Why has the Charity Shield snuck into these conversations as a major trophy now?

I sincerely hope they are stripped of everything and hit with by far the biggest punishment in UK football history. Such empty, fake success. I was at the FA Cup Semi and, along with being half full, the City fans were SPRINTING to the station the second the final whistle went. I have never seen anything like it at Wembley. No cheering and celebrating the players that just got you to another final or celebrating the result. They don't deserve the success they have had, their fanbase is just a spoilt rich kid now.

Jose and Pep’s egos turned winning a charity shield into a thing. Jose was the first to do it, Pep continued the bs.

And there's not an ounce of pressure on City for delaying the process, or the 'independent panel' to get the to the verdit either.

This is literally what the media is there for, to ask the right questions. But no, lets just kiss Pep's arse some more.

What the hell? That’s so stupid and makes a mockery of any kind of rules. So because city have bags of money they just pay their way out of any trouble whereas a team like Brighton or burnley won’t be able to pay the same level of fines

And the money goes where?

Oh great so you can openly bribe to get yourself out of trouble! Way to go, Premier League. A role model for integrity!

This is fecking preposterous.
I’m hoping this applies to certain breaches and not a multi charge, multi breach case like City’s… but nothing surprises me with modern football.

The media are being hushed and controlled by the powers that be. They are terrified of mentioning any wrongdoing at City. Wouldn't surprise me if they're having a few brown envelopes being thrown their way.

I mean, it's the same independent panel that has said they've been unable to get much done because they've had trouble finding the time to meet up. It was a joke from the start. Wholesale corruption.

This only applies if the club admits charges , a settlement agreement like in case of chelsea recently would mean city admit to wrong doing . The settlement wont just be financial i assume . I think this will help PL settle cases quickly with teams that admit breaches as in parties settle between them rather than waiting for IC to settle and then have appeals to IC decision and so on .

You notice how since news of Pep leaving the charges are being mentioned again, am fairly certain City have an agreement that it’s settled after Pep goes.

Lincoln away ole ole.

They're getting done this summer aren't they, you can sense it.

So they've posted a video to their youtube.
There's 25000 likes and 65 dislikes.
There are practically no derogatory comments and the only one
i could find was a new one from an Everton fan, calling him a cheat.
No mention of 115.

Plenty of fawning comments from supposed other clubs fans, including United.
It's being heavily moderated to keep any real feeling about the massive cheat out of the narrative.
Like some kind of dystopian propaganda.
Posted this in the Pep thread.
Just wanted it noted that their sportswashing extends to controlling comments on youtube.
Can't have anyone post the truth on the leaving video can we?

eh I just wanted to raise it again in light of Pep resigning. Surely he knows something big is coming their way… but then I read that awful article shared above where the PL is considering basically just allowing clubs to pay a fine, and now I don’t know what to believe. … Other than City are an awful, awful club and this whole situation is further tainting the entire league.

If it doesn’t come out between the end of the season and start of the World Cup, something is really fecked with the process.

I don't disagree, but then the other clubs just shouldn't vote for it? Any club can put forward a proposal, it has to the pass a vote.

Why are you bumping this thread?

Honestly, it should probably be pinned to the top of this board.

Not really in the mood to faux apologise for bumping this either (I realise you didn’t ask me to), this deserves as much attention as anything football related.

You'd think any big announcement, regardless of direction, might unsettle quite a few players, right? There's no real benefit to announcing it now or in 6 weeks when the world cup is over

The earlier any punishments are dished out, the sooner everyone can deal with the fall out.

As for unsettling players, feck em.

Nobody asked for an apology but bumping a thread is usually done when something has happened or there's an update.

Actually, you should apologize. To all the other posters, to the mods and most importantly, to me.

Surely they wouldn't want to jeopardise the World Cup by dropping this bomb right before the start

If the judgement is ready, best to drop it soon after the PL season ends and prior to the World Cup in my opinion.

They may also be thinking about the transfer window, which opens around the same time as the WC starts. If City are getting some kind of punishment, players and agents need to know before the window opens.

Those are fair points. I wasn't advocating for them to delay the announcement, but I can see them doing it because of the World Cup. Didn't consider the opening of the transfer window though

Guardiola is staying on as some sort of advisor though isn't he?

It was pretty obvious last year that the 1 year with an option of 1 year was because he was leaving this summer.

He doesn't have to sit in front of a load of journalists multiple times a week in that role though.

If he knew something bad was coming he would have walked away all together.

The most recent theory on the charges is that City flooded the trial with documents of evidence to prove their innocence which is why it's taken so long, why the Premier League are reluctant to release the verdict and why PSR has been scrapped and they've moved to the new squad cost ratio system.

I'm really not hopeful of any lasting action against City anymore.

Guardiola‘s dithering on leaving indicates that something is likely to happen soon. He was keeping his options open until the last minute.

If city drop off a bit with Pep gone then the need to punish them drops as well. The longer city dominates, the longer people are fed up and want them taken down a peg or 2. If they drop naturally, be more back in the leading pack rather than out on their own, the clamor for revenge drops.
