Is it okay to say that I don't see it with this lad?

I know he has only had a few minutes and is very under developed but there's not been any moments that got me off my seat and be exited about his future here.

He looks extremely slow for a young lad. Doesn't even seem to press or work that hard. Doesn't seem to have any great link up or hold up play. His technique doesn't seem to be that special.

Do players gain alot of speed as they develop? I'm sure they get quicker but I don't think a Suzuki is suddenly turning to a ferrari either.

I guess his scored 2 goals in the last game but it still wasn't really a great performance & was just some good finishes.

Needs a couple of seasons away on loan. Nowhere near ready

He has a good sense for positioning. Every time he played, he managed to find himself in few chances.

But yeah, not ready yet to be a serious option up front. Better than Hojlund though.

Yup another year in U21s and maybe just maybe a favorable loan in League 2 the second half of the season

He’s not going to league 2….

Id loan him out in the January window. Hes still only 17.

Got an earful from Cunha when he took a shot on his weaker foot while Cunha was like 2 feet away and was about to hit with his stronger foot. He is young so hopefully that part of his game will mature

It’s a good question. My mother is blind. Sometimes she’ll say: ‘I’m not a bad person just because I can’t read webmail, am I?’ And I say to her: ‘No, you can’t help it if you can’t see. You’re just as okay a person regardless!’

At other times, she’ll say: ‘I know you tell me that my phone bill payment did go through according to the bank statement on the internet, but I just can’t see it. Please help me to pay for it one more time.’

At these times I simply pull my hair out. Hope this helps.

I was arguing with someone who thought he was better than Hojlund. He's too good for U-21s and I see the promise, just ship him off on loan and get him some game time. I'd rather him at Lausanne than Kone.

There has been and always will be good strikers that will take a shot on goal when others are in better positions...that is their nature.

What has he done in the u21s?

I may be wrong but currently looks like someone who excelled in the lower age groups purely due to this size not skills.

I guess it's U-20 (for Denmark) and not U-21 but he already looks too good at that level.
He was too good in the U18s for us but as far as I know he did not have much game time in the U21s.
That should be the next step and if he excels there then he should get some Cup games.

I think it's easy to see that he is very raw, not ready for this level of football but also that he will at some point be a striker who will be scoring loads of goals. He has the frame, and his movement is really good. Has a knack of getting on the end of things, gets shots off in the box, chances fall his way which is just a natural striker thing. Some have it like him, others like Hojlund just don't have it. People blame the service but it's nonsense, it's all in the striker themselves.

Wouldn't be hard on him for taking the shot on as well, he scored like that in the post season tour and it's a good trait for striker to take shots when they have a half chance. Cunha's opportunity was marginally better anyway.

He’s 17 and under normal circumstances wouldn’t even be seen as an option for at least another two years. Due to our desperation as a club and fans for someone up front we want to fast track him but it’s just not going to work.

Let him develop naturally as any 17yo would at a top club or any club to be honest and when he actually starts showing that he’s ready to contribute then give him minutes.

I personally think he’s going to be one of the absolute best strikers around. He’s not Rooney level at this age but who is. Most strikers get to a good enough level at 24/25.

Better at getting a shot away in the box, but still not great at that either, but he is invisible unless the ball is in the box, we need a CF that is part of the play.

Sensible post. It’s actually almost impossible to predict a trajectory, but somehow we almost always look at the Rooney, Owen types. Fact of the matter is that those are the outliers. Most players develop at a later stage than those few.

He looks like he needs to develop his speed and strength. That’s natural for any 17 year old not called Wayne Rooney.

I think he needs a loan to a lesser league so he can play regularly, build his minutes up and learn to play in a men’s team.

He has the size but he needs time still as he’s very young.

He doesn't need a loan. He needs to be in the u21's for at least another year and then we can talk about a loan.

Saying that , he really shouldn't be anywhere near the first team atm.

I was thinking that he needed to be in and around the first team, but I think you're right. He's far from ready.

I think he's largely right.

His size and physicality were a boon in reserves but his movement, positional awareness and clinical finishing were also huge factors. His records for Arsenal and United at U18 level are incredible no matter his size, and he's not the only youngster in youth ranks with such a build.

A big guy like Hojlund didn't even register anything close to Chido Obi's output in his academy days in Denmark for instance and it's less competitive there surely. Chido has been fast tracked for good reason

He has a bit of speed but I'd say he's more on the strong side and he's just getting used to using that advantage against adults which he hasnt had to do in the past. These adults know how to deal with a player like him and use their experience advantage. Thats where he's truly short and he made some poorer decisions. He just needs to play a lot more matches against men and perhaps at some point on loan at a club with lower expectations and less quality in the opposition defenders. He doesnt look on the cusp of being ready as a starter so might be a few years before he looks like he might get us 10 goals in the league

I hate that cliche. Messi has scored what, 800 career goals and he would always give the ball to a teammate if he was in a better spot to score a goal. This is just idiotic. A good and smart player makes that pass. If Obi doesent, it just says that he has a lot to learn.

Still looks a bit like a lamb amongst the wolves.
Once he can impose himself more he'll be a handful.

You mean he may not be as good as Messi? What a disappointment.

Ronaldo would take that shot 9/10 times though

It wasn't a comparison, it was an example how football works. Stop posting shit now if you have nothing to say.
You clearly don’t know what a comparison is so kindly take your own advice.

You still haven't talked about anything I actually wrote. You are just here posting shit, I guess because you have nothing better to do. Stop quoting me with your shit now.

You compared his decision making to Messi. On the flip side, Ronaldo takes that shot every time.

So yeah silly comparison

You’re an angry gentleman.

No, it was an example how a player with good decision making would do and I said that he has a lot to learn. He shouldn't be encouraging to make the wrong decision. All the successful and best players has that knowledge. If it is Salah, Rooney, Aguero, van Persie, doesn't matter. He will never be a great player if he can't do that.

“Looks too good “

things that should be banned on the forum

For context he’s 4 appearances for the u20’s and scored 2 goals.
