So if you won the lottery yesterday, a £100m jackpot lets say, and then the National Lottery suddenly announce this afternoon that they are withholding all money and instead donating the entirety to help research into coronavirus vaccine. You;d accept it in a socially-conscious manner?
If it meant Liverpool not winning the league, I'd chuck in an extra £50

Not even a question any real Utd fan needs to consider for a second.

If you know you know.

Imagine Fergie's answer to this FFS.
Do I look as if I’m a masochist ready to cut myself? How does relegation sound instead?

Doubt it'll happen because of money, but it'd make the most sense not to have any European competitions next year and allow teams to qualify for the year after.

We aren't winning CL anyway so what's the point of playing in it?

Liverpool losing the title it is then.
That's very narrow minded. Our team is young and needs CL experience and exposure. It also benefits us off field and in the transfer market to be in the CL.

To avoid messy situations, whenever football continues, this season would need to be finished first. Even if it is 5 months from now, the priority would be to finish this season. Start a new one giving a months break in between. Possibly cancel Carabao Cup and use those timeslots for additional PL games to complete the season in time.

To answer the OP, anything for Pool to not be given the title. If they don’t win this one, it might shake their belief towards ever winning one. As it is, CL football isn’t guaranteed for us. We still had to perform consistently over the last 9 games or win the CL.
To avoid making it messy? The best way to avoid that is to cancel and void it. You can't simply restart this one in 5 months. What about Ighalo's loan? And transfers? It just doesn't work.

If the season doesn't restart soon it will simply be cancelled.

Well, this CV stuff will go one of two ways. Either its a lot of fuss about nothing, and it all dies off pretty soon allowing the season to resume mid-late April - not beyond the realms of possibility if all countries went into full and proper lock down mode, but unlikely to happen.

Alternatively, they expect this to hang around for some time so the extreme could be it takes a year / nearly a year to get everything sorted. We simply just pick up everything again in 12 months time, and have a hiatus in the middle. It means scheduling is easy, nothing needs to be crammed in a short time period etc. Even if it's not a full year, say 9 months, just finish off the season, have a longer break before the reorganised Euro 2021, and then a slightly longer break again before starting the next season, effectively removing any 2020-21 season in its own right. Then pick up again in August 2021 as normal, league wins, promotions, relegations and European places all sorted as well.

And what to do with others then? I don't think that other 19 teams (and their fans) give a damn about Liverpool and what Liverpool deserve.
You can't give Liverpool title and say to Wolves, Su or Arsenal to accept current situation. I would fully expect from Woodward to make court appeal against that decision.

And to give Liverpool title and cancel season for others is also not legally ok.

Right now it is doable if football starts up again by May. We can assume Euro 2020 is being postponed and so the remaining fixtures could be completed by early July in that case giving the players a few weeks off and then preseason in August. They can accept a shorter break as they will be getting some time off now with the leagues suspended. To prevent a logjam next year the Carabao cup can run for 1 year with no PL teams to free up dates to make up for starting the new season a couple of weeks later.

The decision on voiding the season really does not need to be made for a few more weeks. There is a probability this thing runs on for months and then of course it all is null and void but it could equally die down over the next few weeks so why make the decision before you need to? Personally I hate the idea of Liverpool winning another PL title but I am fairly sure it will be another 30 years for them after this anyway, once the title is done Salah and Mane are going to feck off to Spain and Klopp will take another sabbatical and we can enjoy watching them languish in mid table where they belong.

Cancelled Season, Null & Void or Finishing As it stands are all things that on a computer game but in real life that’s just not feasible or really going to happen.

- Liverpool being crowned champions or not is the big point people seem to be making but in reality is the smallest of issues.

- There’s no way any team with a mathematical chance of achieving a something this season will simply accept it and will sue the FA/Premier League for making the decision not to finish this season and just cancelling. CL is worth around £50m, clubs will not let that go. Neither will say West Brom if they aren’t promoted to PL when it’s looks certain they will.

- Sponsors & TV Right.canceling season rather than delay means these aren’t fulfilled, would they want clubs to pay money back? What about clauses? Man Utd’s Addidas deal drops if we don’t get CL this season. If season is cancelled, it’ll likely get dropped, United have a case against FA/PL. Other clubs may be in similar situation.

- Tiny Tiny issue, would a void season mean all player stats get reverted to season start? Wouldn’t that mess up clauses in contracts with add ons and bonuses?

- Clubs finances won’t be null and void for the past 9 months, and not allowing clubs to chance of CL place, Survival, Promotion etc. Could place some clubs in precarious finance position because of a FA/Decision not to finish the season .

- Players Contacts & ages won’t have frozen a year, however every club will essentially get put 1 season back

- For anyone who feels clubs would just have to take it on the chin, and accept human life is more important than business & finances, once this is done they’re be firmly back tobe concerned about finances & a Cancelled Season rather than delayed end causes far more lasting implications & opens up a a can or worms for Court cases against FA/PL than scheduling issues and 1/2 years of getting season to get back to normal timing.

Lets not forget Cardiff went to court because even though they had signed a player, we’re trying to get out of paying £5m for a player who tragically died in a plane accident. These clubs aren’t going to take a perceived £50m+ Shortfall on the chin.

