Exactly this. No shame in it at all, he's a kid thrown into a very tough scenario. He’s nowhere near ready. Not every 17 year old can be a Messi, Ronaldo or a Rooney as a teenager.
He needs time and patience. People forget how young he is. We could give him three more years of developing without pressure and he’d still only be 20!Exactly this. No shame in it at all, he's a kid thrown into a very tough scenario.
This is the kind of performance that would have the Højlund thread radioactive right now. Difference is of course that we didn't pay a king's ransom for him and that he has way less experience, so it's only right that he gets more leeway. But it suggests that it wouldn't have been better to just start him over Højlund for the last few months.I don't know if it's a bad or a good thing but he looked no worse than Hojlund.

I suppose it's all about expectations. This is what you expect from a 17 year old making his first league start. It's not what's expected from a £60m signing from abroad. This is the kind of performance that would have the Højlund thread radioactive right now. Exactly. And we didn't make it easy for him either, of course, but that's been the story for whoever plays striker for us this season.I suppose it's all about expectations. I think he will spend next season out on loan as he is clearly not ready for this level. The fact that Wheatley and Hugill are out on loan is why he is being pressed into action so soon but for his own sake he needs time to develop at a lower level.
Yes he is always a bit aloof. Generally teenagers who are tall as feck and lanky will look the same tbf.No where near ready. I think he needs a season for the U21's next term, training with the first team and used as a bench option for the cup games.
Does anyone feel he lack the intensity? Is it the same for the unders? @top1whoisman @limerickcitykid

Barcelona did with Yamal. When he was 16 even, not 17.Edit.
And who's going to take a, though somewhat talented, 17 year old inexperienced player and give him minutes?
No one at a decent level.
You think Obi's talent is comparable to Yamal ?Barcelona did with Yamal. When he was 16 even, not 17.
I think that Barcelona does it on a consistent basis. Yamal, earlier there were very similar cases with Pedri, Gavi, Fati to name a few…You think Obi's talent is comparable to Yamal ?
