He’s resting players for Thursday, and has very few options.

I don’t imagine anyone really wants to see Eriksen start games anymore. But we do need to give some players a break, especially when one of them is Casemiro - and we know he can’t play every game.
I understand that he is resting players, but some options should be out of the table, players like Eriksen and Lindelof basically offer nothing. They are a handicap from the moment they step on the pitch.

No worse way to breed youngsters than see the club tolerate shit performers on obscene contracts imo. The best introductions for youngsters during the past years has been when we were to the bare bones and forced into it. That's how Rashford showed up for example. How we handled that afterwards was a completely different matter imo.

It's not the point whether I can name a youngsters from the youth team, you are completely missing the point. I know them by name, don't watch them regularly to give a fair verdict. You have people employed by the club to do that exact thing. The question I am asking is what is the purpose of our youth teams if they can't answer in a situation like this?

Kone is 19 years of age, so is Moorhouse, the Fletcher twins are 18 years of age, if they are ever going to make it here, they need to be able to respond in a situation like this, and for that they need to be given a chance.

The coaches that you call on about, basically exiled Amad for a year and a half under ETH, deeming Antony to be better. I don't trust these coaches at all, I think Amorim just like many other senior managers plays "safe", with both Eriksen and Lindelof yesterday for example, and the result was what we saw.
I think the purpose of the youth team is to funnel as many first-team ready players into the senior squad as possible. I don't think it's to bail out the senior squad at any cost, when they aren't performing. And I don't think it's fair to expect them to "respond" to the situation we are in. We are talking about youth players that have no senior football experience and no experience playing in this team. Who knows if they have even trained with the first team? Throwing them into a completely dysfunctional side against a pretty good and aggressive Newcastle would not have been good.

We saw what we got with Eriksen and it was bad, so it's easy to say a youth player would have been better. In all likelihood they probably would have been dominated and bullied as well. Whether it's better to just shun Eriksen, Lindelof and others to give youth some experience is highly debatable. In terms of yesterdays result, I really don't think it would have made a difference.

Man Utd 0:1 Wolves New
A few nice passes but an absolutely braindead decision to give away the free kick Wolves scored from. Sold out what was an incredible defensive effort from a makeshift back line.

He should've never been in that sort of position to defend, but I also have no clue why he's still playing. There must be some youngster who could play in midfield and offer more physicality.

How can he foul a player so close to the goal? I honestly don’t understand how Amorim chooses him with his age and legs gone. He has zero impact on the game.

Has a nice pass on him every 10-15 minutes of a game except during that exact same time he's pretty much a liability on and off the ball with his lack of physicality and awareness.

He's done well for a free signing but I'm more than happy to see him leave in the summer. A classy player on his day but anybody who can run without tripping on himself would be a upgrade.

I don't know why we insist on always playing somebody who makes it harder for everyone around them. There is always somebody who through age, lack of ability on the ball, style of play, makes it so all the other players have to compensate for them.

I don't blame Eriksen, we know he's a tidy player but we also know even at his prime he was never quite good enough, and he's a long way past that now.

Lets hope we don't continue a faulty way of thinking. Making use of AMs in midfield is a risky step yet many on here were happy when we did it and even had him in their lineups. Same thing could happen again. Of course, many would say thats TOTALLY different but to me, it kind of isn't. If you want to get by with playing players like that in midfield, the team has to be set up in a certain way and it needs to be able to balance this stuff out. I don't think we are. I think, it is very important to bring in one or even two starting quality midfielders to the team to finally stop the bleeding of always losing midfield battles as soon as we don't sit deep.

I applauded the Eriksen transfer back then because I thought it was a smart move to add another good AM to the team to take away some of the pressure of Bruno. But it turned out very different than that.

That really should be his last appearance for us this season in all honesty. Is Collyer still injured?

What? One of the top assist men in PL history wasn't good enough?

I blame his minutes on the manager, absolutely trash minutes to give to a player who is leaving in the summer. Give these minutes to a youth player. Terrible outing from a player way past his prime.

I'd argue that for free he brought quality which could be counted on the fingers of one hand and because of his status and past parformances, he's still given gametime, which should have be given to academy players or others. He stank the place 80% of times and wages were pretty high too for such a useless player.

Basically replaced Mata with someone just as slow. Free signing or not, these aren't the players needed anymore in football.

Brentford 4:3 Man Utd New
You could really see the difference today. We suddenly got vertical two times within the first minute of Eriksen playing, where we had been playing sidewards and backward up until then. Got an assist for the Garnacho goal and controlled our build up play. The downside was the corners. Good creative 30 minutes.

We should have been using him more off the bench this season, give him the final 35 minutes of most games.

We pass the ball a lot better when he comes on.

You could see the quality in the passing improve the team straight away. However you could also see the incredible lack of mobility there as well, losing 2nd balls where he had a couple metres advantage distance wise etc. Convinced that the next midfielder we sign should have his profile with improved physicality.
