City and Financial Doping | Charged by PL with numerous FFP breaches | Hearing begins 16th September 2024

City's argument being they don't want the press taking part. What's wrong with that?
You saying how senior the judge is doesn't make it more guilty.

Like I said, it's a rehash of old news and nothing will happen. It never does. Because there is nothing to answer for when it comes to actual law instead of newspaper accusations based on hatred for city.

You guys get your hopes up, but City run a clean ship, they have to, they're up against the history clubs and their media.
Nothing to answer for and yet your beloved sheikh has thrown millions in legal fees at keeping the case quiet and has refused to hand over documents to show his innocence....and now football leaks have handed over documents by the bucket load that shine an even brighter light on all the financial doping..theres far more to come...

I've seen it mentioned a few times (in here and other threads previously), was there any substance to the claims of paying salaries twice?

I actually think that's as big if not bigger than City's transfer expenditure, and would give them a massive advantage over pretty much any club. So I was wondering how substantiated it was.

I've never seen a funnier post than the part in bold. Well played.

Either trolling or truly deluded.

A clean ship? Fair play for being able to write that without laughing! You guys don't seriously think that a club who can't even fill their home ground every week, are completely above board when it comes to sponsorship deals do you? Even UEFA's investigation found you guilty. The CAS only overturned it due to UEFA's own time-barred evidence. If City have nothing to hide, why have they been using every delay tactic under the sun? Surely they'd want this over quicker than anyone?

If they can be proven of doing this, I am sure HMRC will come a knocking. If that happens, then a docking of points will seem like childs play.

Isn't it a bit odd none of the other media outlets like your sky's and BBC and the national papers have run the story?

Between this rubbisb and our own club being behind the super League I really wonder how I bother and how we all bother and keep buying in. Football is a great game but we put up with too much.

Don’t you think in the end that the Glazer fiasco with the Super League in fact was a blessing. Is it just possible the owners are now spending like drunken sailors to appease the fans and keep them happy and quiet? Kind of looks that way. Status quo without the protests probably would have been more of the same old agonizing wait for a transfer or two.

If I'm not wrong, it's because only the Mail reporter (I think its the Mail) became aware of this legal battle happening at the time and was able to legally force his way into the court on the condition that he won't be able to report anything. Now that the judges have judged that those materials can be released, the Mail is the one reporting it. I'm recalling all this based on that journalist's interview somewhere yesterday so I might have gotten something wrong.

I agree - this is the cleanest ship since the boat Clotilda was smuggling slaves 50 years after importing slaves was outlawed.

City are the first to get the press in when they open their 57th training pitch. I wouldn’t trust them or the Council leader Sir Richard (I’m a big City fan) Leese as far as I can spit. The club is all about PR to make the property developers look good and sportswash their Human Rights abuses. They have bought their way into several football clubs in different countries in an effort to dupe UEFA, which seems easy, on FFP. For their lawyers to gag an investigation is typical and in itself smacks of guilt. They probably hoped to do a deal behind closed doors with the PL. The Dell Boys of football.

I find it weird that Man City had a friendly against journalists especially if they’re uniteds journalists? So weird!

City fans are honestly special. Jesus christ.

Has anyone mentioned that city run a clean ship yet?
Souness.

When reds were protesting the Glazer ownership some months ago, Souness said that United fans should be jealous of city's owners because they are fantastic owners and do things the right way.

Are you hard of reading?

Quote where I say they're guilty.

I don't know more, I'm linking a Guardian article (partly in reply to another poster who wasn't sure whether the Guardian would comment on this). With a major case on the way, I'm pretty sure what they say is factually accurate... unless the Guardian make stuff up?

And not sure what to say about quoting posts then saying "haha". But I guess we get all ages on here.

Good luck with being promoted from newbie.
Like I said this will come to zero. Nothing. It's clickbait for your lot and for lfc fans. They keep pulling you in with false hope. Selling you the idea that city will be brought down..... It's not happened yet, all the stuff they've written about city, FFP, bungs to pep, Peds, it's all come to nothing. Strange?

