Club ownership | Senior management team talk

Well given he gave Jason Wilcox a promotion after 4 months in a role in which he was supposed to devise a "game model" that would be implemented at all levels (this turned out to be a crock of shit) and was the main voice pushing to sign Ugarte I'm not sure the standards are that high.

In fairness to Amorim I actually think we've played alright of late and our league position is decent considering the quality of the squad and the ambition of the club nowadays.
I keep seeing comments like this as if we don't have a squad that's better than most except City, Arsenal, Liverpool and maybe Chelsea.

Ineos recruitment record is looking pretty poor to my eyes - ugarte, dorgu and zirkzee are firm flops, sesko is looking highly questionable as is the decision to commit so much on yoro. De ligt, maz, cunha and mbuemo seem like decent signings albeit de ligts injury problems might be rearing their head again

Yep. It's certainly not been brilliant

Villa paid peanuts for Rogers, we paid to our NUTS for Zirkee, Antony, Lujland, throw in Mount if you like although he is not a bad player, just isn't the type where we need him to play.

Antony, Hojlund and Mount were here before Ineos.

Dorgu is too early to consider a flop.
Ugarte has not been good.

I think it's been a lot more positive compared to before.

According to today's Times (paywalled) £5 billion of INEOS debt is trading at 70-80% of value, with short-sellers moving in. All above my head to be honest but the gist seems to be that the risk of them defaulting on the debt is high, which would be the end of INEOS as we know it.

Cunha, Mbeumo, Lammens are all good signings. The question is - are they what we needed the most? Could, say, Bruno played at #10 (even if not as well as Cunha) and would we have rather signed a decent #6, a position where Bruno is clearly not suited and yet is forced to play

Maz is a great player, but the frequency of injuries he has had is extremely concerning

INEOS losing value won't affect us. If they sell, it won't be at a loss and they can't really sell without the glazers. They haven't exactly put a large sum of their own money in the club either, like Chelsea's owners for example, we are still running on our own finances.

Same with the stadium, it will be our money paying for it not INEOS.

Will give them a bit of credit for bringing in a couple of players for the Women's team, however still need to find someone who can provide something in midfield long term for the Men's team next month.

Hindsight and all but I think the smart money would have been to invest more faith in Hoijlund, with the belief that Cunha and Mbeumo would lessen the pressure and sign a proper #6. However Sesko may well surprise us in the second half of the season and beyond.

I have no doubt we would be a better team with hojlund over sesko and a central midfielder

Same here, after Casemiro tires out the balance of the team is way off. These are the implications of not thinking holistically and being caught in the moment, cardinal sins in top management.

You need to let it go. Hojlund clearly wan't up to the level here.
I didn't claim that tbf. Its based on sesko looking so average that its hard to see what we woukd miss out on by having hojlund ip front. And a better central midfielder would clearly be a huge benefit to the squad. Anyone with half a brain cell can see that

These are showing signs they aren't serious or they'd binned him off months ago.

It's not reactionary at this point it's a decision thats long over due and welcomed by all.

Forget Sesko, it's Cunha who I'm more worried about. His production is just as bad as Seskos, and he's just a horrible team mate in general so he doesn't offer much to the teams general play.

I'm almost certain they won't sack amorim now because he would cost too much to be paid off and replaced.

Just hoping 2026 will finally be the year where some miraculous ME owner comes in and rids us of the glazers at last.

The fact Amorim is still the manager would suggest you’re right and I’d have to agree.

We’re screwed aren’t we

surely its at the point now that if they dont sack Amorim, hes gone take them down with him.

It will be for the same reason Amorim won't change anything. Hubris. Ratcliffe would have to sack Wilcox and, especially, Berrada. As he probably should. But he'd have to consult with his PED guru to know where to turn next.

The anti-meritocracy just keeps deepening its roots at United. And people retain their positions because those around them are also incompetent.

Screw Jim and his shitty business. Hopefully he's ousted from INEOS and they look to make a quick buck by selling their stake in the club.

I'm not so bothered about Amorim, he's probably not good enough but our league position is OK, it's more concerning to me that the recruitment doesn't seem to have really improved and the vision of the people above the head coach appears to be deeply flawed. It sort of looks like the plan is to be a less ambitious and less dynamic version of Chelsea and that's not good.

Are they pleased with the manager? Despite an overwhelming amount of evidence, they have a feeling he's going to turn it around maybe?
