Christopher Nkunku

I hope we learnt our lesson with Mata and Mount. Need to stay away from this transfer as much as possible unless its a loan with an option to buy at the end of the year.

Have you seen the list of players we bought from Chelsea? Might as well throw 400m on Sterling while we're at it.
I remember there were a few jokers on here who were adamant Sterling would be our best winger if we signed him on loan last summer

Mata was fine.

Matic on the other hand dropped off a cliff in his second season.

Theres been enough said about Mount already but yeah Nkunku's injuries are a major red flag.

Yeah and like I said doesn't affect signing striker either, if it does then immediately look elsewhere

This guy is the definition of a system player. Can look great in a system that he fits, or he looks awful and out of place.

I don't think he's too bad, honestly. He looks like a player who'd do well in a close-knit system, bagging 15+ goals per season, if he manages to stay fit and play a run of games.

I don't think comparing him with Mata/Matic/Mount makes a lot of sense, because all three players already looked completely washed out when playing for their final seasons at Chelsea.

He is only 27, so has a good 4-5 years of top flight football left in him.

Doesnt look like he gives a shit and hasnt had a good game in forever. Usually invisible when he finally gets to play. Thought he would be a top player when he joined but got a nasty injury, never recovered after that.

I dont rate garnacho that highly either but if the club manages to push through some "swap" deal where they go in opposite directions for similar fees, it would be a miracle

35m, we can't get even half that for players we loaned out and did very well in laliga like Antony. How do these clubs convince other clubs with these pricetags?

He's an injury crock on massive wages, who's looked average at best and chelsea have the balls to ask for £35m. We'll do a loan with an obligation to buy for £35m with a penalty clause of £3m to send him back and they can cover part of his wages whilst they're at it, the cheeky cnuts.

Chelsea have a knack of selling players for inflated fees, whereas we pretty much give them away.

Nkunku shouldn't be anywhere on our radar. A perm-crock who's shown nothing since he joined the club.

His actual ouput hasn't been bad when on the pitch. His two seasons at Chelsea compared to some relevant players to us' most recent season.

Non-penalty goal involvements per 90:

Cunha - 0.73
Nkunku (24/25) - 0.71
Amad - 0.62
Mbeumo - 0.58
Bruno - 0.55
Nkunku (23/24) - 0.49

Non-penalty expected goal involvements per 90:

Nkunku (24/25) - 0.66
Cunha - 0.57
Nkunku (23/24) - 0.52
Bruno - 0.50
Amad - 0.49
Mbeumo - 0.42

At the right price he might be an interesting punt for someone, as if he stays fit it wouldn't be at all surprising if he bags quite a few goals/assists.

I'm just not interested in us being the ones to take that punt.

His stats for this past season are heavily padded by most of his minutes coming in the Conference League against goat herders.

Obviously his time with Chelsea wasn´t very successful.
Neverless, if Bayern gets him for 25-35 mil I would be very happy.
Think he can be really great.

As someone who has watched every minute he’s played with us I can say that it’s almost impossible to judge how he’ll be when he leaves here. He basically gave up and hasn’t been bothered to put in any effort since January when his move away never materialized. He strolls around the pitch all the time like he’s half asleep. So who’s to say how he’ll be when he’s motivated again? Could be a decent signing for someone.

He just doesn’t suit Maresca’s system at all and when you aren’t fancied by the manager I guess it’s hard to stay motivated. In United’s 3-4-3 or whatever Amorim plays with the two #10’s I think he could thrive again.

Paying a fee to sign him permanently would be idiotic, surely we’re not that stupid.

No loan fee and a percentage of his wages is all Chelsea were willing to pay to take Sancho on loan. As a backup To bulk up the squad for a year could make a case for that type of deal but that’s about it.

Every attacking player looks shit with Maresca. He has real quality, and it’s a decent price. It’s one to consider for sure.

Why can't we loan to buy him and insert a 5 million pounds exit clause like they did to us with Sancho.

Yeah, needs quite a bit of context for his G/A or do PL only.

Same stats, PL only:

Non-penalty goal involvements per 90:

Cunha - 0.73

Nkunku (23/24) - 0.61
Mbeumo - 0.58

Non-penalty expected goal involvements per 90:

Cunha - 0.57
Nkunku (23/24) - 0.51
Bruno - 0.48
Amad - 0.45
Mbeumo - 0.42

Point still stands. When he's been on the pitch, he's been productive. If someone (hopefully not us) takes the punt on him, it could well work out if they can keep him fit and playing.

Yeah not bad at all - better than I expected. Underperformed his XG whilst most of the others over performed theirs.

Loan with option to buy is the best we should do. Wouldn't mind a punt on him tbh

Why the hell would we want to help Chelsea out with a player they clearly want rid of, and for good reason.

If Chelsea want to loan him to us with an option but no obligation, pay half his wages, and if he gets injured they'll take him back, then maybe.

But they won't, because they see us as mugs, and will probably hope to take advantage and get a similar deal to this for Garnacho from us late on if we get desperate, so no thanks.
