Club ownership | Senior management team talk

I think, on the pitch, they've done ok and we'll undoubtedly benefit from some of this decision making over the next few years.

My issue with him is the ticketing stuff and wider 'fan culture' issues. He seems almost insistent on making things as difficult as possible for matchgoing fans. Even the Glazers at their absolute worst were never as bad as this.
The trouble is that even if fans did boycott games him and the leeches know someone else will take seat so they won't ever be hit in the revenue stakes.

He's hand in hand with the Glazers, all these initiatives on squeezing fans are American driven

The problem is a different owner would probably do the same. Including any investor who'd eradicate the debt.

Building a new stadium would likely see difficult prices remain.

Fair enough, ticket prices would maybe lower but not back to anything substantial. Fifty quid minimum and the fans grateful.

Orwell's chocolate ration.

So. Given that the Glazers put nowt into the club and their stake is worth several billion. How much do they want ? What do they want ? They own a football club where they can’t attend matches ‘cos the fans hate them. I honestly don’t get it. Why don’t they just fill their saddle bags and head for the hills ?

I am as sick of the leeches (even Darcy) now as anyone but don't underestimate the power of greed and potential of getting more. Utd are still one of the top revenue generators in world football, if Utd get back on or near the top as they should do marketability and revenue will explode and blow the rest out of the water. For example, they win three games and i get high on vibes and go out an buy the Stone Roses Bucket Hat, just imagine a league run.

If they took the money and cleared off, what do you think they’d do with it?
It wouldn’t be put in a savings account, or hidden under the bed.
They’d do what all very wealthy individuals do and find other assets to invest in and park the value there instead.
At the moment, that (theoretical) value to the Glazers is parked in the potential value of Utd.
Unless there’s an alternative, tempting investment proposition and they decide to sell up here, they may as well keep hold of Utd.
There’s always the prospect that the value of the club could increase in the future, either by the Glazers realising it through the sale of their shares, or by the clubs financial fortunes taking a dramatic upshift.

Barring the unlikely event of a super rich entity making an offer the Glazers can’t refuse, a collapse into insolvency, or some catastrophic “Black Swan” event, as it stands, I can’t see any compelling reason for the leaches to let go and sell up.
Hence why SJR will be playing it very, very cautiously, if his ultimate aim is to acquire a majority stake.
The Glazers will know that too..

I agree. I’m just hoping, more in hope than expectation, that they might develop a moral compass and leave.

I also think that SJR must have agreed some exit criteria with them which is undisclosed. Why else would he put himself in the position he appears to be in ? He must know how to get them out ?

He has upset a lot of fans too.
The Romans colonized in the 1st century AD.
The Vikings colonized 600-1000 AD (more or less).
The Normans colonized starting in 1066.
The Scots and the Welch colonized now and then too.

Oh...is that not what he meant?

Glazers plus that idiot running the club and we wonder why Man United haven't got close to challenging for a league title nevermind winning it since Ferguson retired.

Wow, shocking. Get that Rat out of this club. Awful, awful thing to say. I don't want us to be associated with this sort of rhetoric. This is embarrassing for the club, think of the international presence of United and the many minorities that get joy out of the team. Unreal. We don't need this sort of attention off the pitch. Rat is bad news...

I really don't want to mix politics and football. It's shite.

Glad to be reminded that we're owned by a complete cnut, who's also doing a horrendous job of rebuilding the club.

Honestly bring back Woodward and the fecking Glazers.

Wow, just wow. The closet right winger just came out openly, didn't he. I don't live in the UK but I am really sad to see what the ownership of our club truly believes.

If this is what he says publicly, I don't know what the chat would be at rich people dinner parties. I feel this is totally against the ethos and values of Man Utd I have been following for more than 20 years.

All his statistics were wrong, and regardless of that, he didn't frame anything as a solution to a problem, just a mass demonisation of "immigrants". I lost a bit of respect for the club today.

36% of people in London identify as white British, he’s hardly wrong is he?

