Does it really reflect worse on the PL to do something about it than to do nothing at all about City's rampant and abundantly well-documented cheating? Are there still people of sound mind who would look down on the PL for enforcing its rules? One might say that they should have done it sooner, but surely it can never be interpreted as better to simply let the cheating go unpunished and continue with impunity.

If City get away with it, every ounce of credibility is gone from English football. It will formally be a fully corrupt farce, the birthplace of the sport sold for the sake of sportswashing a human rights nightmare's geopolitical reputation. There's no rational world where it makes sense for the PL to prefer that. Individuals might be bribed to choose it out of self-interest, but it can't possibly be the whole organization's earnest stance.

You probably can't do what City have done though as fees have absolutely ramped up since City emerged.

When you have Tottenham throwing 185m at 2 centre mids, who aren't even close to the best in the world, the whole thing has escalated to an absolutely terrifying level.

And that’s exactly what the Premier League wants. They would jump for joy if they had 20 Man City’s. They don’t give a flying feck about fair competition because if they did they would have stopped City in 2009 the second a nothing club like them signed sponsorship deals that were triple the amount of Real Madrid’s and Barcelona’s.

They started with some smart signings - people getting scared they'd inevitably become the new City.
Then it's now started to become carnage outbounds, Tonali and Gordon out. Bruno G inevitably out, rumours about Hall etc.

Will see how smart their next wave of signings are, or they're in trouble.

It's mad when you think that even the likes of West Ham are richer than an AC Milan now.

One the 5th or 6th biggest club in London who have won next to nothing in their history, one an all time absolute great club.
 
Wouldnt be surprised if the they've been told of an impending transfer ban for 1 year and are going hard on signings this summer to make up for it.

It's mad, but it's down to mismanagement from the likes of Italian FA, Spanish FA etc. The financial model the Premier League used was there for them to adopt and follow, but the big teams didn't want to share the profits with the smaller teams.

I'm sure the other clubs in the league are more informed than the fans about what's going on and why the delay. They'll all wait until it plays out before doing anything.

You can't have 20 Man City's though! Only one team can win the league each season!

If the Premier League didn't care they wouldn't have hit them with these charges, or they would have dropped them years ago.

Exactly. If City aren't punished then Newcastle could just give Bruno G a new 500k a week contract, put Hall on 300k a week then make crazy transfer deals.

It would inflate an already inflated market.
 
I'm assuming nothing is happening with this still. Giving time for City to prepare for whatever weak punishment they receive. Spend another few hundred million before getting a one year transfer ban and 6 points deducted.

Why have they still not punished these feckers? Quick to punish small clubs but unprecedented 115 charges? Untouchable it seems

So much for the financial experts expecting a decision before the World Cup starts. At this rate I can’t see it happening before the season starts.

I’m not sure they’d be jumping for joy at half empty stadiums and advertising tickets on the radio the day of the game.

Ah, they need to be allowed to spend 100s of millions on new players this summer before any penalties hit.
 
The fact they've paid another £22m for a "random" youngster from one of their feeder clubs and loaned him.straight back out meanwhile we're having to be clever in the market and a £35m signing is a key cog.

They can just throw money on prospects and see what sticks. They've currently got £50m worth of youngsters they purchased these last couple of years sitting in another one of their feeder clubs in Reis and Echeverri.

Horrible club, and the FA have been shocking.

A number of legal experts are starting to speak out on how farcical it is that no verdict has been delivered either way.

I knew it would take at least a year but we are way past that now.