For me I just can’t see how a Null/Void/Early Finished Season could be a real option in 2020

Note. I wrote this on my phone, whilst on a train. It could be littered with typos or sentences that don’t make sense. I’ll edit later if there are

Anything to prevent a Liverpool title, short of us winning the CL, is worth it.
This, can't agree more

Or us to play in the Championship, otherwise I'd be more than happy tbh

If FA announce VOID decision in May, this is probably the case, as they are not giving every club and player a fair chance. let's say they wait and wait until June, when UK alone are losing the plot like Italy, so you think FA can force clubs to play even when 10K citizens are hospitalised? In fact, you will run out of hospital beds soon, someone might ask whether you can reconfigure stadium as temporarily quarantined zone.

FIFA and UEFA can only do so much, ultimately each country's FA need to make the harsh decision sometime in June. BBC said you need 6 weeks to complete, let's say you can start the new season in Sep, then mid-Jul must be the last call, allowing 1 week for each clubs to prepare. They can take FA to court if you like, but no club can force players to play wearing a body size Condxx.

Italian's other scenario is less acceptable, such as cut off as where it was, or playoff (even play-off need time, 1-2 weeks, right?)

Think if the season gets cancelled, they should do a year without champions league/Europa league and just avoid the rest. Yeah Liverpool have all but wrapped up the title, but how could anyone give them the title before it's done, when the top 4 race is so up for grabs (hence cancel European competition for a season), but also relegation and promotion being such a big fight right now?
You understand that FA and UEFA are not the same organisations? And UEFA won't really give a shit about England's tough situations with deciding, which clubs do qualify and lose money because of it. If European football would be a possibility in the next season from public health perspective, it would go on, UEFA aren't going to lose hundreds of millions of euros just because it's inconvenient to the domestic leagues.

I take Europa League, Moyes, Fellaini and Bastian for a year and another quarantine just to see Liverpool losing the EPL title. I am ready to live in quarantine for 2 years if that means I never see Liverpool win the league again

Liverpool deserve the title this year, clearly the better team

But it will make me smile if they don't get an official title.

And that team is Arsenal.
And there is the problem with voiding the season completely. It makes a complete farse of everything. Arsenal are a mid table side and were knocked out of Europe by Olympiacos. Rewarding them for that would not only be ridiculous but would almost certainly result in court challenges from United, Wolves, City etc.

I don't think voiding the season is a realistic option at all. Which means Liverpool will get their title. It's just down to whether or not they insist on playing the remaining games or coming to a compromise (which again could get messy legally)

Deserve means nothing in sport. Either you won it or you didn't and Liverpool haven't. Even Klopp has been emphasising that in every post match interview.

Worst case scenario (obviously in a sporting situation and us being bitter rivals) would be the season re-starts in say May, Liverpool get their 2 wins, and THEN there's another outbreak.
Meaning Liverpool get the title, and the rest is voided, and we miss out.

Much as I hate the Scousers, cancelling the season at this stage is silly.

The easiest solution would be for clubs to get over themselves and just play behind closed doors.

In the words of Boris ‘let’s just get this thing done’.

Mikel Arteta currently has the virus; but he should arise like Lazarus to take charge of his team & just get over it.

What a load of macho nonsense.

They’ll push through the games come April cause money talks but playing behind closed doors isn’t really the answer when one of the managers will have just given it to his team who in turn would likely give it to their opponents.

It is going to be ten times worse in April than it is now.

EFL ‘Season’ means the period of the year commencing on the date of the first League Match and, for each Club, ending immediately after the completion of the Club’s final fixture of the League Competition or, if the Club is participating in the Play-Offs, the final Play-Off match for that Club.

The FA defines the season starting after 30th June.

The seasons has ended; the only delay from the 3rd of April is them thrashing out how to end it, agree a deal and then make it palatable to fans

You’ve decided you wanted to have a go at something, so created it, and had a go at it.

Now excluding things I didn’t say, Mikel Arteta, I presume, will not die. He will recover within a few weeks. Coincidentally around the time football is due to return. If the authorities do not want mass gathering, they aren’t a requirement to play a game of football. By ‘getting over themselves’, my thinking is none of this ‘football without fans is crap’ stuff. I think we can all agree that if the circumstances were normal, that wouldn’t be the case. However, so long as the players, coaches and officials who will of course have been tested, do not have the virus - a game of football can be played. Unless the ball has it.

Cancelling the season shouldn’t happen. We resume on 4 April as planned, either with fans or without them, and complete the season.

Yes it will be but I feel one of the major sports will attempt to push the narrative ‘behind closed doors’ is a possibility though and the greed in the Premier League is second to none.

Easy, EL all the way. I would even pay money to watch a complete meltdown of Liverpool. Hell I'd even take 10th place to see Liverpool go from here to 2nd place

Euro 2020, will have to be postponed to 2021, and the rest of Europe can finish there leagues, cups etc, even if it goes into July. Transfer window would be interesting, as players would still be playing for there clubs! And what about players who's contracts run out in June? It's a right mess. But something he's to be done iether way. Just null and void whole season . Ohhh I can hear the bindippers screaming !

EL hasn't been that bad this season, been great for Greenwood especially

I'd easily go through another season in these circumstances if it meant no title for Liverpool

In the interest of public health, football clubs and fans should calm the feck down about their promotions, relegation, CL spots or title. Thousands already dead and the number will grow exponentially if people insist on exposing themselves or others for selfish reasons. Null and void is the best decision.

The only thing worth trading is if by giving Liverpool the title, the pandemic will stop. Outside of that I wouldn't trade anything. Even Champions League spot.
