Chelsea Football Club (also known as The Blues and The Pensioners) are a professional football club based in Fulham, London. Chelsea were founded on 10 March 1905 at The Rising Sun pub (now The Butcher's Hook) after Gus Mears had previously acquired the Stamford Bridge athletics stadium with the aim of turning it into a football ground. Since there was already a team named Fulham in the borough, the name of the adjacent borough, the Metropolitan Borough of Chelsea, was settled on.

Chelsea's first major title success came in the form of the League Cup with the appointment of former Arsenal player, Ted Drake, who also led Chelsea to the their first ever League title, enabling them to compete in the European Cup, but after objections from The Football League and the FA, Chelsea were persuaded to withdraw from the competition before it started - allowing Matt Busby's Manchester United to start their illustrious adventure with the competition.

After decades of being non-competitors, Chelsea returned to the domestic title fore in 2003 under new owner Roman Abramovich, who fueled an unprecedented spending spree - starting in the mid 2000s. Since the takeover, Chelsea have won 1 Champions League title, 5 Premier League titles, 5 FA Cup titles, 2 Europa League titles and 3 League Cup titles. Chelsea's most prominent rivalries include local clubs Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, title rivals Manchester United and Liverpool. Chelsea play their home games at Stamford Bridge.

Huge game. We’ve got a pretty no bad record against them, particularly at Stamford Bridge (unbeaten in our last 3 visits)

Ighalo’s debut. Maybe very wishful thinking but could Pogba be back? Really hope so as can’t bare watching Pereira in our team anymore.

Why the feck is this on a Monday, with the Europa League three days later?

Other leagues do tend to give a shit about European competitions when it comes to scheduling but not the mighty Premier League.

Give Ighalo a chance in the next game, you never know Ole he just might surprise you with the effort compared to Martial

Ighalo is a top top player but Anthony knows the club and the demands of being a Man United player.

Yeah he does but just doesn't look like he is prepared to put the hard yards in enough and rightfully so it's starting to annoy fans

Ighalo is on pre season mode. Chinese league hasn't started. He won't be match fit to start at Chelsea mate. He will be eased in.

The fans I have spoken to have nothing but positive things to say. Of course there will be stumbling blocks along the road but this is one of the youngest squads in the league. Right now it's about building the right culture which we knew from the start wouldn't happen overnight.

Good chance pogba will be back and of course Matic is available. Midfield suddenly looks strong.... Just a shame we now have such a 2nd rate forward line for them to supply. Rashford make all the difference we look lost without him in attack.

What culture is that, then? Genuine question. Don't parrot something unless you can specifically break down what you mean by this. What culture?

The culture of accepting mediocre performances and results?

The culture of rewarding the same?

    What culture?

A loss and top 4 is dead and buried. I mean, it pretty much is already seeing as we’re god awful, but there’s a tiny chink of light showing. Defeat here puts it to bed once and for all.

Ighalo must start. Can't afford to have a lazy prick like Martial doing his strolling about act in this.

It will be Ighalo's debut and he will be desperate to make an impression.

Ighalo ready to make his debut too.

If we get Pogba back for this, I think he could potentially be the difference maker.

Matic back also will be a boost. Can’t believe I'm saying that but credit where it’s due, he’s been pretty decent recently.

Chelsea playing their regular game will help a lot you'd expect. Kind of fancy us to nick a win but cant see us scoring more than a goal most weeks. Our performance is all kind of riding on Martial, we'll be as good or as bad as he is. Hopefully the break does James good, we kind of need him to find a bit of form.

Just please no Pereira or Lingard. Get Ighalo fit.

De Gea, Shaw, Maguire, Lindelof, AWB, Dalot, Fred, Matic, Fernandes, Martial, Ighalo

    5-3-2

Greenwood, Mata, James to come on.

    2-1 Chelsea.

THE biggest game for both teams this season, assuming Chelsea, with all the inconsistencies, won't go deep in the Champions League.

We have blown so many chances to close this gap since the end of November

Nov 30 lost to West ham, we drew against Villa following day

Dec 14 lost to Bournemouth, we drew against Everton following day

Jan 1 drew against Brighton, we lost against Arsenal later that day

Jan 18 lost against Newcastle, we lost against scousers following day

Jan 21 drew against Arsenal, we lost against Burnley following day

Feb 1 drew against Leicester, we drew against Wolves later today

I can accept not closing the gap against Arsenal or Liverpool away even Wolves at home but we should be beating Villa, Everton and Burnley at home no doubt about that.

I can see these missed opportunities coming back to cost us at the bridge in two weeks time where we have a pretty poor record in the premier league era.

Absolutely no harm. I just hope he can score a goal or two in 5-10 minutes because there is no way he is getting subbed in before the 80th.
I have a horrible feeling that you could well be right

Last good right side forward was Nani. No wonder we are shit.

Massive game. Lose this and our already slim chances of making top 4 will plummet to zero.

Thanks for posting this and tbh I expect this to continue to be the case between now and the end of the season. Both sides more or less as inconsistent as one another separated by 1 or 2 games

He was literally due to start his season in a couple of days. He’s now got an extra week of pre-season. Chinese Super Cup and ACL were both due to take place/start before the CSL.

So he's not match fit is he? Not played a single competitive game for months. He's not going to be thrown into Chelsea away I wouldn't think. Probably a bench cameo I reckon.

Assuming everyone's fit other then Rashford, I would play

    DDG
    AWB-Lindelof-Maguire-Williams
    McTominay-Fred
    Bruno
    James-Ighalo-Martial

With Pogba to come on at 60 in place of Ighalo, to play from the left with Martial pushed into CF (and maybe Greenwood on and into CF, with Martial pushed to the right in place of James, depending on need).
