Chelsea 2025-26 - Worldwide losingest team of the 2025-26 season

So it begins again with the signing of some kid called Barco.

No idea who he is, but if you took two guesses at which club he was signing from you would basically be correct on both accounts.

If he manteins last season form and keeps being more mature and less childish like in the past, he can become a trully great player.

I hope Scaloni at least takes him to the WC and with luck even use him

Used to play for Brighton, full Argentina international.

You not knowing who he is doesn't make him some rando. It just means you wouldn't be my first call on Who Wants to be a Millionaire if the question was about football players.

So that would make in 13 deals between the clubs in a short space of time? Surely something like that will get alarm bells ringing?

As for Barco, it will be interesting to see how he has developed since leaving Brighton.

Alarm bells to what? There's a joint ownership in place between the two clubs exactly for transfers like this. It's not a secret.

Multi club ownership is terrible for the sport and I hate it but it's allowed.

Surely there should be some kind of limit in place to stop so many deals happening in a short space of time?

I appreciate there's no kind of financial gain going on as that would be ridiculous, but I don't remember hearing of such a volume of movement on two seasons as this in any other multi-club model.

So he just needs to move to a club where he will learn from experienced, senior pros who will set some high standards for him to follow. Most clubs that aren’t Chelsea, basically.

There's no limit to the number of deals.

If they're gonna change the rules, just ban multi club ownership.

Barco could also play as a left wing-back if Alonso goes with the 3-4-2-1 from his Leverkusen days.

Seems like a good player but probably not one who moves the needle when it comes to really adding quality so not really a signing to get too excited about. Still young enough to develop a lot of course.
 
So how will the transfer fee and everything works, French club will sign them for decent fee and Chelsea will sign them for below market price?

He should play in midfield where he has played since going to Strasbourg, thats what got him the move.

That can't happen under the current rules. Transfers have to be reasonable prices between jointly owned clubs. In this case, Strasbourg will make a profit.

But in the first transfer, Strasbourg probably pay less of an inflated price than if Chelsea try to negotiate a fee directly.

Who decides reasonable price? Also young player who had good season will cost a lot but Chelsea can get them for discounted price, even with Strasbourg making profit, not Chelsea's fault, system is just broken

Assessors appointed by the Premier League and UEFA. We all know how competent they are.

As for the system being broken, no argument from me.
 
I read fees 40m, not sure if true or not but would seem like moving money between clubs.

For me left wingback should be just as an alternative, to solve some issue. If not his worst aspects would be exposed: lack of positioning on the flanks, not exactly an excellent defender there, he recovers more an better in the mid and if he yries something fancy, better to do it in the mid than there.

Actually if he finally matures in terms of character (less cocky, more focus), adding some physicality won't be bad and continues to play with ambition and on the front foot, yet less careless and at times even too much provocative and silly, he'll certainly can become a diff maker. Technically he is very gifted, wants to win and does not like to just be tidy.

The coach in charge must get that he needs some freedom too and he will deliver, he'll loose half the player if he tries to contain him too much.

We'll see what Barco arrives to Chelsea, I've seen his best and worst and are both quite extreme. If Scaloni takes him to the WC, I feel would be great for him to take another step in the right direction.

Chelsea fans have been bemoaning this shit all season. Quality over quality. One quality player, purchased at a premium would have been much more impactful than this shit.

We'd have been much better off just keeping Madueke and Jackson, two players we had already invested time into developing and are better than the players we tried to replace them with.
 
The 20-year-old joined Everton on loan in February. That deal included a £25million ($33m) option to make the move permanent, which was not taken up by Everton.

However, George may still complete a permanent move to Hill Dickinson Stadium. Talks between Chelsea and Everton remain ongoing and could conclude by the end of this week. Everton will pay less up front than the option, but add-ons will take it close to the original £25m ($33m) Chelsea were originally requesting.

Would be happy if he came. Think he has some great potential despite still being a bit raw. If we can negotiate like we have for Hackney for a base fee in the 15m region then it's a bit of a no brainer as you'd think he's young enough to recoup that fee in the future if it doesn't work out.

Lacroix would be a common sense signing for them.

Two years of prem experience, shown his leadership skills post Guehi guiding their younger CBs and just broken into the French squad. Can also play in back 3 no issue if Alonso goes with that.

That calibre suggests they'll be back shortly far more than any 20 year old forward I think.