If white Europeans moved to a country in Africa for example and the capital city became 36% black the same people crying over his comments would say that the African country/city is being colonised

I couldn’t care less what happens in Britian to be honest but people are basically getting angry over him saying that the sky is blue

Uh oh, here we go...

Attempting to normalise this sort of language isn't acceptable. What you've said about Africa is kind of insensitive where white Europeans have historically been spreading themselves across the globe and claiming territory as they please. And happening again with Trump and Greenland...

I genuinely think there's an argument that he's brought the club into disrepute. At a time where (compared to the last few years anyway) people were starting to pull in the same direction.

feck knows what happens if he leaves though.

Without meaning to get into a debate about entho nationalism or whatever, the UK isn't a "white country" so this argument is irrelevant.

I know loads of people who would identify themselves as black British and are genuinely some of the most patriotic people I've ever seen. And unlike most "white British" attend church and help out in their community.

And on a wider political point, most of the damage to the UK has been done by white British people in the last 20 years or white Americans like the Glazers or Trump.

He's a cnut. And his politics go against everything good about Manchester. It's just a pity that the other realistic options for buying United are probably worse.

Wow the part owner of the club has an opinion on a political and social item and its different than yours, however will you manage to move on from this atrocity?

Can never get too amazed by the political impatience of so called liberals

Makes me ashamed to be associated with United knowing this xenophobic twat is in charge. The very foundations of England are built upon colonialism, theft and plunder.

This isn’t an issue on ideology or a difference of opinion. It’s a question of basic morals and Sir Jim is devoid of any.

What does he think that Cunha, Mbuemo, Amad, Yoro and other players will feel, reading this?
He's proving to be the stereotype of an old-fashioned, right-wing, hyper-selfish, hyper self-interested cnut who exists only in a privileged bubble. The antithesis of a self-aware owner who acknowledges that what he says MAY AFFECT THE PLAYERS IN SOME WAY.
Plus, I presume he's ok with his team comprising lots of immigrants, who are paying their taxes to HMRC, showing good indications that they will in the long term improve his ROI? I guess he's ok with the type of immigration that guarantees him recurring, improved income.
I trust that Carrick, Holland and support staff know how to handle this, if the players get angry. I hope they don't see it or just ignore it.

My country was colonized by the British. The locals wanted a protectorate from the British after the latter lent a hand in us kicking the French out only for the Brits to switch that protectorate deal into full blown colonialism. My parents lived in such conditions,my grandfather served in the war

Let's say that the least said by white British billionaires about colonialism the better.

This is not politics, it’s racism. Period

Oh boy. There's a lot to go at here.

If we're all making political statements about countries we don't live in like Ratcliffe is doing, maybe other United directors should start commenting on the "attrocity" that is being committed by one country on the people of Palestine.

The world in general is shifting to right wing nationalism. We have people like SJR parroting paranoia without understand the consequences it will have on their country. It will take a Trump like chaotic run in the UK for these people to never speak nonsense again.

We’re not talking historically but, we’re talking now, and without even checking I can say with certainty the white population of Africa is under 1%

The UK is 100% a white country, Being British is an ethnicity, there’s black people who live in Britian and I’m sure are very patriotic etc, but they’re British only in name, this is a simple fact

If I moved to Japan, Nigeria or Iraq tomorrow and had children there and they became the most patriotic citizens the country has ever seen it still will never make them Japanese Nigerian or Iraqi

Sorry, what? You're making this worse...

I'm from an ethnic minority background. Born here in the UK. So because my parents were born in another country, what you're saying is that doesn't make me British...?

I'm only British in name? Reform and Farage are winning here...

He is allowed an opinion same as everyone else. He is correct in that various governments have hidden from making tough decisions. He is correct far too many people are on benefits and not contributing.

Also are we not supposed to be one big united family under the same umbrella. I was quite amazed how many various united fan groups have commented on this did not realise we are sio fragmented
