Club ownership | Senior management team talk

I know we all were upset back in Jan when everything looked bleak and when alot of fans were crying about not replacing players.

I had fans tell me we could have done with Rashford Antony etc.. but the club took the decision of short term pain for long term gains.

Just saving on those wages for 5 months meant that we were good with PSR coming into this window.

All the £1 -£-15m saving is the reason we can go and hit the window early with 2 top signings.

Yeah they effectively hit the reset button on and off the pitch and it’s not really designed to be a quick win but have a benefit in the medium and longer term. Of course actually doing that successfully is something completely different but hopefully we will start to see some decisions start to pay off next season and beyond.

"During their two decade tenure the club has paid out £1,187m in debt interest, dividends to shareholders, debt repayments, and management fees to the family."

How good it would have been if Qatar had bought us and removed that debt. It's killing us!! fecking Glaciers

Its crazy this is all because of a horse

It's not. Uncle Malc would've eventually bought out the club regardless.

Close.

But so far.

LvG was largely right about that. Although, clubs seem to be moving away from managers having all the power such as in his and Fergie's day.

Ah, so ten Hag didn't want Onana, Martinez or Antony? The club forced them on him? Gotcha.

He’s means all the shitty post season friendlies, touring around the world before the season. The glazers being leeches. He’s right even if he is a cranky old man. He’s feeling the same way the fans have he’s just bitter on top of it

He mentioned that the club were signing players who the manager didn't want.

I haven’t watched it but I’ve seen him rant about this before. He could mean Ronaldo with Ole or forcing managers to keep playing Rashford and Martial even though they weren’t going to be good enough to ever win us anything important. I guess it’s fair enough

Van Gaal is full of shit. Even the biggest United haters wouldnt consider the likes of Hojlund, Onana and Zikzee etc as "commercial signings."

Some should've choked to death that freaking horse.

McManus wanted to buy 100% but he knew he cant do it against Sir Alex will at that time, who knows he could have blocked Glazers if SAF was on his side.
Like the idea of QATAR investment as we could have got debt/stadium all sorted in less than no time, people have reservations about their background but I guess people look at number of tittles citi won when they look back after 20 years rather who was behind all that.

It's such a glory to us even after 12 dreadful years we are still the 2nd most valued club in the world and got highest fan base. Wish we could get back to top and pull few players like Beckham and Cristiano who could elevate our club again so the younger fans in the world will come back to us again. It pains to see citi, chelsea Jersey's when we go out on holidays recently.

To say he failed is a stretch
Every manager who did not make us title challengers has failed. Which covers every single one since Fergie. We shouldn’t lower our expectations for the bare minimum the club stands for. There would be seasons of transition but without a meaningful title challenge at the end of a managers tenure, it has to be classified as failing.

LVG hasn't said much wrong. He said that years ago too.

The Glazers started buying shares a year before the rock of gibraltar media narrative 'saga' and bought the club a full year after it had all been sorted. The cubic idiots even bought more shares when countersuing Ferguson.

It really is a damn shame our own fans fall for such arrant nonsense.

Also, it would be awful if our club became PR for some theocratic dictatorship.

McManus was in a consortium with other leeches, and Alex Ferguson could realistically have blocked nothing, unless he had some
sort of sway over the stock exchange (he didn't).

Glazers just used other people's money to buy leeches out with an offer well above share value. They use our earnings to pay off the debts they accrued doing this, whilst media fill up people's heads with crap about a horse.

The End (alas).

LVG hasn't said much wrong.

It's interesting he kept these musings to himself when being paid hundreds of thousands a week to fail upwards, isn't it?

Another contaminant failure taking a self-serving dump from the sidelines.

Ignore.

I think most managers try to keep things civil when they're employed by the club. He could go and create a toxic atmosphere which wouldn't benefit anyone.

What has he said that is wrong here?

Mainly the part where he said that we don't buy the manager's handpicked players and that other clubs do. In reality it's been the opposite, and that's one of the reasons our squad building has been a mess.

How the feck would he know, he got potted 9 years ago ffs.
Hes watched whats happened at the club over the last 9 years thats how. Getting further from the top and finishing 15th last season shows how much the football side has been left to turn to tatters. Now Ineos have arrived (and this is still hope than fact), we may be turning a corner in putting football before commerce.

I must say having just used it myself, that although as football club owners they haven't set the world alight, INEOS' 2 in 1 Next Gen Washing Up Liquid is bloody marvellous

Are you saying even SAF and Mcmanus were remained good friends, still Glazers would have bought McManus shares for high price ?
May be it could have been the opposite like McManus buying out Glazers?

Yes.

There was less chance of McManus buying the Glazers out considering the source of the latter's funding.

Fun fact, Ferguson is actually friendly with McManus and a few others who countersued him. It's all water under the bridge as it got sorted amicably and they were never big friends, anyway.

It 'leading to the Glazers' is just settling scores on Fleet Street, don't fall for it.

Got it, thanks a lot for clearing it up and this is what I like about cafe.
Some times we paint the picture in our heads based on the articles we read in papers and that might be reason behind my thinking Glazers got the hold only because of the rift between SAF and McManus.
Happy to know it's not the case as I never liked the idea of SAF's silly fight for horse was the reason behind Glazers getting the edge in take over.

Not tried it, but my wife got some rhubarb-scented INEOS cleaning wipes for the bathroom and the smell was so noxious it felt like it was corroding my brain.

They seem to have just sprung up overnight with everything. In Tesco they even have mens deodorant and anti-perspirant! They smell revolting mind.

Yep, I bought some of that deodorant from Tesco. It's OK for spraying round the bog after you've had a sit down toilet adventure and created a massive stink.

If people are open to looking past their biases towards managers, it likely was true until ETH left. Last summer was a kind of half way house with De Lift/Zirkzee being ETH driven from what Sir Jim said, but Ineos running things.

No manager got great support from what we can see in terms of alternate targets, and every year we seemed to head down the same track of overpaying because of poor planning. It does seem since Ineos, however, the types of signings have very much been less commercially minded (Maz, De Ligt, Yoro, Zirkzee, Ugarte, Dorgu). Really who is the big name there? Arguably De Ligt given his profile a few years ago.

This summer we seem to be going for PL proven quite obvious names in Cunha, Mbuemo and we'll see whoever else they cook up.

EtH didn't want Mount or Casamiro
Casemiro wasn't his first choice, but he didn't 'not want him' either. I would say the club should have had other options lined up, but once the FDJ move didn't happen and we started the season so badly both the club and ETH panicked.

As for Mount, ETH clearly wanted him. In fact I'd go so far to say it was almost certainly a 100% manager driven signing, as there was no reason the club would go for him except for the fact ETH wanted to play that suicidal midfield setup with two #10's. ETH also tried to sign him at Ajax.
