off as we have just discovered, lets a consistent group emerge and build some real chemistry on the training pitch. Chelsea just give the impression of a frankenstein assembled squad without any understanding, lurching from game to game every 3 days and never having a chance to step back and figure out their identity.

What are the inverted commas for?
The irony is pretty obvious isn't it? World Champions, the best team on the planet, not competing in Europe, in 9th in their domestic league, (and at massive risk of not being in Europe next season too), and have lost 6 games in a row, scoring 1 goal.

Utterly chaotic game. Take out the very serious head injuries and it was so entertaining to watch the mess Chelsea have become.

At home to a relegation threatened side who were resting the core of the team (!) and getting absolutley battered. Wonderful.

Have they won a league game since they did their referee cuddle thing?

They will finish bottom half. I don’t see them beating Liverpool or Sunderland away, and I don’t think they will beat Spurs either.

Can you please show up against Spurs? Just one game and then you can go back to losing.

Does anyone know how bad the financial implications are for Chelsea if they dont have any European football next season?

Come on man

Well, seeing as no rules seem to apply whatsoever to Chelsea football club in any way shape or form - no implications at all. They'll spunk another billion of Russian oil on duff footballers, buy another 12 football teams from Morocco to the Greek 12th division, and limp on forevermore unimpeded.

And Everton will be docked 12 points because they forgot to file an expense claim for a toothbrush they used on an easyJet flight

They will somehow manage to get someone to buy Liam Delap for 100m to cover the loss of no European Football like they always do

They could fill the attacking unit of this season’s Flop Transfers XI with Gittens, Garnacho and Delap.

Eghbali should throw the towel in and the sporting directors should be fired.

Get someone in who knows how to run a football club and start again.

Prem is incredibly unforgiving these days. Any team in the league will punish you if you don't have your house in order.

Can't wait to see what loopholes they exploit this summer to enable them to buy another dozen players. No doubt they'll sell a few of their flops to Strasbourg for a few hundred mill. Scummy club

Can't remember us being consistently worse then this lot currently are, even in our darkest periods under Moyes and Amorim. How they're even 9th is a mini miracle.

Yes. I do.

If we're not in European competition then we're not subject to their FFP rules.

Get the cheque book out Blueco!

You'll still be subject to the new Premier League squad cost rules though and the loss of revenue of European football will make a big hit to that.
