I don’t see the Leeds game but from last season he does seem to have the knack of being in the right place at the right time.
That’s something that cannot be taught. It’s an instinct. When you have to think about where you should run to or be it’s already too late you should have been there already.
Give him a few years and he might be great. Certainly seems to have the necessary physical attributes.
Let’s try not to rush him, having said that if we don’t buy a CF would prefer him to hoijlund.
Maybe not zirkzee though.

Ronaldo would take that shot 9/10 times though

This settles it, Messi is a better player than Cristiano, Obi can end being a phenom striker like Cris and finally no matter the player, that play was better to pass it than try it

I hate that cliche. Messi has scored what, 800 career goals and he would always give the ball to a teammate if he was in a better spot to score a goal. This is just idiotic. A good and smart player makes that pass. If Obi doesent, it just says that he has a lot to learn.
A good striker always gives the goal scoring opportunity to teammates in better positions rather than take the chance himself
There is a reason why Messi is known as the GOAT, lesser mortals play a different game.

Seems to snatch at chances, but I can see why. Impressive how big he looks even when compared to seasoned professionals. Needs to keep improving.

It's pretty common, most managers wouldn't be happy if they didn't.

"Chido Obi starts this afternoon. The youngster has removed United from his bio on Instagram, so maybe he's annoyed at his lack of first-team opportunities after being around the squad last term?? Obi is 17 years old and must earn his stripes #mufc"

If true.. wtf even is this? Already doing something like this?

Willing to give him the benefit of the doubt at 17 but hopefully not another immature tit on our hands.

did you expect a lot of loyalty and patience after he left Arsenal at that age?

There must be something else to the story that we’re not hearing. But if true he’s already kicking up a fuss at this stage of the season, it would be really disappointing.

The U21s beat City 2-1 and Obi scored a goal and had a good performance. No surprise at the negative story stealing the limelight

We’re in 2 competitions, yes just 2. Loan him out and get him some game time in league 1. Our squad is far too big for a team that’s got the league and FA cup only. Players will grow frustrated with lack of game time.

Check if he follows Garnacho on the gram.

Yeah, should loan him out to Championship or another league.

He clearly has the physicality to cope. Needs experience.

I can understand why someone like a Lacey may benefit from U21 but not sure we need to keep him in U21.

What the hell is going with these younger players? They all seem to be dissatisfied with their playing time. First Garnacho, then Mainoo and now Chido Obi. United has a serious problem with the discpline of their younger players. They're so spoiled and entitled and they think they have a guaranteed spot in the starting XI.

A cultural reset in Utd will resolve these kinds of problems. There's too much player power in Utd and players need to earn their right to be in the starting XI, instead of complaining about it.

It doesn't help that we aren't winning often enough, so players will think they could do better. If you're first team is winning games every week then players are more likely to accept not getting as many minutes.

Fans hyping them up, so much...so soon.

I swear it gets to their heads.

They think they've made it. They think they're fecking superstars already when they've done feck all.

I think this is one of the main reasons, we are playing rubbish so players will feel that 'if I can't get any minutes now, when will I?'.

Even if he is 16, he has never wowed me enough to feel like he gets the hype he deserves.

Of course the lad is not going to have a good 45 mins but one or two touches of brilliance in a match? I've not really seen that even in friendlies.

He’s 17 , unlikely to start for many teams in the championship.

The point of hoarding talented youngsters is if one doesn't make it or kicking up a fuss, we sell and move on.

Still early days though, someone should get on his ears and tell him to knuckle down, his chance will come.

Chelsea are the masters of it, loan them out, let another team develop them and either they come into the first team or we flip for a profit. Sign as many of them as possible and use that formula.

He needs a loan. We have Sesko, Cunha and Zirkzee who can all play upfront, he needs precious game time to develop. It’s very possible that we may only have 40 games this season in total (if we get knocked out in the 3rd round of the FA cup). It’s crazy to have a senior squad the size of arsenal and Pool’s going into a season where we’re in 2 comps.

