Chelsea 2025-26 - Worldwide winningest team of the 2024-25 season

Whilst the Jackson deal seems like good business if there are no opts out of the buy obligation (like the BILD report suggested), I'm a tad concerned that the only non-injured strikers we have currently are Pedro and Guiu. I do hope the George deal with Fulham was made knowing that there's a striking option incoming in the next few hours.

We’re now absolutely loaded with depth in attacking midfield and central midfield but will once again leave ourselves short up front now that Delap is out for who knows how long. Very risky.

Apparently Chelsea will receive £3.4 million when Guéhi signs for the Red Mickeys.

For a one striker system is it realistic to have an 3rd option that much better than Guiu?

For example even some best teams had the likes of Carlton Cole in that role.

Probably not when everyone's fit and available but now we already know Delap is going to be out for a long time and still purposefully made the team weaker by letting Jackson go.

Should have just stuck with the initial decision of cancelling Jackson's move and gone into the post-window period with the strongest possible squad but the amount of money on offer was too tempting for the people in charge. On one hand I get it because it's a lot of money but at the same time it's a worrying sign of what the club's priorities are.

Wasn’t he one of the most promising youngsters?

Coming out of the youth teams, he was. I think he struggled a bit to make an impact when he made the step up to the first team. Acheampong for example, promoted at the same time but he found it much easier to make an impact immediately. I think he's super talented and I think with patience and the right coaching, he could be really good in this league really soon. I would not have sacrificed him just to sign Gittens and Garnacho.

Imagine having even a second striker… The luxury!

If there was a balon d'or for selling players. Whoever is in charge of this at Chelsea should win it.

I just went to Stamford Bridge for 20mins to see if I could get a RedCafe transfer deadline day exclusive. Sky are nowhere to be found, they've either packed up or are just using a computerized background feed for their Stamford Bridge reporting.

Planning to shift Chilwell to Strasbourg apparently, presumably as nobody actually wants him. Permanently as they've already loaned them the max they can. So the other LWB that they sold to Strasbourg earlier this summer (Samuels-Smith) is now going out on loan so now this LWB they're selling to Strasbourg can be back up to the other LWB (Moreira) they sold to Strasbourg last summer. Normal.

and there it is

So uh, what happened with Tyrique George’s move to Fulham? Haven’t seen any announcement or that he was doing a medical. Did that collapse?

Chelsea didn't manage to offload raheem sterling. With their amazing ability to get good fees for players. Looks like sterling was a step too far.

Sterling has that lethal combination of monstrous wages and reportedly only wanting to stay in London. Was always going to be nearly impossible to move him on.

I think this Sterling contract is THE reason why our owners/directors have put in the new wage structure. They want to avoid ever making a mistake like this again.

Delighted that the Tyrique George transfer to Fulham fell through. We didn't need to offload him, the money wasn't spectacular and he is probably our best cover for Joao Pedro.

Aren't we able to offload him to clubs in federations where the transfer window closes later this month, like Turkey?

i think Chelsea may have intermediaries or something who are paid well and who can do the selling for them aggressively.

He had options like Sancho but refused them. Not sure where.

Turkey and Saudi are the last bastions of hope for PL clubs to offload unwanted players.

In terms of actual first team impact, these are the relevant signings correct?

Striker - Jackson and Nkunku out / Pedro and Delap in

Forwards - Sancho and Madueke out / Gittens, Garnacho and Estevao in

Defender - Hato in.

You’re in for a world of pain when the CL starts. I just don’t see this squad as being able to get top 4 whilst playing European football.

By "you", I presume you mean Chelsea and their fans.

What are the deficiencies in your view?

Their defence is a huge one. To top it off, the few options they have that are good are injury prone or injured. I’m still not convinced on Sanchez. Joao Pedro has shown at Brighton that he can go off the boil for extended periods, Delap isn’t ready to lead the line at a top club. Palmer’s form in the league hasn’t been great for ages now, it’s been plastered over by great performances here and there. It’s got all the makings of a horrible season when CL football kicks in.

We had one of the best defences in the league statistically last season. In fact we only conceded 2 more goals than the champions Liverpool

Even with Colwill injured we have Chalobah, Fofana, Tosin, Badiashille and Acheampong at CB. Yes it’s not world class but it’s not awful either.

Full backs are both excellent with James/Gusto on one side and Cucurella and Hato on the other.

Acheampong handled mateta well against crystal palace. That kid will be a huge star in defence. Can play as RB too.

Don't know about badiashile but rumour is management have full faith in him. So why maresca had been told to find the solution within when he asked for a CB after colwill injury.

Have Hato also who can play well in Left sided CB. Though a wonderful attacking LB he is in nature.

Defense also will improve naturally with the midfield reinforcements. Santos and Essugo are great additions to the squad.

It seems the Ishe Samuels-Smith permanent transfer for £6.5M has been quietly cancelled and he's now gone out on loan from Chelsea to Swansea rather than Strasbourg to Swansea. Presumably to make squad space for the arrival of Chilwell who couldn't be flogged off anywhere else but officially it's because Samuels-Smith got homesick and wanted to return to the UK.

Look away boys, absolutely nothing to see here. What an absolute mess.

Chelsea SD s earned new contracts and did these things in two weeks time like jackson and chilwell trouble.

I feel like we’ve got a squad literally tailor made to deal with fixture pile up. We’re deep everywhere other than striker with Delap out.

And as another poster mentioned above, we had a great defensive record last season and so far this season. Yes, Sanchez is absolutely a worry in goal and our CB’s might get exposed at times against certain opponents but which top club doesn’t have defensive questions? Look at how Liverpool and City have looked at the back recently. Look at how Barca looked defensively in the UCL last season.

I feel like only Arsenal have a defense currently where you you’d say it’ll be very difficult to score many past them.

I'm trying to understand this one. Transfer cancelled, as in the fee is null and void and he was never a Strasbourg player. Or a separate transfer from Strasbourg back to Chelsea?
