With Anderson at 130m, they're pushing up a billion spent since charges were referred.

Absolutely insane how their spending continues unabated despite these charges hovering around their necks like a fecking albatross.

Like a criminal being allowed to continue robbing houses whilst awaiting a charge for arson, GBH, battery and 127 other crimes.

I think spending 130m on Anderson is exactly what they would do if they no idea what the end result of the charges might be but want to secure a top target early just in case things go badly.

That's what I chose to believe as well. If they expect heavy fines (limiting their allowed spending) or transfer bans, they would spend what they can now
 
City are still absolutely taking the piss.
The EPL should be utterly embarrassed by this latest 130 million signing and carrying on as though nothing is unusual

I recall Chelsea doing something similar before their 2019 transfer ban.

They signed Pulisic from Dortmund and Higuain on loan. When their ban was reduced on appeal they then bought Ziyech, Werner, Chilwell, Havertz, Thiago Silva and Edouard Mendy.

They have ruined the game along with Chelsea and PSG, feck sake why did we let Abramovich into this country in 2003. These type of state nation takeovers should have outlawed from the start. Fully expecting them to hijack Tonali to Spurs just to throw their financial weight around.
 
Some level of irony going on when Anderson left Newcastle so they could comply with financial rules. Only for him to sign for this lot for 130 million a couple of years later.

I never understand this logic.

“Like a criminal” would mean they have been found guilty of a crime, the literal definition of a criminal.

Currently they are innocent which in a democracy thankfully means not punishing in the absence of proof and a conviction.

If you stopped them spending and they were eventually cleared of the charges you would have one almighty lawsuit on your hands.

Except the hearing is concluded and those in power must already know if they are finding them guilty or not guilty.

Wouldnt surprise me at all if they have decided they are guilty but are delaying the announcement to allow them to spend this summer

Convinced they have been found not guilty or at the most some utterly useless points deduction
 
Already paying Guehi £300k a week as well. United have Rashford left on a similar sized contract, potentially Bruno as well. City are paying 2 English players, that are not even world class, contracts higher than United can even afford to pay.

No one can compete with them anymore, it was never a level playing field but now it’s gone beyond that. The Premier League have to realise for the good of the league City’s owners should be forced to sell the club and banned as owners in the UK. If they want to go off and buy another European club so be it. This scenario will never happen because anyone close to it will use it as an opportunity to get rich.

There’s nothing to suggest United can’t afford to pay it, just more that they are no longer willing to do so for obvious reasons. The fact that City are signing a 130m midfielder on a 100m contract while the outcome of the breaches has yet to be announced after an interminable wait, is the real issue here.

They have broken and bent the rules in a way that they are operating in a financial stratosphere that no one else wants to match because it’s not sustainable over the long term. City don’t care about sustainability, nor do they care about rules.

Surely it's got to be announced after the World Cup. As Shearer said the other day, it's disgraceful how long it's taken.

It's in the hands of the law, whom all are separate from PL, City and FIFA, UEFA etc...

I don't think timing of anything matters to them or will make a difference. I would love to know why its taking so long, though.

I think that is too short a period for three legal practices to examine the more than half a million pieces of evidence City presented in their defence.
Assuming each item takes an average of an hour to resolve, over 500,000 man hours split between three law firms with a large staff is a lot of work to wade through.
My prediction is June 2028, making it 3 years 9 months before the verdict is made public.

Anyone else fancy a punt on forecasting the date of the outcome?
It's more fun than predicting the winner of the World Cup and far more difficult.

When they have spent £300 million in this transfer window, so early-mid August.

Then a 2 year transfer ban, massive fine, and 20 points deduction, all going to appeal, and if it looks like they will still get CL with the 20 point deduction then they will accept the punishment, but still insist they are innocent.

That's my prediction, no way it goes on for another couple of years.