Garnacho was obcious, Mainoo could fairly look for places with actual perspective, which now looks reliant on injuries or other reasons to move Bruno into 10 again. In that sense it could've even be fair for Garnacho to look for a place where he can play as a winger or have a manager believe in him in another way than Amorim asks him to become. But the way he dealt with it was very much like you say about young players in that he acted super entitled, especially after he actually seemed fine with that left 10 position and just underperformed. Then it's not just not feeling like you fit into this club and the manager's philosophy, you're also undermining your teammates by implying that you shouldn't just play every game, but that you should be picked ahead of Amad, Mount, Zirkzee, Mainoo, Hojlund and even Bruno. Whether you think he was better than enough or even all of those, Garnacho was great a few times, but not so great to be an undisputed untouchable. Even if you disagreed with his exclusion in that final, and it's fine to be pissed about not starting or any minute you miss. Might even be a good thing as a lot of players are great natural supportes when not playing, but some need that fire to give their all for the team.

What I'm trying to say is Garnacho is the only of these three that has a clear attitude problem, even if the others haven't shown a clearly red United heart. You're allowed to not be the #1 fan of your employer and to think of the prospects of your career as a professional.

Maybe Odi removed a bit of his profile out of spite, maybe he wants to be more of an individual or personality beyond his occupation/hobby.

Or it's like how "Ferran Torres changed his account to one that contains the number 21"........

To be honest if he puts his head down and keeps banging in the goals he’ll be ahead of Zirkzee next season and 2nd choice behind Sesko.

Kinda understandable as we had no striker and played Cunha, he didn't even make the bench. He was promised an easier route to the first team when he joined.

Garnacho and Mainoo in nutshell.

The Fans are even worse. They think that every product of Utd academy is a regen of the class of 92. For example, they all got mad at Amorim because Mainoo didn't play a lot of minutes but they ignore the fact that someone like Foden got benched by Pep this whole time.

Foden was the best player in the EPL just a year ago btw. He's also a product of City's academy and a 5 time EPL champion.

He has to show some quality and focus too. He’s looked lackadaisical every time I’ve seen him.

It seems like all of them have serious attitude issues, Garnacho being the most obvious one. Mainoo is trying to raise his wages up to 200k a week and potentially forcing his way out due to his lack of playing time.

Mainoo is his own worst enemy because he was one of our best players in 23/24 but last season he was atrocious. From the way that he played last season, he certainly doesn't deserve to be in the starting XI and he needs to understand that. No one is entitled to be in the starting XI, even Ronaldo himself learned that the hard way a couple of seasons ago.

Chido is only 17 and he deleted all of his Man utd instagram posts because of his (lack) of playing time. That's even more ridiculous because it's clear that he isn't even ready for the Premier League. All of them share one common thing- they're entitled and they act like they are the next coming of Ronaldo or something.

Fergie wasn't afraid to bench young Ronaldo and I really doubt that young Ronaldo had the guts to complain and even demand more playing time to Fergie. The discipline that our younger players have is shocking and it needs to change. A cultural reset of our club and the dressing room would eradicate this kind of behavior among our youth.

I have to praise Yoro because he is a good and dedicated professional and the likes of Mainoo and Obi need to look up to him. Hojlund seems like a good lad, but too bad that he wasn't good enough for us.

Just hasn't looked as talented as promised since he joined has he? Hopefully he can become a good enough player for us to make some money on in a couple of years.

Whats happened to these young players. They are so entitled. its not that long ago . they would have been polishing a senior players boots after making him tea/coffee then heading off to sweep the concourses around the stadium.

He was never the best player in the pl.

Young players have to grab their chance when they have it. Obi had quite a few chances and a lot of minutes but didn't really do anything with that time. If you look at the young players that truly broke through (Rashford, Januzaj, Greenwood, Mainoo etc.) it was clear as day that they would have a place in the first team from very early on. Obi hasn't looked like that. He has looked like a player who is not ready.

We gave him chances to take Hojlund's place last season, he just didn't really grasp the opportunity.
One of those few chances he had goes in and it could have been a different story.

He never did that.

You have no idea why he would do anything anyway, certainly not the reason behind something he didn’t even do.

Always funny when people on here hop on their high horse about attitude and entitlements and abuse players based off of stories they’ve completely fabricated in their own imagination.