City have upset the Applecart. We've broken the traditional model of red teams winning the PL. The big fanbases are where the money is, it's what the PL, the media, UEFA want. Little old city and their money have upset so many people that we get these headlines. When it comes to courts of law though we're always innocent.

Sqeaky clean ship, like I said. And that's mainly because UEFA is run by the history clubs, the media want their clicks, the PL want to sell the brand. Its no wonder all the rubbish we get thrown at us. But I don't think city can be stopped now, they've shown you can break into the top tier, hopefully Newcastle will be next and PL football can take another leap forward like it has under pep.

It's so much better than corporate American ownership that depends upon profit at the expense of long term sustainability and success.

So you can't quote where I said City are guilty then?

Chelsea play in blue.

"long term sustainability". Oh I get it now... you're a wum.

wums get thrown out fyi.

They're not spending any more or any less than previously.

There is nothing sustainable about Man City's current position. It relies heavily on Abu Dhabi constantly pumping money in. If they sold up tomorrow the sponsorships would reduce as they were replaced with legitimate ones. And City would have to drastically scale back their wage bill and player recruitment.

They would have to be run like an actual business with risk and maybe even seek to turn a small profit, oh the horror.

You must be Noel in disguise....it´s clear as day based on the leaked emails that this plastic club is bending every rule there is...why on earth are they trying to hide it and keep away from the public eye if they are Sqeaky clean as you state...But perhaps you are right and City and PSG are the true beacons of sportmanship in the football world...No they are exactly the opposite...and hoping for more of this and pretending that the PL takes as step forward due to this is just absurd

Man City run such a squeaky clean ship that they even gave their efforts to circumvent FFP a cool secret name. ''Project Longbow''

Manchester City's creative name for their secret project is explained within Der Spiegel's report.

It is alleged that the club's chief legal adviser Simon Cliff explained in an internal email that the longbow was the weapon used by the English when they beat the French at Crecy in 1346 and Agincourt in 1415.

Manchester City's 'enemy', as written in the Football Leaks report, was French UEFA president Michel Platini and his signature project – Financial Fair Play.

It is claimed that the name 'Project Longbow' was then widely used by club employees over several years as the club fought against FFP.

What Sourness meant was when he and other pundits arrive at the Emptyhad, they are treated to a free roast lunch or dinner, no doubt get other freebies thrown in, wouldn’t be surprised if Kompany’s limo company ferries them about. Mark Lawrenson let it slip on MOD how well they are treated. Mr.Sourness should go to Abu Dhabi and try criticising the Sheik or look at their ‘sponsors’. All this crap about just because City didn’t want the PL investigation to be public doesn’t mean they are guilty is just that, crap. Smoke and fire. The nouveau City fans still don’t realise they have a debt bigger than United’s, the only difference is we or rather the Glazers owe the banks whilst Manchester City FC owe the Sheik. In the unlikely event of him selling up, they will have to find the money somewhere. Can sell the stadium, so would have to sell the team.

City seem confident in their fight against PL to be spending over 200 million this summer. I feel this is the last chance for the PL to do something about it, if nothing gets done we are looking at dominance even Bayern don't have over the BL.
I know fans of most clubs love the Chelsea and City oil money because it defeated the traditional big clubs but surely this is worse considering defeating it is pretty impossible. I would actually prefer the European super League to what we are witnessing now.

It is straight up cheating and has basically fecked the sporting integrity of not just English football, but club football worldwide, perhaps irreparably. Their plastic fans and those others you mention are effectively enabling this, and you could say they are almost as bad as the owners for doing so. OK, they don't murder people, but their passive and in the case of Chelsea and City fans, active, embracing of these owners is plays right into their hands and effectively makes their sportwashing/financial doping accepted.
